Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 39
The Dark Moon pack, California

“The only thing worse than a liar is a liar that’s also a hypocrite!”
(Tennessee Williams)
The collapse of the building had me running to replace a solution. We struggled to rescue the four people from the rubble.
The army sent some trained men, but I already had my secret squad of effective werewolf warriors that could lift the heavy cement blocks.
When the human soldiers were resting, we worked in our own way. After the bulldozers cleared the outside area, the only place left to clear was the old building. Using bulldozers was risky since we didn’t know where our employees were when the construction collapsed.
My primary consideration was to keep their families posted and provide them with whatever they needed. I had a group of therapists trying to help them get through those hard hours.
My partner, Massimo Azzarello, rushed to the United States the day the calamity happened.
He couldn’t offer more than I, but having my associate around was a consolation.
Massimo remained at the site and I worked feverishly on replaceing the culprits behind it. They were immoral creatures who assumed they could deceive me and jeopardise my men’s safety.
How I wished Natalia were there with me. My bride would deal with the situation decisively. She was a badass advocate who feared no one.
I spotted where the crooks hid to dodge my fury and paid them a visit. There were five of them, and I was alone.
They assumed they could take me down. I didn’t even shift to my wolf form and shortly thereafter had them on their knees, pleading for their lives. I couldn’t kill them; the police were after them.
I made them sign documents for compensation, then stripped them of their money and notified the police. I didn’t want to get my hands dirty with their tainted b***d.
Massimo called me and said that they had rescued our people from the ruins. Their injuries were severe, but they were still alive and not losing any time. I rushed to the hospital where the paramedics had taken them.
Massimo was there, and we waited until midnight to ensure our employees had the best care and had escaped danger.
It was then that we realised we hadn’t slept for three days. Werewolves or not, exhaustion overwhelmed us and I took Massimo with me to the Dark Moon pack. We needed to rest and recharge our batteries. We had many things to do after locating our men.
There was paperwork to fill in, statements to give, and another trip to the hospital to check on the injured and their families. Our company worked under civil law and we were obliged to follow every rule and regulation of the US government.
I instructed Lucas and Jacob to monitor the patients’ development for as long as the police procedures took against those scumbags, knowing that my Beta and Gamma were more than capable of doing what I told them.
I woke up the following day and realised I had slept for twelve hours. Thinking that Massimo had woken up and was waiting for me, I left my room in a hurry. I found Massimo at the top of the stairs and smiled. He was as tired as I was.
We had our breakfast in silence and then headed to my office; we had a lot to talk about.
“So, Blake, when do I get to meet your mate? You told me you got married and mated with her a few months ago.”
Massimo’s question was like a knife twisting in my heart, causing me to bleed profusely.
“She had to travel abroad. Natalia wanted to be there for her friend who had some problems. She travelled to Italy a day before you came,” I added, making Massimo smile.
“I guess I will meet her another time,” he said and changed the subject.
His question made me think of my wife and how she had left for Italy.
Now that we settled the problem with the collapsed building, I had to deal with Emma. My mind was clear of other thoughts and losing my wife made Aries aggressive. My wolf was determined to replace out the truth. I growled with irritation and banged my fist on my desk.
Massimo noticed my weird behaviour and stopped talking.
“Blake, is everything okay? You seem distracted,” he asked.
“Sorry, Massimo.”
“I was thinking about something that happened a few days ago and got pissed off all over again,” I g*****d and my fingers travelled to my unshaven chin.
“Is there anything I can do to help you?”
I smiled at Massimo’s question.
“Not even the Moon Goddess can help me with that, my friend. I fu.cked up big time with my wife before she left for Italy. And now I am worried that she may never come back,” I admitted, not knowing why I opened up to Massimo.
“We could call this week ‘partners in deep sh.it week’,” Massimo joked and ran his fingers through his hair, a sad smile on his face.
“What do you mean, Massimo?’
“I fuc.ked up as well. Forget about me, though. Care to share what happened?” Massimo proposed.
I told my partner the entire story about Emma and Natalia.
“You are indeed in deep shi.t man,” Massimo said and then continued. “How are you certain the baby is yours? You couldn’t scent it on Emma. And what makes you think she is not lying? She may not be pregnant at all,” Massimo insinuated, making me feel like a total jerk.
