Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 26
The Dark Moon pack, California
Natalia
It had been a long day. After the meeting with the two Alphas, the Texan and Ace, Blake’s father asked me to follow him to his office. He wanted to introduce me to my Luna duties-Blake had no idea what I was supposed to do. That was what uncle Elias told me with a smile.
“My sweet Anna was the best Luna ever- your mother as well, my princess,” he said smiling.
“Uncle…”
“Don’t you think it’s about time you stopped calling me that, princess? I am your father-in-law now, and I would love to hear you call me Dad or Father at least.” His broad grin gave him a boyish look as he spoke.
I blushed and smiled back, nodding at him-it felt uncomfortable, but he was right. I should call him that.
“Father,” I replied in a low voice, and he chuckled.
“That’s my girl,” he praised me. “Now, let’s get to work, shall we?”
He had me sit next to him and, for the next few hours, explained how to take care of things like organising events in the pack, organising how things worked in the pack, and how the staff worked.
“You know, Natalia, Anna took much of the burden off my shoulders back then. She even took care of the pack hospital, organising everything, so we lacked nothing in any emergency. We even had a baby incubator before Blake was born,” he said, proud of Blake’s mother’s achievements, and I felt like crying. His son’s and my relationship was far from what he had experienced with Blake’s mother.
“Muster up your courage, my girl. I need you to be strong if we are going to survive all this without being hurt,” Leia’s voice startled me.
“Leia, where have you been all day? I couldn’t feel you after Blake and I left the room this morning. I need to tell you about Ace Jones….”
“No worries, Nat. I saw his reaction, and I agree with you. He is up to something, and we need to talk about it later,” Leia interrupted.
Having my wolf back made me feel better and safer. Leia was my safety net-I knew I could count on her no matter what.
“You will also have to check the pack’s finances, princess. It takes Blake a lot of time to deal with these things, and he has his hands full with the rest of the pack’s matters on top of all the alliance contracts he prepares with his attorneys.”
“I could do that if Blake allows it-it’s my job.”
s**t! Did I say that out loud?
“You sure did, girl,” Leia giggled. “The lawyer spirit in you cannot avoid the work that applies to her,” Leia teased.
“I would love to use your professional help, Nat,” Blake’s hoarse voice surprised me.
I looked up, and there he was, standing at the entrance. He had his back against the wall, hands resting in his pockets. He had rolled up his sleeves, and his muscled arms teased and provoked me. My eyes devoured his sexy figure, and I gulped, trying not to show how much his presence affected me.
“Huh?” That was a silly response, but it escaped my lips before I managed to control my reaction.
“I said, I would love to use your professional help, Nat. All these contracts need extra attention, but not only that, but I also own a construction company. We recently decided to delve into the renovation sector; we remodelled old buildings with the help of a design firm, keeping the original structure and adding a modern touch to the property.
Blake’s tone left no room for argument. I had forgotten my anger and a plan formed in my head. Blake had just asked for my help as a lawyer. I would get the chance to make my dear husband swallow his previous insults-he would soon replace out who Natalia White, the corporate advocate was.
“Oh, okay. See when it fits your schedule, and let’s meet and discuss these things. I will do my best,” I replied since my father-in-law was present.
“Let’s go and have lunch. You can do that later and in the next few days. Don’t forget that we have the barbeque tonight, and you will meet the pack members. You should rest after lunch; you haven’t slept well since arriving.”
With that, he came over to me and, taking my hand, pulled me up from the chair and led me to the dining room.
Surprised by his last words that hinted at concern, I followed in his tracks, not missing the mischievous smile on Alpha Elias’s face who was following us to the dining room.
The dining room was empty once again-it was just Blake, his father and me. We had lunch and kept the conversation light and only about things regarding the pack. Still, I couldn’t help but notice the looks of curiosity the servers gave me while attending to us. They were both older women in their sixties, probably Omegas.
They sensed my attention; they blushed and lowered their heads. I stared back and smiled. That made them smile and relax, moving around more naturally in the dining room. I noticed Blake’s gaze on me and a half-smile on his face, which disappeared instantly.
I was indeed tired, and my entire body was sore. I entered the room we had slept in the previous night, not waiting for Blake. I lay on the bed and closed my eyes, drifting to sleep without delay.
Blake
I watched Natalia fall asleep with mixed feelings. She had proven insightful and made me realise that I had missed something important regarding the rogue attacks. Someone had probably been helping them gather information and plan their moves against us.
Natalia had grown into a fine and sharp-minded woman. Her wisdom was deep, and I could guess how capable she was as a lawyer. She could quickly come to an assumption by noticing a minor detail that had escaped everyone else.
I lay on the bed facing her. She must have been drained to fall asleep in the blink of an eye. I watched as her rich and long dark eyelashes touched her rosy cheeks and her plump lips were slightly open, inviting me to k**s the sleeping beauty on the bed. I got hard at the thought of kissing her.
“In case you haven’t noticed, she is our sleeping beauty, Blake. I like her, you know. She is nothing like the Natalia I remember from ten years ago. And her wolf, that sassy female, will drive me crazy. I can’t wait to have a night of passion with her. So, hurry up and mend things with Natalia. I need to have my turn of wild pleasure with her white wolf. I bet it will be unforgettable for both of us.”
“Stop nagging me, Aries. I have enough on my plate as it is. I messed things up big time. How stupid of me to seek revenge on Natalia by threatening her father to allow this marriage.
