Chapter 69

After ending the call with Carrie, Madelyn scrolled through Amelia's messages. The messages started sharp but gradually shifted to a begging tone.

Madelyn smirked, replaceing it all rather ironic. She hadn't expected Amelia to go to such lengths for Elena. Madelyn once again

wondered if Elena, rather than her, was Amelia's biological daughter.

Her phone suddenly buzzed. It was Amelia calling.

"What is it?" Madelyn answered tersely.

"Can you come home for a bit?" Amelia's voice sounded

weary over the line. Clearly, she hadn't been sleeping well since Elena's incident two days ago. She probably spent the entire night last night trying to contact Madelyn. Elena's troubles had thrown the Garcia family into

turmoil.

"I've asked the chefs to prepare your favorite foods. Could you come back?" Amelia asked, her tone growing more deferential as Madelyn

remained silent.

"Alright," Madelyn responded icily.

She wished she could avoid getting involved with the Garcias

indefinitely, but that wasn't feasible now. Whether it was the Garcias or Elena, they would have to pay the price. Every night, she dreamed of Andrew covered in blood on that cliff. How could she let them get a Amelia heard Madelyn's response and finally breathed a sigh of relief. She asked eagerly, "When will you be here?"

It was clear why she was in such a rush.

Madelyn hung up in disgust. Despite her anger, she finished the

breakfast and the tea Andrew had prepared. An hour later, she was finally ready to leave. As she opened the door, she spotted Benson waiting outside. Frowning, she asked, "How long have you been here? "I've been waiting a while," Benson replied.

"You don't need to wait for me in the future. Just stick close to Andrew," Madelyn said.

In her previous life, Benson wasn't with Andrew when things went wrong. If Benson had been there that day, would Andrew have...

Madelyn's chest tightened.

Benson furrowed his brows as he scrutinized her closely. He couldn't

read her emotions.

"I mean I can drive myself. You don't have to follow me," Madelyn

added.

Benson didn't respond. Instead, he turned to press the elevator button..

In the car, Madelyn answered Andrew's call. Judging by the background noise, she could tell he was already at the office.

"Have you finished breakfast?" Andrew asked, sounding concerned.

Madelyn hummed in response. Even though she didn't care for the Garcias, Amelia's influence still weighed on her emotions. Her voice sounded somewhat subdued.

"What about the tea?" Andrew asked,

"I've already had it. Darling, I'm not a child."

"I worry you won't listen!"

Despite thinking Andrew was a bit naggy, Madelyn still felt loved. His attentive care was reassuring to her. They chatted affectionately in

the car.

Andrew suggested Benson drop her off at the office at noon to have lunch together. However, Madelyn mentioned she would be having lunch with Carrie and Stella instead. She had realized Carrie and Stella v to Andrew.

Feeling Andrew's displeasure, Madelyn said, "I'll grab lunch and come see you right after."

It was only then that Andrew relented and stopped pressing the issue. Madelyn could hear Jason's voice on the other end of the phone, announcing a meeting was about to start. So, they hung up.

As they arrived at the Garcia residence, Madelyn saw Amelia eagerly waiting at the entrance. It was ironic. When they had brought Madelyn from the Millers, only Nora had come to fetch her. Now, Amelia was Pulling up the car, Benson said, "Mr. Miller said I could come in with you."

Madelyn smiled at Benson and asked, "Do I look like I'm about to get smacked?"
