Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 10
Natalia
Blake’s face turned pale and then flushed with anger. His eyes changed colour, and I knew he had been mind-linking Lucas. His Beta showed up in no time, and I admired Blake for his leadership skills.
“Lucas, the rogues are trying to move against our pack. While we fight them off here at the Moon Howler’s pack, most of their forces will be on their way to attack our pack. Our warriors are halfway here to reinforce the army; get Jacob to lead two-thirds of them back to the Dark Moon pack. We must ensure all women and children are protected in the safe house and then station some of our best warriors in crucial positions, setting traps for the rogues. The bast.ards won’t know what hit them when they attack our territory.”
Blake’s voice, full of ferocity, sent chills down my spine. I’d been away for too long and had forgotten what it was like to be involved in werewolf fights. I had enjoyed watching the warriors sparring between themselves as a teenager, but I never witnessed a real battle.
“Sure, Alpha. What about us? Are we going back? You know how important your presence is, Blake.”
I watched as Blake ran his fingers through his hair, frustrated.
“I know, Lucas, but if we both leave, who will lead the defence of the Moon Howlers pack? As the leader, you know that I must always be present for the missions we take as an alliance. What will it look like if I abandon this mission and run back to save my pack? Fu.ck!”
Blake punched the wall next to him and growled, his eyes dark again.
“I have an idea. I need to return to the dungeon alone this time, and I will pretend I need more information from that stinking rogue. If Leia replaces out when they plan to attack here, maybe we will have time to surprise them and attack first. That might give you the time to return to the Dark Moon Stone pack before they get there.”
My eyes never left Blake’s while I spoke.
“Hell, no, Natalia. What if something happens while you are there alone? That is out of the question.”
Blake’s denial confused me.
“What on earth, Blake? I am not a powerless little girl, you know. I have my wolf, and thank the heavens; she is much more reliable than any of you. It is MY pack we are talking about right now! If you forget that damn contract we signed, don’t you think that as the rightful female Alpha of the Moon Howlers pack, I should do something to save my inheritance?”
I knew my eyes had turned dark blue, and Leia was on the verge of taking over. Blake looked at me with confusion and something else in his eyes, but that was just for a minute.
“Feisty!”
He exclaimed, then realised that he had expressed himself out loud. He avoided looking at me and turned to Lucas.
“Accompany Miss White to the dungeon. Do not make your presence visible. If you hear anything peculiar, rush inside, and you know what to do after that.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
Lucas and I left the packhouse, and not long after, we were in front of the dungeon. I entered and walked to the rogue’s cell.
“Well, if it isn’t the bitc.h from before. What’s up, sweetie? Did you miss me? Do you want a real man to satisfy your needs?”
He laughed, baring his rotten teeth, and I felt the need to puke in disgust.
“Natalia, let me take over. All I need is for you to look into his eyes, and don’t look away no matter what. Can you do that for me, sweetie?”
Leia surprised me with her words, but I followed her request, no questions asked. I locked eyes with the rogue and kept quiet.
“What? Are you mute all of a sudden, bi.tch? Come closer, and I will show you what a real male is.”
My eyes turned dark, and I felt Leia coming to the surface. My wolf shifted halfway, surprising me, and the rogue trembled in fear at Leia’s powerful presence.
“Now, now, you fuc.king mutt. Let’s see what happens in that mind of yours. Nox, dear, where are you? Come and meet your destiny, puppy. Open up for me, mutt! That’s an order. Let me know exactly what your leader’s plans are.”
Leia growled loudly, and I watched as the rogue shook, his head moving left and right in denial -he was trying hard not to submit-not for long, though.
“Now!”
Leia’s loud growl gained a whimper from the filthy creature in front of me. He finally submitted and locked eyes with me.
“We got instructions to attack the Moon Howler pack tomorrow evening when the moon hides, and we will not be visible. At the same time, another of our groups, a larger one, will attack and take possession of the Dark Moon Stone pack.”
Nox, the rogue’s wolf, spilt everything to Leia, and I was surprised to hear the fear in his voice while talking to my wolf.
“How many rogues will attack the Dark Moon pack, and how many will attack the Moon Howlers pack?”
Leia’s harsh voice made the rogue whimper again. I felt proud that my wolf was so powerful.
“Four hundred rogues will attack the Dark Moon pack, and two hundred will attack the Moon Howlers pack,” the rogue’s wolf replied obediently.
“Now, Nox, like a good boy, you will forget that we talked; this never happened. I will clear your mind of all thoughts and put your human into a deep slumber. Okay, mutt?”
“Okay.”
With that, Leia withdrew, and I returned to my human form. I watched as the rogue closed his eyes, his head lolling to the right.
“Wow, Leia, that was awesome. I can’t believe you just did that. I am so proud of you, sweetheart.”
“Wait till you see the rest of my abilities, Natalia. I must leave you now; I need to rest to regain my powers. I must admit that interfering with someone’s mind is not easy, and I am tired.”
My wolf giggled and hid in the back of my mind. I left the rogue’s cell and headed back. I found Lucas, who was worried about me.
“We can go back now, Lucas. I got what we needed.”
Lucas smiled at me for the first time under the dim dungeon lights. His smile was sincere, and I couldn’t hold back. I smiled at him, and he patted my shoulder in a friendly way.
We found Blake waiting for us in my dad’s office. When we entered, I saw him take a deep breath and avert his eyes from me. Was that relief in his eyes before he looked away from me?
“Well, Alpha Hunter, I got the information we needed.”
I informed Blake with a smug smile on my face.
“What do you mean?”