How could I not think that Emma was lying?
“I don’t know, Massimo. Everything went down the drain after Aries reacted spontaneously to Luca’s question.” I frowned, irritated.
“I tried to explain when Natalia confronted me but she left me standing at the departure gate. And then the building collapsed,” I added.
“Have you talked to your mate since then?” Massimo inquired.
“No, Massimo. With everything going on here, I didn’t have the opportunity. I have to clear things up with Emma first. Natalia won’t take any more bull.shit from me,” I exhaled, stressed and Massimo smiled at my reaction.
“You must have one he.ll of a mate, Blake. I envy you, man,” Massimo replied, and he seemed sincere.
“You need to expose Emma. Whether she’s lying or telling the truth, you need to act fast and get your wife back, Blake,” was my partner’s advice and that made me feel even worse.
“I need to expose her without making my intentions obvious,” I thought out loud and Massimo agreed with me.
“Have you got anything in mind?” Massimo said.
“Call Dylan, Blake. You can ask for his grandmother’s help. Luna Alison will see through Emma and tell us if she is pregnant or not,” Aries chipped in and a big smile appeared on my face.
How could I forget Dylan’s grandmother, the great Luna Alison? She was our Moon Goddess’ only child and had unique healing and other abilities. I picked up the phone and called Dylan.
“Hey Blake, how are you, my friend? I haven’t heard from you since your wedding,” Dylan greeted.
“Hey, Dylan. Not so well, man. Something came up and I need your help. Specifically, your grandmother’s help,” I replied.
“Blake, what happened?” Dylan’s worried voice made me smile.
He was my best friend, the one I could count on. We were roommates at university and became best friends during our studies.
I briefly explained the situation and after Dylan swore at me for being a jerk to my wife, he put me on hold. He would ask his grandmother if she could help and inform me. I didn’t wait long.
“Blake, we will be there in about two hours. All you need to do is get my grandmother in touch with that doctor of yours,” Dylan said, and his reply excited me.
After listening to my conversation with Dylan, Massimo waited for me to tell him what had happened.
“Are you aware of the Northwood family in the US?” I asked and my partner smiled.
“Is there any werewolf pack in the world that doesn’t know the Northwoods? They became legendary after taking down the Hunters and rogues. Ariana’s mate, Alan Hayes, was the one who found the way to protect our kind from silver and wolfsbane.” Massimo was excited to mention the Northwood family.
“Well, Dylan is Ariana and Alan Hayes’ son, Massimo.”
“And Luna Alison is his grandmother and the only child of our Moon Goddess, Aria. We will solve the mystery with Emma after she arrives.”
I felt relieved that we would solve the situation soon. If Emma was pregnant with my child, Natalia would never come back to me. I had to take my chances and replace out the truth, no matter what.
“Dylan asked me to replace a way for his grandmother to meet Emma,” I told Massimo and then a thought popped into my mind. “It has to be an unofficial meeting between them. What if Luna Alison pretends she isn’t feeling well and I ask Timothy to send Emma to the packhouse to check up on her?” I expressed my idea out loud and Massimo agreed.
It was an excellent excuse to bring Emma together with Dylan’s grandmother, without her suspecting anything.
We spent the rest of the time talking about business and handling the paperwork needed to claim compensation for the accident.
Lucas interrupted us to inform us that Dylan and his grandmother had arrived.
Massimo and I left my office and headed to the living room where my ginger-headed friend and his graceful grandmother waited for me. I could see Massimo’s surprised face when he looked at the stunning beauty in front of him.
Violet-eyed Luna Alison was still beautiful with her slightly long grey hair and a figure most young female wolves would envy.
“Blake, my child, it’s so nice to see you,” Luna Alison said smiling and turned to Massimo.
“And he is?”
“This is my associate, Massimo Azzarello, Luna. I am honoured to have you here,” I responded and she patted my back in a motherly way.
“An Italian Alpha,” she exclaimed and startled Massimo. “I can read minds, handsome. And mind-link with all werewolves,” she clarified and grinned at Massimo’s bewildered face.
“Have you figured out a way for me to see the doctor?” Luna Alison mind-linked me and I replied, informing her of my idea.
