Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 25

Elisabeth

The day Drake returned angry and rude, there was too much tension between us. We hadn’t talked for days, and Drake stopped helping with the chores.

I was constantly busy. From work to our house, I always had to clean and cook. I developed black circles under my eyes from lack of sleep. My stamina was better than a human female’s, but I felt weak and tired. I was a female wolf, not a superwoman, and my fatigue overtook my other abilities.

I needed to shift to my wolf form and run for I don’t know how long. But I didn’t even have the strength to do that. All I wanted to do was sleep-I was exhausted beyond words.

And Drake was nowhere to be found. When I got home, he was gone and didn’t even leave a note about where he was or whether I should wait for him.

That made things even worse for me. Various thoughts crossed my mind, and I became suspicious of Drake and his behaviour. Was he having an affair with another woman? Did he replace his true mate and want to break up with me? Was that the reason for his weird and aggressive behaviour?

The more I thought about it, the more I concluded that Drake wanted out of our relationship for whatever reason.

We hadn’t slept in the same bed for days. When I left for work, Drake came home, and by the time I returned, he was gone.

I woke up feeling a little under the weather-I had a bitter taste in my mouth, and my stomach felt funny. I took a sip of my coffee, and it tasted disgusting. I rushed to the toilet to vomit.

I thought that something I’d eaten the previous night had affected my stomach and paid no attention to the incident. I got ready for work and left the house. I spent the whole day working at reception, where I could sit when I wasn’t busy.

I didn’t eat anything the whole day. I couldn’t.

When the cook saw me, she offered to make a light soup for me, something to help my stomach feel better, and she finished it by the time I got off work. I forced myself to eat some and left for my room.

All I wanted to do was have a shower and go to bed.

I didn’t even realise I had lost consciousness when I took my clothes off.

I opened my eyes and found myself naked on the floor, warm liquid running between my thighs.

I touched the area and brought my hand to my face-b***d. My fingers were dripping with b***d. I half lifted myself and saw b***d oozing from between my legs.

I tried to get up but felt dizzy and weak.

I lay there in a pool of b***d, praying to the Moon Goddess for Drake to show up-I was too weak to mind-link him and passed out again.

Drake

I had just finished a business meeting with one of the gun dealers Ace had introduced me to when I returned to California. We were running out of ammunition, and I needed to secure the appropriate number of guns and silver bullets for our future attacks, especially the one I had planned for my brother’s pack.

I was tired as hell. The past few days were torture. Since I shouted at Elie and left, banging the door behind me, we hadn’t talked to each other, and I avoided seeing her.

I felt guilty about my behaviour. Elisabeth was not the reason that everything went wrong when I attacked her father’s pack. I wanted to take over the reins, take her back to her pack, and make her my Luna-Elisabeth deserved that. She has been the heiress to the Alpha position since she was the firstborn.

I needed to take over the Moon Howlers pack.

When I first contacted Ace, he informed me of Blake’s power. He even told me Blake kept putting obstacles in Alpha Ray’s way to ensure the pack’s poor economy after Elie and I eloped.

My brother was taking revenge for what I did to him by destroying Elisabeth’s father and his pack.

I was fed up with hiding in Mexico City.

So, what if I eloped with Elie, my brother’s mate? She rejected him before eloping with me that night.

I should be the Alpha of the Moon Howlers pack, and it was about time for Blake to realise it. Knowing he would never accept such a thing, I decided to attack the Dark Moon pack and bring my brother down, taking his place as the Alpha that would teach him a lesson or two. That arrogant son of a bi.tch asked for it.

That’s why I was so angry when Blake took us by surprise and attacked first, dismantling my army of rogues and ruining my plans of attacking his pack the night of the eclipse.

I knew how I’d behaved towards Elie was wrong. She was the sweetest thing ever, my beloved wife and chosen mate. So, I avoided seeing her for a few days until she calmed down-I had to apologise to her for being an a*s.

And today was a good day for me to do that.

I had a feeling of telling me that things would get better, especially when the dealer promised to give me what I needed.

I checked my watch-Elie should be at home by the time I arrived. I would ask her for a date and take her somewhere beautiful for dinner. And I would apologise to her.

On my way home, I stopped by a flower shop and got her a bouquet of lilies, her favourite. No apology was ever made without flowers.

While waiting for the florist to prepare the flowers, my stomach was suddenly tied in knots, and I felt uneasy. My wolf, Gunner, was also whining inside my head, worrying me even more.

“Run, Drake. Something has happened to Elie-I can’t contact her wolf Amy, and I am worried.”

s**t. Did something terrible happen to Ellie?

I picked up the bouquet and threw the money on the counter, rushing out of the store.

I reached the Motel and ran to our room. I put the key in the lock and pushed the door open. The lights were off. I rushed to our room, but Elie was not there.

Shower-she was taking a shower. The lights were on.

