Luna Abigail
Chapter 17

Abby’s P.O.V

I am laying in the hospital bed. I’ve been here since I woke up weeks ago, and the doctor finally told me I can go back to me and Matt’s room in the pack house. Matt has been with me since I woke up and we talked the doctor into letting people come back a few days after my wake up. The doctor gave me permission to have everyone as guests, so I could talk to everyone at once.

We talked about it all, my talk with Keres and Selene, the fact they are sisters and how Keres wanted to keep in her world. We talk about what happened when the girls entered my hospital room, how the guys got locked out, not able to enter after the girls. Their fear of what was happening, and why they couldn’t go in there. The girls told me about the pull they all felt towards my room, and how it became stronger when they all gathered outside together. We then went over the event that happened, and how we faced not only Keres, but her demons as well. The girls filled in whenever they felt like it and together we got a more complete picture of our powers and the internal ranking between us. They all felt a strong bond between us, a loyalty and obligation towards Galaxy and a strong feeling of family. But there was no doubt in their minds that Ellie would be my second, if such an event should ever occur, not only because of her b***d but because of the family and magical tie we share.

When we have discussed all the events that transpired in the goddess’s world, all the guys have pitch black eyes, teeth have elongated and their aura are off the charts. All of them, no exceptions made, are furious and in protective mode. I internally roll my eyes.

“Boys, you need to calm down. Now!” I demand, using my Queen aura to get them to obey. All the girls giggle, and the tension lessens slightly. Matt looks at me with wide eyes and then stalks towards me like I’m his prey.

“Did you just order me to submit to an order, little Luna?” He asks in a deep husky voice, which can only belong to Blade.

“Yes, do we have a problem, my fierce wolf?” I ask back, looking him in the eyes and all but daring him to say yes.

“Mhhm, I might have to get everyone to leave this room so I can..” I interrupt promptly.

“You will do no such thing, Blade. This is a hospital, not our room. What you have in mind is properly highly indecent, so the answer there is; no.” Blade gives me puppy dog eyes, a pout and sighs. He lets Matt take control again, and the latter lets out a deep laugh.

“You so disappointed him there, my love.” He says, while kissing me on the forehead. I shake my head at their silliness, and we continue to discuss what it could mean that the dark goddess meddled as much as she was doing. I had a bad feeling about it, and Benjamin promised me to get a meeting with the Hamiltons set up as quickly as possible.

“It might take a minute, Luna. I know they have had their own trouble to attend too. They still need to officially crown Dana, Jayden, Max and Storm as Kings and Queen – though I believe they were talking about changing Max and Storm’s titles to Crown Prince or High Prince instead of King, because it is highly confusing to keep track of them all.” He explains. I nod, and tell him as soon as possible, but at their connivance. He looks at Matt for confirmation, to which he nods.

It’s been almost a week since our meeting in my hospital room, and I am going stir crazy. Matt has been sweet to bring me different things to entertain myself with, and yesterday his mom came by, again, to tell me the progress of my official Luna ceremony, which we haven’t been able to hold yet because of certain events. Ornata insisted on, when I woke up, that I wouldn’t have to stress about anything, she and Matt’s sister had everything under control, and they would confer every detail with me, but with small options, so it was going to be what I envisioned. And I say I because Matt told me to go crazy, and it was all about me. I will, of course, make it about both of us and therefore I have involved Matt’s dad in the process as well, and he promised to keep Ornata and the girls to go to crazy and keep an eye out for Matt’s wishes.

As I am sitting in my own thoughts about the color of the dress to the coronation, I am interrupted by my phone going off. I wasn’t expecting a call, so I pick it up, thinking it was one of the girls, but the caller ID shows my dad’s name. He has been sweet to check in on a more regular basis since I woke up, and Matt told me he had been calling him while Keres held me hostage.

“Hi dad. What’s up?” I ask, but the caller answering me is definitely not my dad and in the shock at hearing his voice again I throw my phone down, hanging up. It is a voice I will never forget, and a person I never want to talk to again. Matt looks up from his paperwork, rushing to my side when he sees my white, shocked face.

“Babe, who was that?” Matt asks, clearly knowing wasn’t my dad at the other end. I shake as the memories of that day rush to the forefront of my mind, capturing me in the pain from that day. Matt promptly lifts me off the bed, sits down and places me in his lap, running circles on my back while whispering, shooting words in my ear. As my body calms down by the touch and voice of my mate, dread fills me. Why did he have my dad’s phone, and why was he calling me?

My phone rings again, and this time Matt picks up.