“Dylan, I feel dizzy suddenly and my legs are shaky. Please help me sit down my child,” she asked Dylan and he dashed to her side worried, but sighed in relief when he detected the playfulness in his grandmother’s eyes.
That was quick, I thought and smirked.
“I can hear you,” Luna Alison mind-linked me again, and I blushed like a teenager.
“Timothy, send Emma to the packhouse. A female guest of mine is dizzy and I need Emma to check her out” I mind-linked my friend.
“Do you need me to come, Blake?” Timothy proposed but I stopped him.
“No need, Tim, Emma will do. My guest prefers a female doctor to check her out.”
Massimo and I took a seat opposite Luna Alison who had been lying on the sofa, holding her head and Dylan stood beside his grandmother.
Soon, Emma appeared with her medical bag.
“Alpha, you called for me?”
She had her face down, not looking at me.
“Yes, Emma. Please check on Luna Alison. She felt a sudden weakness,” I instructed and Emma took her stethoscope.
While checking Luna Alison’s vitals, the latter held Emma’s hand.
“Thank you for taking care of me, my dear. I can heal others’ wounds, but not mine,” Luna Alison whispered tiredly and then mind-linked me,
“She is not pregnant, Blake.”
Anger rose inside me and I felt the need to attack Emma, but I knew I had to play along to expose the bit.ch’s lies.
Emma looked at Dylan’s grandmother, surprised and stopped examining her for a moment.
“Luna Alison, Emma is pregnant and she’s had some problems. She was bleeding and had to take medication,” I stepped in. “Do you think you can help her after you feel better?”
Emma paled and her hands started shaking. Lowering her head, she refused.
“No need, Alpha. My condition is stable now,” Emma replied looking down and biting her lips.
“Are you sure you are pregnant, my dear? I can’t feel the pup’s heartbeat, and your pulse is normal.”
Luna Alison frowned and Emma lost it.
“What…”
“Oh, didn’t I tell you? I can guess what’s happening to another werewolf’s body, by touching a part of his body, and you surely are not pregnant, my dear” Luna said innocently, blinking her beautiful eyes.
I growled and Aries came forward. My fangs appeared, ready to tear Emma into pieces.
“You lied to us,” Aries growled menacingly, and I stepped forward ready to attack.
Emma trembled like a leaf and dropped to her knees, begging for her life.
“Blake, I am sorry. I love you so much and couldn’t stand seeing you with Natalia. All I wanted was for you to be mine,’ she whimpered and I growled louder.
“Blake, don’t kill her. I read her mind and someone is using her to extort information about you and Natalia. Do you know anyone named Ace?” Luna Alison mind-linked me.
“Ace?
Information?
What the fu.ck?”
“You can use her and see what that guy wants from you, son. His intentions are not good, and I can tell I know how angry you are, but anger was of no benefit to anyone who acted impulsively. Trust me, Blake.”
Luna Alison’s sweet voice inside my mind made Aries and me think twice.
“Get out of my sight Emma, or I can’t promise you will stay alive for long. Don’t show your face to me ever again.”
Aries’s growl was so loud that Emma pissed her pants and lowering her head in fear and submission, left the packhouse on wobbly legs.
“What does that fu.cker want from me and how did he contact Emma?” I snarled and Dylan, Massimo and Luna Alison waited for an explanation from me.
I briefly explained who Ace Jones was, and Luna Alison smiled.
“That reminds me of another greedy person who was punished years ago,” she said and then changed the subject. “Where is your mate, Blake?”
“She left for Italy a few days ago, the same day Emma lied to me.”
“And you are still here, my boy? You should go after your wife, Blake. You must resolve the misunderstanding between you as soon as possible,” Dylan’s grandmother urged me.
“I planned to do it and ask Dylan for your family’s private jet, Luna, but a building collapsed and I had to get those who got buried under the ruins back to safety,” I explained.
“Go now, my boy. Don’t waste more time,” she replied.
“If you are thinking about the procedures we need to follow regarding the accident, I can stay in the United States and have your Beta help me with it, Blake,” Massimo proposed, smiling at me.
“Thank you, Massimo,” I replied and turned to Dylan.
“How soon can you have your jet ready for me, Dylan?”
