Chapter 131

Unexpectedly, the rumored cold and heartless Andrew could also be sharp–tongued, capable of making people feel utterly humiliated with just a single sentence.

Krista’s dissatisfaction with Madelyn diminished slightly and was replaced by a trace of sympathy.

Previously, she had been jealous of Madelyn’s seemingly good luck despite not expressing it out loud. But now, she realized that the latter’s life might have been hard.

Then, thinking of the losses caused to her family by Miller Group taking back Equilwood Village, she refocused on her purpose and handed the project proposal to Andrew.

She exclaimed in a slightly tense voice, “I’m here today because of the Equilwood Village project.”

Andrew’s disdain for the Garcia family deepened when he heard it was about the Equilwood Village project.

Even at such a time, Matthew still refused to speak to

Andrew in person and sent his attractive daughter instead. Clearly, the family had other intentions.

He now felt even more sympathy for Madelyn, realizing how the Garcia family had never cared for her.

Andrew raised a brow.

“Did Maddie not explain it clearly to you all?”

Hearing Andrew mention Madelyn again stunned Krista.

“Maddie did explain it clearly to us when she came home, but you know how important the Equilwood Village project is to our family. The initial investment hasn’t been recouped yet. As such, my father wants a five–year extension!”

After saying her piece, her heart was in her throat.

Before coming here, Krista had assured her family that she could get Andrew to extend the project for five years, but now, just uttering what she needed to say made her feel immense pressure.

Andrew was different from the men she had encountered

abroad.

She had a feeling that it would be challenging to achieve her

goal that day.

The atmosphere was suffocatingly silent. Janet brought in coffee just as she was about to say something else.

Suddenly, Andrew said, “Go to the HR department and collect your salary. You’re fired from this moment onward.”

Janet’s hand trembled as she tried to pour Krista a cup of coffee, spilling coffee on the glass table.

“Mr. Miller, I–I know I was wrong. Please don’t fire me. I have an 80–year–old grandmother to take care of!” Janet’s voice

cracked as she pleaded, sounding like she was about to cry.

Andrew pressed his lips together, and with a sharp glance, Janet immediately shut her mouth.

“I–I’ll go to the HR department right away!”

She placed the coffee down and ran out crying.

Krista was shocked. She hadn’t expected Andrew to be so hard–hearted. She silently questioned if the Equilwood Village issue could even be solved that day.

When Madelyn heard from Rowan that Andrew was in the meeting room and had asked for her, she was perplexed

As soon as she reached the meeting room door, she saw Janet running out in tears. She frowned and pushed open the door, only to see Andrew and Krista inside.

Krista was wearing a white dress with an excessively low neckline, which seemed out of character for the aloof and proud Krista she knew. Krista was undoubtedly much more. alluring that day.

“Why are you here?”

The coldness in Andrew’s eyes disappeared when he saw Madelyn. It was replaced by almost overflowing gentleness.

Krista thought she was seeing things and almost believed. she was hallucinating.

She felt that the sliver of sympathy she had for Madelyn

was a joke.

Madelyn approached them, muttering, “What happened just now? Why was the secretary crying?”

She was sure Janet was someone Frank had introduced into the company. Now that Janet was crying, she wondered if his and Andrew’s friendship would be okay.

Andrew grabbed her hand and patiently explained, “People who don’t follow the rules will inevitably cause trouble for you in the future.”

“Huh?”

Madelyn was confused.

Krista was shocked by Andrew’s actions, believing she must have misunderstood again.

She considered if Andrew had known that she and Janet were acquainted and that Janet had deliberately let her in, and wondered if he had fired Janet because of Madelyn.

Krista felt a chill run down her spine when she thought

about it.

On top of that, her jealousy resurfaced after seeing how gentle Andrew was with Madelyn.

The silly–looking Madelyn seemed puzzled by Andrew’s words. Meanwhile, he glanced at the clock on the wall.

“It’s time to get off work. Let’s go.”

After standing up, Andrew took Madelyn’s hand and walked out without even glancing at Krista.

Madelyn was filled with disgust and hatred for the Garcia

family, so she naturally ignored Krista and didn’t even greet her when entering the room.

As such, Madelyn readily left with Andrew.
