Luna Abigail
Chapter 18

Daemon’s P.O.V

What. The. Hell?

“Who are you? And why are you in my office?” I ask while jumping up alert. Herink is up as well, and has moved in front of me in a protective stance. He may not like me very much as his alpha, especially for what I did to Abby, but he is a loyal member of my pack and this proves it once and for all. He is actually willing to protect me from this danger, even though none of us knows what we are up against.

“Relax my children.” The female says. Her voice has a whisper of a cool night under the full moon, parred with the howls of the pack. She is gorgeous, and tall, with an aura I have never encountered before. Jackson purrs in my mind, which he never does.

‘It’s the moon goddess, you dumbass.’ He snickers, before I fall to my knees. Henrik, who’s wolf, probably has told him the same thing, falls right beside me.

“Great Mother, I didn’t recognise you. For that, I am terribly sorry.” I say sincerely. The woman laughs and beckons us to stand.

“I have taken no ill will, son of Fenrir.” She says and a small frown shows upon her face.

“But I am disappointed in you, Daemon. I never intended for you to become as cruel and coldhearted as your father. I had hoped that the unfair execution of Mallory you would distant yourself from him. I never expected you to reject poor Abigail as publicly as you did. It was uncalled for, my son.” She says, her voice is not raised or angry, but quiet and disappointment swims in every word. I feel small under the stare of the Great Mother of all wolves and Jackson is whimpering in my head, head low and tail between his legs.

“I. I. But..” The words keep stuck in my throat. I actually disappointed our goddess. Damn. I was a lousy alpha.

“I am trying to make up for my past mistakes, Mother.” She waves a hand.

“Oh, pish posh with the titles. My names is Selene, and I am here partially to make you understand some things, to offer my help and to make sure that stubborn Queen to Abigail actually listens to you.” She sits down in one of my guest chairs and we do the same. Henrik beside Selene and me opposite them. Wait, did she say Abby is a Queen? What the hell.

“I’m sorry, Selene. Did you call my daughter Queen?” Henrik asks before I can get to it. She nods curtly.

“Of course she is! Mallory was the Queen of Witches, and Galaxy is the Queen of wolves, so in conclusion, Abigail is the Queen of both witches and wolves.” She states, looking at us funny.

This was definitely a turn of events I didn’t expect. I threw away a Queen for a mate, because my father told me to. I shook my head and hid it in my hands. Seriously, I’m useless.

“Nah, uh, don’t blame or pity yourself there, boy. I paired you and Abigail, because I needed her to leave this judgemental pack to replace her true mate. But even though you rejected and humiliated her in public, her obligation to her pack was strong and she stayed. Even I didn’t see that coming.” She explains. So this means that Abby and I never were meant to be together. Somehow I felt betrayed, but also very relieved. I look up at the goddess, the question on the tip of my tongue, but I’m so afraid of the answer.

“Yes, she is out there, and no, I will not let you meet before I am sure you have your priorities straight, Daemon.” She answers the question I’ve been longing for answered so casually. It feels like my heart is going to burst with excitement, but then her words sink in. She will not let us meet before my priorities are straight. What does she think I’m trying to do here?

Henrik looks between me and the goddess.

“Excuse my intrusion, but would you maybe start from the beginning with all of this?” He says politely, turning fully to Selene. She thinks for a second and fills us in.

“So, am I getting this straight? They have held my daughter captured by your sister, the dark goddess Keres, in her world, because she wants the demons and dark creatures to take over the world? And in addition, Abby now has two half sisters who are good and pure and a half sister who is evil like no other, just because the goddess of witches needed more from her bloodline and made sure that one of the demons pairs she killed during the war, would be pregnant and have a safety plan? AND ANOTHER impregnated her so she would have two fully blooded children? Am I missing something here? SHE WAS MY MATE AND YOU USED HER AS A BREEDING MACHINE!” Henrik was breathing heavily after he practically exploded on the goddess. I leaned back in my chair, deep in thought. He had all the reason in the realm to be absolutely outraged with our goddess and the goddess of witches. They had played him and Mallory as a couple of pawns in a chess game.

“I understand your frustrations, Henrik. But as you both rejected each other..”

“I was forced to do so, or my manic alpha would have killed them both.” Henrik interrupts quietly, looking at me apologetically.

“That may be the case, but you rejected each other none the less, and we need more than one child of Mallory’s bloodline. And no, we did not count of the demons to have an ,”in case of death” plan for their babies. More so, when we found out, my sister actually went to Mallory and tried to talk her out of having the twins. She would not listen and told Monica to go to hell.” She sighed. “We never expected for you two to be separated by Fenrir. Mallory was supposed to be a bridge between your pack and the modern way of thinking, but we underestimated his hatred towards none wolves.”