“Hello, Henrik? Who called a minute ago? No.. Yes.. No, I’m putting you on speaker. She is still shaking from before.. I don’t care.. AND SHE IS MY MATE!” I jump at Matt’s raised voice, but understand my dad tried to pull out the “she is my daughter,” card. He puts down the phone and presses on the speaker.

“We are both here. What is it that is so urgent?” Matt asks impatiently.

“Darling?” My dad’s unsure voice rings through.

“Dad! Why did he have your phone? Are you okay? What happened?” I ask in a hurry. Dad laughs a nervous laughter.

“I need you to listen to him, darling. He is going to tell you some things you will not like, but he is trying to protect you and Matt.” I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Listen to him. No way!

“Uhm, excuse you! Listen to him? Are you hearing yourself? I can’t, dad.” I whisper, yell. Why in all the realm would I listen to that good-for-nothing Alpha, who not only did nothing when my mom got executed, but rejected me right after, like I was nothing?

“Abby, I know what he did to you, but this is important! Not only for you, but for your pack, your family, and your mate. Please, baby girl.” My father pleads. I look at Matt, who has an indifferent look in his eyes. He shrugs his shoulders.

“We will listen, Henrik, but I am staying on the line and he better be behaving or I will challenge him to death as I should have done when I found Abby.” Matt growls, clearly not liking where this conversation is going.

“We will call you back when we are back in our room.” Matt says and hangs up.

Daemon’s P.O.V

I sat there in my chair, trying to look serious, but somehow I felt like I was failing miserably. Henrik kept looking like I was crazy and then shakes his head.

“I’m sorry, alpha. I thought you said you need to talk to Abigail?” He asks in a confused tone. I nod.

“I did.” I answer curtly. His eyes widen at that statement.

“Alpha, I’m not sure if my daughter will speak with you. If you will excuse my tardiness.” His posture straightens. He seems like he is bracing himself for my wrath. I sigh.

“I know that. That is why I need your help and your phone. She will never pick up, should I even try to call her. But I need to talk to her and then to alpha Matthew. They are in danger, far more than they properly know.” I say with gritted teeth. Sylla’s plan has my heart raising and I need to warn Abby. My wolf is pacing in my head. He wants to talk to her, to apologize for all the heartache we caused her. Not that I didn’t agree, but I probably wouldn’t go that far. It would seem fake, and I couldn’t afford that.

‘Then let me out, dammit. I can convince her and her wolf that we are truly sorry,’ Jackson snarls in my head. I push him back into the back of my mind and concentrate on the task at hand.

“Will you try to call her, please?” I ask, the politeness eating at me. He should just do it, but I got nowhere with being an a*s, and this polite and nice Daemon may have to take some getting use too. For me as well.

“I will try, alpha.” Henrik agrees and pulls out his phone. I instruct him to put it on speaker and give it to me. I will speak to her, but he can hear everything and be a background support. He pulls up the number and calls. As it rings, I feel nervous. What am I going to say to her? What if she doesn’t want to talk to me or starts yelling? I take a deep breath when a beautiful female voice rings out from the speaker.

“Hi dad. What’s up?” She asks. Her voice is still by far the most melodic I have ever heard. The way a simple question can lead your thoughts to the most beautiful of music or the waves of the water. Sweet and innocent, but dangerous and luring at the same time. The ache in my chest tightens. How did I ever reject her? Ugh. I need to concentrate.

“Hi Abigail. I need to speak with you, please.” The line goes dead silent, before ‘beep beep beep’ she hung up. I put my head in my hands. I royally f****d this up.

“May I call her again, alpha? Maybe if I can with her first, she will understand.” Henrik asks with a shaky voice. He is still afraid of me with and not without reason. I wave my hand in his direction, and he calls again, putting the phone on speaker phone without me asking.

“Hello, Henrik?” A male voice answers the phone. Where is Abby? Oh no, she didn’t faint because I answered. My head is spinning at the thought of having hurt her again.

“Who called a minute ago?” The male voice asks when Henrik confirms it is him on our end. He explains it was me, and the male does not seem happy about it.

“Is Abby okay, Matthew?” Henrik asks, and I hold my breath. The answer can’t be anything but yes.

“No.” He answers. F**k!

“Is she still conscious?” Is the next question? The suspension is killing me slowly.

“Yes.” That slows my heart rate down to almost normal.

“Can I please talk to her?” Henrik tries to persuade the male on the other end. Matthew. Wait, alpha Matthew? That, of course, made sense, but he didn’t sound friendly minded towards his father-in-law.

“No, I’m putting you on speaker. She is still shaking from before.” He answers. Okay, so he will let Henrik speak to her and, by default, let me hear her voice again. I should feel sorry for how much I enjoy her voice, but I don’t.

