“I can see for myself if something is going on between you two and decide if he is worthy of my hand inmarriage! It’ll be like killing two birds with one stone!” Aurora said.

Vicky did not know if all noble ladies who grew up under their parent’s watchful eyes behaved this way.As she stared into the innocent look in Aurora’s eyes, she said, “Did you not see the way Tyler washolding me just now?”

“That’s because you fell,” Aurora said. “You were injured and couldn’t walk. Wouldn’t it be normal forhim to help you up?” She chuckled innocently. “Doesn’t that show how much of a caring person he is?”

Vicky was rendered speechless and realized that hinting that something was wrong would not work.

Vicky took a deep breath and decided to be honest. “Miss Starling, there’s something… I want to tellyou.”

“What is it?” Aurora asked curiously.

“Tyler and I… We’re not completely separated… I… I…” Vicky found it difficult to put into words. Finally,she mustered her courage and said, “On the night of Old Madam Harrison’s birthday banquet… Ientered the wrong room and… and I…”

Vicky struggled to continue.

Both of them were adults, so she was hoping that Aurora would be able to understand what she wasimplying.

Aurora widened her eyes and asked, “Do you mean to say that you and Tyler…”

Vicky closed her eyes and said, “I’m sorry, Miss Starling.”

She expected Aurora to slap her in the face, but instead of a slap, she heard Aurora’s laughter.

Confused, Vicky opened her eyes.

Aurora smiled and said, “Vicky, you’re so adorable. You can’t even lie properly.”

“What? Lie?”

“Yes, if something had really happened between you and Tyler that night, do you think Elijah would beunaware of it? Missus Harrison even mentioned that the Harrison family would have a grandchildsoon.” Aurora sighed helplessly and said, “Vicky, I know it’s difficult for you to accommodate both meand Tyler under your roof, but… I’m currently in a situation where I can’t go home and I can’t stay atTyler’s place. Now that he’s injured and needs care…” She paused to sigh and added, “It’s my fault fornot explaining to you what happened, that must be why you stabbed him. His severe injury iscomplicating this whole thing now. How I wish he wasn’t injured…” She snapped out of it and coveredher mouth frantically. “Oh… Vicky, I don’t mean to blame you! It’s just that Tyler needs someone to takecare of him and… I don’t want others to replace out… What if they come after you… I really don’t mean tosound like I’m blaming you.”

Despite what Aurora said, Vicky knew that it was her fault. Aurora had close to no involvement in theincident and Vicky had merely lost control because of Tyler’s relentless taunting. Logically, Aurorashould not bear the consequences that followed.

At the moment, Aurora was offering to help with taking care of Tyler and even agreed to keep the entireincident a secret, so Vicky knew that she had no right to reject Aurora’s kind request.

As her final struggle, she said, “I’m not saying that because I don’t want you to stay here, Miss Starling.Tyler and I… don’t really get along.”

Aurora did not buy it and chuckled. “I know you two don’t get along. Why else would you get a divorce?If something really was going on between you two, you wouldn’t dare keep it from me. It’s settled, then.Leave taking care of Tyler to me. You can get on with your life and we won’t cause you any trouble.”She tapped Vicky on the shoulder and said, “I should go and check on Tyler. It’s getting late, so youshould get some sleep.”

With that, Aurora left the room, and Vicky remained frozen in place.