We sat in silence for a while, Henrik and I trying to take in everything we were told. I suddenly remembered she was here to offer her help, as well as filling us in and helping with Abby.

“Selene, what was the help you wanted to offer?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah. I know you worry about Sylla and her tricks of magic, and your father and his minions. I want to help you with both. We are taking your father and his loyal followers wolves with me. Loke, has reached out on behalf of them all, and they don’t like the way their counterpart treat their mates or the way they want to ,”purify” the realm. This way you can banish them to the human realm, and make it so no one knows where they are. I will make sure of that. So, I’m also going to protect your mind. That way no one who you haven’t allowed in can’t read, see or force their way in, in any capacity. A wall will meet them, so to say.” She finishes with a bright smile, and my shoulders slump together. They have taken two big concerns from them.

I mind-link my father. If this is to be done, I’ll do it while Selene is still here. My link surprises him, but he promises to get everyone together and come to my office. As there is a knock on the door, Henrik stands up to unlock and open it. In saunters my father and his most trusted men and women. Henrik closes the door after the last one and sits down again, not even recognising my father as the former alpha who still needs to be respected. Not that I blame him.

“Father, I have someone who you need to meet face to face.” Selene turns around in the chair, a sombre expression on her gorgeous face.

“Alpha Fenrir. I am here today to uphold a promise to your wolf. Do you know who I am?” She asks sternly. Father nods with nervous eyes. Selene stands.

“You have all disappointed me, but more so, you have all abused your position in this pack. It is time things change for the better. Therefore; I, Selene, Goddess of the Moon and Mother to all Wolves, herby call all the wolves from this assembly forth to go back to my realm and wait for rebirth to a new counterpart.” We all feel the power in her words as gusts of wind swirls around and one by one, eyes shine. Wolf by wolf, they bow their head to Selen before leaving in a small light, making their human fall to their knees. My father is the only one standing. His eyes are shining, showing Loke is present.

“Thank you, Great Mother. Sorry, Daemon.” He says before he, as the alpha leaves last. Father falls on his knees as well, ridden of the wolf, now fully human.

“It has been done.” Selene says tiredly, before sitting down. I stand, rise my head up and look at all the people I once called family. From my father, to my uncles, the former gamma and his mate, Druella and her son. Different pack members like one doctor, a few nurses and a teacher. I shake my head at them all.

“Stand, all of you.” I demand in my alpha voice.

“I, alpha Daemon, of the Black Moon pack, hereby banish all of you to live in the human realm. You will never set foot in my pack ever again, and you will not get the chance to say goodbye or pack.” I say in an icy voice. Selene opens the portal to the human realm. One by one, people walk towards it, not even protesting, too shocked by the events to do anything other than what I demanded. Druella trying to plead with Henrik, who rejects her as his answer.

My father looks outraged.

“You will regret this, boy.” He says before leaving with the others.

Henrik and I lock eyes. We were not expecting this to happen today. I just wanted to talk to Abby, and he just wanted to go on with his day. As we take a collective breath, Henrik’s phone start to ring.

We just can’t catch a break.

Abigail’s P.O.V

“Well, here goes nothing then.” He states as the phone rings. We wait in silence while the phone rings, and sigh when my dad’s voice answer.

“Hello?”

“Hi dad. We are both here, so let him on and we’ll get it over with.” I state in a business tone, like the Luna Witch Queen I am, I will not take any bullshit today.

“Hello Luna Abigail, alpha Matthew. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me.” I hear his voice through the phone and want to punch him. Matt takes my hand in his, locking our fingers.

“Hello alpha Daemon.” I answer as politely as I can.

“What can we do for you?”

“I want to speak with you for several reasons, but one of them just happened, so I’ll start there. My father and his supporters are no longer part of my pack. I have banished them to the human realm, never to return. I know this does not bring Mallory back to you, Abby, but I hope it will give some kind of comfort.” Tears immediately spring to my eyes. He has banished his father and his supporters, but why?

“It gives me nothing, alpha Daemon. They killed her without punishment and now you banished them. They will return to our realm as rouges, and by then be my problem. So, excuse me while I don’t thank you.” I say in an annoyed tone.

“You misunderstand, Luna. They have no wolves, therefore they are human. They can’t return.” He says, his voice laced with desperation for me to understand.

“And you want me to believe that?” I ask, not convinced. He can’t remove their wolves. No one but Galaxy and I or the Goddess can do that. Galaxy silently agrees.

“Oh goodness, are there no boundaries for your stubbornness, child?” A female voice, I recognise at once, sounds in the background. Then the ground disappears underneath me and Matt, before it reforms in Selenes’ realm. The tree where Galaxy lay is still there, and that is where I head after getting my bearings.

“Abby, where are we?” Matt asks, concerned. I explain where we are, just in time for a bright silver light to emerge and out of it walk three people. Selene, Daemon and my dad. Matt takes a protective stand in front of me, but Selene shoots him an annoyed look.