“I really want to speak to just Abby, Matthew.” Henrik tries again.

“I don’t care..” A clearly frustrated father interrupts Matthew.

“She IS my daughter, alpha.”

“AND SHE IS MY MATE!” He screams back. Worry and anger seethes from his voice, he just want to protect her. I shake my head at Henrik, showing I am okay with them having the phone on speaker as well.

“We are both here. What is it that is so urgent?” Matthew asks, clearly impatient to get this over with.

“Darling?” Henrik asks, unsure if she is really there. How I wish I could call her that?

“Dad! Why did he have your phone? Are you okay? What happened?” Abigail asks her father in a hurry. Henrik laughs a nervous laughter, looking at me as if asking what to say.

‘Tell her the truth. I am not trying to play either her or you. I have changed, recently yes, but changed none the less.’ I mind-link my former beta.

“I need you to listen to him, darling. He is going to tell you some things you will not like, but he is trying to protect you and Matt.” There is silence for a long time, for me at least before she answers.

“Uhm, excuse you! Listen to him? Are you hearing yourself? I can’t, dad.” She whisper-yells into the phone.

“Abby, I know what he did to you, but this is important! Not only for you, but for your pack, your family, and your mate. Please, baby girl.” Henrik pleads with his daughter. He is trying to make her and her mate see reason and it’s taking everything in me not to say anything, but let him lead the way.

“We will listen, Henrik, but I am staying on the line and he better be behaving or I will challenge him to death as I should have done when I found Abby.” Matthew growls, clearly not liking where this conversation is going. Or that his mate has to speak with her ex mate.

“We will call you back when we are back in our room.” Matt says and hangs up. I let out a small sigh. This is going to be a long afternoon and evening. Things are moving fast, and I need to act faster to save her. Even if I never get a mate again, I have at least saved who could have been mine.

Jackson is humming in my mind. He likes where I’m going and a plan is slowly forming. I need to get rid of my father’s poisonous ways of living without alarming him or Sylla. Henrik is going to be an important ally, but how to convince him of my true motives.

As I am grumbling my dilemmas, as bright silver light emerges in my office, taking both of us off guard.

“Don’t worry, my son, I will help you make them see.” A female voice says, before a woman walks out of the light.

What. The. Hell.

Abigail’s P.O.V

Matthew hung up the phone, got up from the bed and goes to the door. He calls down the hall for the doctor, probably because he didn’t want to leave me completely alone. I didn’t honestly know what to think or feel. That awful alpha had actually fooled my dad, and now I was back at square one. I didn’t know where I had my father. The tears prickled my eyes, but I wouldn’t let them fall, not for him or them, actually. They didn’t deserve it, but I deserved peace, and I contemplated asking Matt to not call back and just leave them hanging. But something in my gut told me this was important, however painful it made may be.

The doctor finally came in with the paperwork and I could go home. Matt locked hands with me as we left the hospital. Pack members kept congratulating me on my recovery and I remembered to thank them all for the flowers, chocolate and get-well cards they had sent me while I was there. Children came running up to us with wildflowers, like the time where I had beaten Maria. Matt smiled proudly, and the more brave ones of the kids even gave him a smile and a high-five, which surprised Matt just as much as me. Even though my mate is a big softy towards me and his family, his rumor as a fierce fighter and strict alpha far proceeds that.

When we reached the packhouse, a little slower than expected because of kids and adult alike, we headed straight for our room but didn’t get very far before a loud squeal sounded from behind us. I recognised that voice everywhere now, Willow!

“Abby! You are back!” The little spitfire yells, before she launches herself into my embrace. It feels so good to hug her again. She has been very careful since that first day, and both Matt and Jax told her to not throw herself at me.

“Hey little one. I’m okay, I promise.” I soothe the child as she sniffles on my shoulder. Willow nods and turn to Matt.

“Keep her safe!” She says sternly before turning and running outside. Jax shakes his head at me with a smile.

“She’s been so worried you wouldn’t come back home. We were all worried.” He says. “It’s good to see you up and about.” He nods at Matt before going after Willow.

As we enter our room, I let out a big sigh. It’s so good to be home. Matt takes me to the sitting area in our room, and pulls out my phone, which he has held on to this whole time. Just in case.

We lock eyes.

“Are you sure you are up for this today? I can call them and say it has to wait until you have resettled?” He brushes a finger down my cheek, voice and eyes so filled with worry on my behalf.

“I love you, Matt. You are so sweet to want to take care of me, but this is important and we need to make the call.” I say lovingly, and I lean in and peck him on the lips.

“Well, here goes nothing then.” He states as the phone rings.
