Chapter 98
Madelyn visibly loosened up, quipping, "Sure, you trust me, but didn't you also think that I eloped with Easton this time?"
Andrew was rendered speechless. Well, she certainly knew how to hold a grudge.
Madelyn was very worried that he didn't believe her. Now that she'd finally cut all ties with Easton, she no longer wanted to be acquainted with him again.
As soon as Andrew dropped her off at home, Wilson called. He answered his call and told her, "I have to go to the company Behave at home."
"Yeah, go ahead."
"No more messing around, darling. You can only stay at home," Andrew stated firmly, emphasizing his last line.
He was clearly worried about her
"Sure, don't worry! Go ahead. I'll behave and stay at home," Madelyn promised.
Having helped him escape from his crisis, she had nothing else to worry about. All she yearned for was a proper rest at _home.
Her reassurance eased Andrew Still, he ordered David to not let her leave Serenity Villa and call him if she was up to any trouble. Half-asleep, Madelyn was awakened by the commotion outside. She thought she heard Amelia's voice. Struggling to keep her eyes open, she got out of bed and saw Amelia confronting David through her window. Having lost her composure, Amelia hollered, "Why won't you let me in? I'm Mrs. Miller's mother!"
David looked grim. "Mr. Miller has given orders that no one from the Garcia family is allowed inside!"
Amelia's expression soured. Infuriated, she whisked out her phone and called Madelyn.
Her audacity to show up at this time certainly caught Madelyn off guard. Hearing her phone vibrate, she picked it up. "Hello." "Maddie, it's Mom."
Madelyn fell silent.
Noting Amelia's attitude, Madelyn turned sullen. Of course she knew Amelia didn't harbor any affection for her. The
gentleness she feigned at the moment was probably part of her schemes.
With this thought in her mind, she couldn't be bothered to be polite.
"What is it?" she asked curtly.
"Can you let me in first?"
"No!" Madelyn refused bluntly.
Madelyn's abrasive response stunned Amelia. Suppressing her
urge to reprimand Madelyn, she began patiently, "I know you don't want to see me. I'll pass the soup to David instead.
Remember to drink it.'
Soup? Elena used to bring pork chops to her all the time, and now it was soup.
Madelyn snorted. Not bothering to show even a hint of courtesy, she said waspishly, "Is this because the Garcia family has yet to settle the project and bank loan?" Silence fell over the call, and a sneer crossed Madelyn's face.
Well, this was what her mother was like. Amelia also behaved the same in her previous life, only bothering to act like a mother to please her whenever she needed something from her. But if she didn't need her, her attitude would change completely.
Madelyn was already fed up with this.
Noting how disrespectful Madelyn was, Amelia turned pale with rage. "I've been up since early morning making this soup for you, and this is how you speak to me?"
"Spit it out. What do you want this time?" Madelyn didn't want to waste time talking to her.
A menacing look flashed in Amelia's eyes.
She could sense the palpable distance widening between them, and she desperately wanted to throw the thermos away and leave. But remembering the Garcia family's current plight, she held back. "Your sister's pregnant."
So, she was here for Elena.
Madelyn sneered. "Did you come to tell me that you're siding with Elena?"
"Madelyn, you're a Garcia. I believe you know how important it is to have a strong family backing you. If the Garcia family
falls, it won't benefit you at all!"