I pushed the door open and froze at the sight of my wife lying on the bathroom floor, unconscious and naked in a pool of b***d.

I froze! What the hell happened in there?

“Elie, honey, open your eyes, please. Come on, baby, don’t scare me like that.”

I picked her up, caressed her pale face and checked her pulse, which was weak.

s**t! What was I supposed to do?

“Stop thinking, you moron! Give her fuc.king CPR and then we need to rush her to a hospital,” Gunner shouted at me.

“What hospital, Gunner? Blake owns the city, and he’s probably on my tail after what happened. How am I going to take my Elie to a hospital? What if someone sees my surname and notifies Blake?”

“Call Ace and ask for his help, Drake. We will lose her if we don’t act fast,” Gunner growled. “Amy is not replying to my calls either.”

f**k! Elisabeth’s wolf was out of reach, said my wolf. That meant things were worse than I suspected.

I immediately started giving my unconscious wife CPR.

“Come on, baby, don’t you dare die on me,” I pleaded before returning to mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Elisabeth suddenly inhaled sharply, and I sighed in relief as I watched her chest move up and down.

I carefully placed Elisabeth on the bed and covered her with a sheet.

Picking my phone from my pocket, I called Ace. With a trembling voice, I told him what had happened.

“Keep her warm, Drake. Don’t worry. I will send my men to pick you up and drive you and your wife to a friend’s clinic. He is my trusted friend, and your wife will be in good hands.” Ace’s reassuring tone calmed my raging heart.

I opened the closet and grabbed some clothes and underwear for Elie. I wiped the b***d from her body with a wet towel and dressed her carefully, trying not to move her much.

Thank Goddess, Elie will get medical care soon. I sat on the bed next to her and waited.

A knock on the door had me rushing to open it. Ace’s men were outside.

“Mr Hunter, Alpha Ace sent us. Please bring your wife and follow us-the clinic is not very far. We will get you there quickly.”

I nodded and went back to the room. I picked up my wife and left the room, following Ace’s men.

We drove to the clinic in complete silence. I held my wife in my arms, cursing myself for being an arrogant a*s, avoiding her for days and leaving her to deal with the cleaning all by herself.

Maybe Elie had a difficult period because of her fatigue. Yeah, that was probably the reason for her bleeding.

“Stop making assumptions, Drake. Let’s wait for the doctor to check our mate,” Gunner cut me off, and I knew he was right.

We soon arrived at the clinic. The doctor was waiting for us at the entrance with two nurses and a stretcher. They helped me get out of the car and put my wife on the stretcher, rushing her to the ER for examination.

I was out in the corridor, walking up and down anxiously. I had no one to talk to or to share my fears, which hurt like hell. Ace said he could not be seen with me in public so as not to raise any suspicions if anyone recognised me.

What happened to my wife?

I watched as another doctor rushed to where my wife was. What was happening?

A nurse hurriedly came out of the room, and I stopped her and tried to replace out what was happening.

“Sir, your wife has lost a lot of b***d and needs a b***d transfusion. Please let me go to the b***d bank; the doctor will give you more details after we finish the transfusion. I have to hurry now.”

My knees went weak, and I sank to the floor, my back against the wall. I was to blame for whatever had happened to Elisabeth.

I lost track of time. I didn’t know how much time had passed, but when the doctor came out of the examination room, I stood up and rushed to him. He was the one who had met us when we arrived- He was Ace’s friend.

I touched his sleeve with my fingers and held tight to his professional coat.

“Doctor, what is wrong with my wife? Why all the bleeding? Is she on a heavy period? Has she regained consciousness?”

The doctor looked at me through his glasses, smiled at my questions and patted my shoulder reassuringly.

“We ran extra tests on your wife after the transfusion. Everything else looks fine, although I have to say that she has probably exhausted herself, which caused the heavy bleeding.

Your wife needs to stay in bed and have someone to care for her for the next two months. The first trimester is full of risks in pregnancies like hers, and she was lucky she didn’t lose the baby this time.”

The what? What pregnancy? Was Elisabeth pregnant with a pup? And she almost lost it today?

“Wait, Dr, what? What pregnancy? Is Elie pregnant?”

The surprised look in my eyes made the Doctor smile wider.

“Now, that’s what I call a dumbfounded father to be,” he joked. “Mr Hunter, your wife is six weeks pregnant, and she was fortunate she didn’t lose the baby after such heavy bleeding. Your baby is a stubborn fighter, that I must say.”

My heart fluttered in my chest at the sound of the word baby. My baby. Mine and Elisabeth’s baby.

I hadn’t been upset about anything in a very long time and had forgotten when I last cried about anything.

I was surprised to feel wetness in my cheeks. I touched my face with my fingers and, touching my eyes, realised that it was wet with tears.

I was crying!

A new life was on its way; that little thing was mine and Elisabeth’s alone.

“Amy’s and mine too,” Gunner growled, and I couldn’t agree with my wolf more.
