Chapter 90
"Leave the rest to me. Take her to the hospital now."
Andrew grabbed the car keys hastily and even forgot to thank Wilson. He got into the car swiftly with Madelyn in his arms and sped toward the hospital.
Madelyn stirred back to consciousness groggily and was
greeted by Andrew's stoic expression once she turned toward the driver's seat.
A sharp hiss escaped her lips. Even a slight movement caused her pain.
Andrew glanced at her. Pity flashed in his eyes when he noticed that she was already awake.
"Don't fall asleep again. We're about to reach the hospital soon.
She hummed in acknowledgment. Silence filled the car for the rest of the journey.
Once they arrived at the hospital, Andrew carried Madelyn and exited the car.
"Does anywhere else hurt?" he whispered. He only managed to spot her head injury earlier.
"My feet," she said.
The car crash earlier had crumpled her car, causing her feet to get stuck. Her feet must have been injured then.
Andrew's gaze traced her legs, but he didn't spot any bloodstains. However, she must've been injured if she said so.
The doctors and nurses were anticipating their arrival at the door. Once they saw Madelyn, they immediately hoisted her on a stretcher and rushed her into the emergency room.
Andrew felt like his heart had been shattered when the
emergency room's door slammed shut. His mind went blank. Only now did he begin to wonder why she suddenly showed up
earlier.
Elijah was calling him again. Looking grim, Andrew answered his call.
"Let Easton go, then I'll also spare Madelyn," Elijah said from the other end of the line.
Rowan and Jason had succeeded. Judging by Elijah's tone, he certainly seemed anxious.
Andrew chanced a glance at the emergency room and said coldly, "It seems like you've offended a lot of people because you've been too reckless these years."
"Andrew, he's your nephew!" Elijah boomed.
"Then has it ever crossed your mind that she's your sister-in-law?"
"Do you still want that woman or not?"
"Of course I want my wife. But I'm afraid you won't be able to take your son back!"
"What are you going to do?" Elijah's tone grew grim and
menacing.
Losing the patience to deal with Elijah, Andrew hung up swiftly. He only realized that Elijah had been trying to contact him after glancing at the countless missed calls and messages on his phone. Jason's call immediately came through.
"Do we need to bring him back to Klago City?" Jason asked.
"No. Don't let him come back again."
"Noted." Jason understood his intention.
Not only did Andrew intend to get Easton out of Madelyn's sight, but he also wanted to make Elijah suffer.
Lance picked his heir meticulously when he was still alive and saw right through Elijah's tricks back then. Andrew hadn't expected Elijah to be defiant even though years had passed. Waiting was tormenting. Andrew waited for an hour, and event the hospital director came to keep him company.
Once the door to the emergency room opened, Andrew strode forward and asked, "How is she?
He took the initiative to ask before the doctor could even
summon the patient's family.
The doctor removed his mask and said, "She has a sprained ankle, and her forehead is mildly injured. Remember to change the dressing so it won't scar."
With the amount of blood Madelyn shed, Andrew hadn't
expected her to suffer from just a mild injury. He was relieved.
In the next instant, the doctor continued, "We performed a
thorough examination on her and noticed some blood clots in her brain. You should be aware of this."
"Blood clots? Wasn't it just a mild injury?" Andrew sounded sullen.
Even if he wasn't a doctor, he was aware of how grave the situation was if blood clots were present in the brain.
The doctor patiently explained, "Judging by the degree of coagulation, the blood clots have been there for quite some time. This recent injury doesn't seem to be the cause."