“She will not be attacked here, of that I can assure you, little alpha.” She says, just as annoyed as I am feeling. Daemon gives me a small smile.

“Sorry won’t change anything, Abby. But I’m truly sorry for everything. Rejecting you the way I did, your childhood, me bullying you, your mother.” He looks down in shame. He is telling the truth.

“No, it won’t change anything, Daemon. But I appreciate your apologies just the same. If my mate is okay with it, I would like to start anew. Not as friends per se, but as not enemies, maybe?” I say, unsure of it all. I didn’t trust Daemon, but if he really was looking for a change in life, who was I to deny him that? Time would tell if I had made the right choice. Matt thinks for a second, looks at me with unsureness lurking in his eyes, but nods after we have a silent agreement to give Daemon a second chance in life.

“Great, this is a good start. Listen Abby, what Daemon said about his father is true and his and the other wolf spirits are here in my realm once again waiting for another chance.” Selene explains as we all sit down. My dad gives me a hug before moving to sit between me and his alpha.

“Henrik, you are not really needed here, so I have a small present for you.” As Selene says that, a purple light emerges and out walks my mother. Tears stream down her chin as she reaches us. My father hugs her close, lifting her off the ground. I stand to give them both a hug before they walk away, hand in hand.

“Thank you, Selene.” Tears in my eyes, I can’t say anything else to express my gratitude. She smiles and gets us back to the topic at hand.

Daemon tells us everything, from the spies in our and Jason’s pack (which we promised to not bother or let them know we know), to Sylla and her plan. Annika, on the other hand, would befall a tragic accident, so she couldn’t harm Ellie or Willow. Daemon told us about his childhood, and it was more tragic than I had ever thought. His father had been awful to him and his mother, playing the happy father to the pack but beating his own son into submission behind closed doors.

I did not know what to say to Daemon after his story. I had thought he was who I thought he was, but that turned out to be completely wrong.

He was trying so hard to be something else, not go in his father’s footsteps, but hadn’t known how to do that before today. He would change his pack to the better and make sure mates of all species would be welcomed into the pack. I smiled. As his Queen, not crowned yet, mind you, I would have had to take action had he not come to this conclusion himself.

Matt seemed to read my mind, because at that moment, he squeezed my fingers and kissed my temple. Daemon looked jealous, not because he wanted to be the one to do it, but because he just wanted someone to do it, too. Suddenly, he stood up and knelt down.

“Abby, I’ve been made aware that you are our Queen. Jackson has already submitted to your wolf. The royal aura is coming from you and your mate. I would like to pledge myself to you! I promise to always protect the royal bloodline, be it you, your mate, or your children. The Black Moon pack and I will always be at service.” He swears to me and the air is thick with his promise.

“Daemon of the Black Moon pack; your promise honors us. You have given it to our family and our pack. We too promise to be honest, true and help where it is necessary. We will protect all our people. As long as our b***d runs strong, shall we rule with a fair hand.” I answer after standing. The words seem to come to me out of nowhere, not I know them to be true. This is not just a promise to him, but to everyone of my people; witches and wolves alike.

Selene walks over and Matts stands automatically. Daemon move to the background, probably knowing this will be something between the goddess, Matt and I. We both kneel before the goddess before she speaks.

“Abigail, child of Mallory, leader of the Star Wolves, do you promise to uphold the laws of the realm? To help every citizen magical and shifter alike? Do you promise to always be fair and pure of heart?” Selene asks seriously.

“I swear with all my heart and soul.” I promise.

“Matthew, mate of Abby, do you promise to always be by her side, support her and protect her? Do you promise to rule beside her? Always be fair and kind, never letting the darkness overtake either of you? Do you promise to welcome every citizen, magical and shifter alike? Do you promise to always help the people?” Selene asks Matt.

“I promise with all my heart and soul.” He answer. Selene touches our heads and something is weighing down where she touched. A mirror appears in front of us. On Matt’s head is a silver band of purple, silver and dark blue diamonds. On my head there is a rose-gold tiara with purple, silver and bright blue diamonds. In the middle of both there is a purple and silver wolf pendant howling to the moon, surrounded by a purple circle. The symbol of the royal family. Royals of both wolves and magic folk. I feel a power surge through me, and a connection to every creature of my people.

Daemon kneels down.

“My Queen, My King.” He greets. I tell him to stand and never to knell again. I have a feeling we would say that a lot in the future.

“Ah, that was much better. So the last thing I need from all of you now is to say hello to someone special.” Selene states with a bright smile.

A figure is walking towards us, and besides them, a wolf is walking. Suddenly Daemon freezes and his eyes shines turning a dark shade of grey, like the heaven before a thunderstorm. A low growl emits.
