Chapter 73

After lunch, the three women exited the restaurant. Carrie left first to attend an urgent matter at her company.

Stella noticed that Madelyn didn't have a driver and offered, "Do you

want a ride?"

"Sure."

Madelyn got into Stella's car without hesitation. After spending a few years abroad, Madelyn could tell that Stella had become more composed and mature.

Stella lit a cigarette. "Do you mind?"

Madelyn smiled. "You're already smoking, so why ask?"

Among the three, Madelyn was the only non-smoker, but she was accustomed to the smell from being around Andrew. It didn't bother

her.

Noticing the constant worry in Stella's expression, Madelyn asked, Have you gone back home?"

Stella shook her head. Seeing this, Madelyn wasn't sure what to say.

Though Madelyn wasn't loved by her parents, Stella's situation was just as complicated.

Stella's mother had passed away three years ago, and her father had remarried a woman who brought along an older stepbrother. Since then, Stella hadn't returned home. "I'm heading back to Felasko in a week," Stella said.

Madelyn was alarmed to hear that. Memories from her past life

As a result of her relationship with Andrew, Madelyn's last meeting with Stella was at her grandmother's birthday banquet. After that, they never saw each other privately.

Three days after Stella got into trouble, Andrew deceived Madelyn and promised to take her to Felasko. She had intended to seek out Stella there, but instead, she received devastating news.

Noticing Madelyn's silence, Stella turned to her. "What's the matter? Why are you so pale?"

Madelyn brushed aside her thoughts and looked at Stella. "Is it

because you hate your father? Or is it because you don't want to see that woman?"

"Both," Stella said truthfully. Her eyes flashed with disgust when Madelyn mentioned Stella's father and stepmother.

Madelyn knew that Stella's stepbrother, Sebastian Jimenez, was a spoiled playboy.

He had gained a notorious reputation in various entertainment clubs over the years. High society viewed him as a stain on the Jimenez family's reputation.

Many remarked that it would have been better if her father, Robert Jiminez, only had a daughter, Stella. What good was it to have a useless fool who couldn't bring the family honor? Stella despised Sebastian.

Not wanting Stella to return to Felasko, Madelyn asked, "Do you really want the company your mother built to fall into their hands?"

Stella's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and she glanced at Madelyn. Upon seeing Stella's expression flickering, Madelyn knew her words had hit home.

After dropping Madelyn off at Andrew's company, Stella sped away.

Madelyn knew that she was heading home.

Andrew had been waiting for Madelyn. As she stepped out of the elevator on the top floor, she encountered Natalie, who was waiting to get in. Natalie's eyes were red, and she glared at Madelyn with hatred.

Madelyn could tell from Natalie's appearance that something unpleasant had happened. She walked past her with an air of superiority.

After taking a few steps, Madelyn heard Natalie's mocking voice from behind, "Do you think you've won?"

Madelyn frowned and glanced back at her.

Everyone in the secretary department was trying to keep a low profile, wary of the escalating tension.

Seeing that Madelyn didn't respond, Natalie leaned in close and whispered, "Compared to Laura, you're nothing."

Natalie stepped back, expecting to see Madelyn's reaction, but she was disappointed. Madelyn's expression remained unchanged. "Don't you know? While Andrew was abroad, he was always with

Laura."

Laura?