I never thought I would feel so attracted to her- she is a ticking time bomb. Too dangerous for me to ignore and hard to take revenge by hurting her. I feel awful when I see tears in her eyes, Aries-tears that I am responsible for even though we are not mates. I must tell you that I secretly hoped we were.”
“Well, stop being a jerk and act accordingly then, Blake,” Aries replied, annoyed.
Holy s**t! I had forgotten that her wolf, Leia, could hear us. However, no reply came from the white wolf, so I prayed she was asleep like Natalia was and hopefully, missed my confession to Aries.
Aries was right, though. If I wanted to make Natalia change her mind about me, I had to try and behave better.
And with the Moon Goddess’s blessings, Natalia would forgive me. All I could hope for was that the Goddess would not punish my stupid initial behaviour towards my wife by bringing my second chance mate around after marrying Nat. I wanted to make things work between us.
The moment I laid my eyes on her, I knew my plans for using her as a scapegoat to get my revenge went down the drain.
Natalia was a fighter-and so was her wolf. It was the first time I witnessed Aries take orders from anyone, especially a she-wolf. Natalia’s wolf was impressive, aggressive like her human, and gifted-she was extremely gifted by our Moon Goddess, Aria.
Distracted by my thoughts, I didn’t realise that Natalia had woken up. She watched me silently; a genuine smile appeared on my face, and my wife blushed. She was so cute, and I couldn’t control my reaction- I leaned forward and kissed her forehead softly.
Natalia’s eyes grew wide with surprise.
Boy, that was awkward. I shouldn’t have done that. What’s done is done; I should just let it pass.
“Did you sleep well? Are you feeling any better?” I acted as if nothing had happened-I didn’t want her to know how affected I was kissing her like that.
Natalia stared for a while and didn’t reply.
” Mm, yeah. I needed to sleep. What time is it?” She said indifferently.
God! Now she was acting as if nothing had happened. I guess that’s what I wanted, right?
“It’s past six. You slept for three hours.”
And I sat here watching you sleep.
Aries stirred inside my head, nodding his head in agreement. My poor wolf was afraid to express his opinion! That was a day to remember!
“Stop fooling around, you jerk. Or so help me, Goddess; I will make you sorry for messing with me,” Aries replied aggressively and blocked me.
“I’ll leave you to get ready and get cleaned up in my room. I will pick you up in an hour. Wear something simple. It will only be the pack members and us.”
Oh, by the way, the decor team will arrive tomorrow-they will change our bedroom the way you want it, so make sure to tell them what you like. They said they would have it ready a day or two after we tell them what we need.” I squeezed her hand and left the room without waiting for a reply.
In my room, I called my company subordinates in Sacramento and asked them to send the best renovation team the following morning. They needed to bring everything required to start work.
After an hour, I went back to look for Natalia and found her standing in front of the mirror. She wore a flowery yellow strappy dress that flattered her slim waist and full brea.sts. She had flat sandals on her feet, her lengthy hair was in a messy bun, and with light makeup on, she was breath-breaking.
“You are beautiful,” I praised her, and she looked at me, confused.
“Are you complimenting me,” she asked in disbelief, and I smirked. It would take more to convince my stubborn wife that I meant well.
“What does it sound like?’ I teased, not leaving her any time to reply. Taking her hand and entangling our fingers, I led us out of the packhouse.
My Beta and Gamma made all the barbeque arrangements and gathered everyone in the backyard.
My father was waiting for us with the pack elders, who wanted to welcome Natalia to our pack.
“Don’t let go of my hand, Nat. Stay close to me tonight, okay?”
“We need to go through this together,”
I whispered in her ear, my lips brushing her fair skin, leaving a soft k**s on her neck.
She stopped in her tracks and locked eyes with me. I didn’t know what she saw in mine, but whatever it was, it made her smile and nodding her head in approval, she followed me to where my father was.
I watched my wife interact with the elders, taking them by surprise with her clever answers and the noble way she behaved. She was interrupted by some pups that had run away from their parents, curious to meet their Luna.
It was impressive how Natalia excused herself and gave those pups full attention, caressing their heads, lifting the younger one who offered her a bouquet, and kissing his forehead.
My eyes were on the pup’s parents, who nodded in approval when they saw how Nat reacted to their baby’s approach.
That was the first step for my wife. We spent the whole night interrupted by pack members who wanted to meet Natalia and talk to her. She was courteous enough to replace time for each of them-the surprising thing was that she remembered everyone’s names. It was amazing and made people appreciate my wife- I could sense it, and it reflected on their faces.
Even Timothy, my jerk friend, apologised to Natalia for the stunt he pulled in the early morning hours with Emma. Natalia graciously nodded her head, but the look of disapproval she gave Tim made him lower his head in embarrassment-that would teach that a*s a lesson or two.
A particular person stood back, watching from afar. And I didn’t like the look on that person’s face- Emma was looking at Natalia with a gaze full of hatred, which infuriated me.
“Don’t you dare look at your Luna like that, Emma, or so help me; I will not spare you,” I growled, mind-linking her. She bent her head in fear and submission to my Alpha tone and left the backyard.
Something was off with the young doctor’s behaviour. I had never promised her anything, though.
I didn’t want my negative thoughts to affect my spirits and pushed Emma’s reaction to the back of my mind. I would deal with her at a later stage. For the moment, I enjoyed watching Natalia act so naturally around my people. She would make an excellent Luna; I thought, and smiled.
I saw my father looking at my wife proudly from the corner of my eye. He then turned to look at me with a mischievous smile, and I knew that he caught me red-handed admiring Natalia.
It was the first time I felt embarrassed in front of my father after many years.