Blake
After Natalia and Lucas left for the dungeons, I couldn’t stop feeling worried about her safety. My sources had informed me that she had lived a human life in Italy, no werewolves involved. So I was concerned that a wrong move on her part could cause her death. I had instructed Lucas to be on guard, and I knew he would do so. Still, I couldn’t help but worry.
“Blake, have you noticed that since Natalia has been back, all you do is worry about her? You are worried if she cries, fear for her safety, and all that? Are you sure you are not in love with her?”
“What on earth are you talking about, Aries? How can I be in love with Natalia? I haven’t seen her in ten years, and I hardly know her. Stop this crap, will you?”
Annoyed with my wolf’s words, I blocked him and got in touch with Jacob, my Gamma.
“Jacob, is everything all right?”
“Yes, Alpha. We are heading back to our territory. A team of our warriors is coming toward the Moon Howlers pack, and Lucas will meet them at the gates and lead them into the pack.”
“Good job, Jacob. Follow my instructions and inform me once you arrange everything.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
The office door opened, and Natalia and Lucas walked in. I looked at her, and when I realised she was not hurt, I looked away. I didn’t want her to see the worry in my eyes.
“Well, Alpha Hunter, I got the information we needed.”
She had a smug smile when Ι turned my eyes to her.
“What do you mean?”
She leisurely walked behind her father’s desk and took a seat on his chair. She crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“They plan to attack the Moon Howlers pack using two hundred rogues tomorrow evening when the moon is hidden. At the same time, four hundred rogues will strike the Dark Moon Stone pack-they know that you cannot be in both places simultaneously, Blake.”
“The lunar eclipse!”
Lucas and I said at the same time. It all made sense- the rogue leader had it all planned. A total lunar eclipse would occur the next night, and since the eclipse would last for a few hours, the rogues planned to use that to their advantage and attack both packs simultaneously.
I watched as Natalia fiddled with her fingers, deep in thought. She bit her lower l*p, and all I could think of was the k**s we had before. That made my co.ck hard again, and I quickly turned, facing the balcony door to avoid further embarrassment. I’d had enough for one day.
“We must replace a way to distract the rogues and make them believe we know nothing of their plans. We must send the message that we assume the rogue we captured was alone and that we don’t know anything about their plans and continue our routine as always.”
Natalia’s soft but determined voice interrupted my thoughts. I composed myself and turned back, looking at her. She was right. We had to do something to direct the rogues’ attention elsewhere and, in the meantime, formulate a plan and attack their hideout.
“We need to think fast, though. Time is running out.”
Natalia looked at Lucas and me, and that was when an idea popped into my mind. Without further notice, I picked up my phone and called my father.
“Hello, Dad? What are you doing?”
“Blake? Is something wrong? Jacob told me that you left our pack in a hurry this morning. Where are you?”
“Everything is okay, Dad. I need you to come to the Moon Howlers pack and bring one of our Elders along. Could you do that for me, please? It’s urgent. And before you ask any questions, I’ll tell you when you get here.”
I ended the call and turned to face Lucas and Natalia. They both had a questioning look on their faces.
“Follow me to your father’s room. You too, Lucas.”
I left the office in long strides, not giving anyone the time to ask questions. I wanted to reveal my thoughts to Natalia’s father first. I might be a bull-headed person, but at the moment, the safety of both packs lay in my hands, and I had to act accordingly.
Alpha Ray lay there, his doctor running some tests on him. I entered the room, and soon Natalia and Lucas followed. She looked at me, confusion in her blue eyes, and waited for me to talk.
“Alpha White, there’s something I need to discuss with you all, and I would like you to let me finish first and then ask any questions. With Natalia’s help, we discovered the rogues’ plans. Tomorrow is the lunar eclipse, and they plan to attack our packs simultaneously. We need to make them believe that we know nothing of their plans. The only way we can do it is to set the rogue free but not before spreading the news of the wedding that will take place between Natalia and me today.”
“What?”
The three of them spoke at the same time, but my attention was on Natalia. She looked blank, probably unable to believe what I had just said.
“Since we have decided to move on with the alliance, we will get married one of these days. So, why not do it today and kill two birds with one stone? After dealing with the rogues, we will proceed with the mating part.”
“And how will marrying you today help with our plan?”
There was disbelief and irony in her tone.
“For starters, Miss White, it will be reason enough for us to set the rogue free as a good deed for our marriage. Our wedding celebration will supposedly take place tonight; instead, we will take the rogues by surprise and attack them.”
“You can’t be serious, Blake. Is this your plan to deceive the rogues?”
Natalia’s voice came out like a whisper, and she stared at me, her face pale.
“Do you have a better way, Natalia?”
My voice was cold and strict. I had the final word, and Natalia needed to accept it – the sooner, the better.
“Natalia, sweetheart, Blake is right. You have agreed to the contract, and with the threat of the rogues hanging over our heads, that may be the best way to deal with it.”
I was shocked to hear Natalia’s father support my proposal; I thought he would be the first to object. I kept calm, though, and watched as Natalia looked at her father, surprised by his reaction.
“Dad?”
“Sweetie, when it comes to saving our pack, you realise that as the leaders, we need to make sacrifices, right?”
A fiery glint passed through her eyes.
“Yes, father, you are right. This wedding thing is strictly business, so what’s the difference if we do it today, tomorrow or after a week? Let’s proceed and have the wedding today.”
Natalia looked at me coldly as she said her last words, and I nodded, looking at her with the same expression.
Why was I feeling so annoyed with her attitude and reply, though?
