Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 55

Blake

“We need to form a plan to fool Teresa and Ace,” my wife said and both Drake and I looked at her, knowing that she had already thought of something.

“But first, I have something else to do. I will leave you two alone for an hour or two. Try not to kill each other,” she said and left the apartment.

An awkward silence filled the room as soon as Natalia departed. I stood by the window, looking out, trying to ignore Drake. I still felt confused by Natalia’s words.

“Don’t let Natalia affect your feelings for that crazy bastard, Blake. He is the reason for our misfortune so many years ago. How could he change that easily?” Aries growled inside my mind, urging me to let him take over and attack my brother.

“The hell I do, Aries. The only thing stopping me from killing him is that we need him to get to Ace and Teresa. That doesn’t mean we cannot scare the s**t out of him,” I replied to my wolf who growled in satisfaction.

I turned to my brother hatred in my eyes. Drake was still sitting in the same position as before, his body shaking. I growled loudly, startling him. He looked up, confused. He had been in deep thought and had probably forgotten about my presence.

At the speed of lighting, I had him pinned to the wall, my fingers squeezing his neck, suffocating him and my fangs scraping the skin at the base of his neck. Drake, who wasn’t expecting my attack froze and forgot to react. I shifted mid-way, giving Aries the pleasure of having my brother at his mercy.

“Remember, we need him alive, Aries,” was all I told my wolf before shifting and Aries snarled with dissatisfaction.

“Don’t think that because Natalia asked Blake to help you and your wife that we will forgive you, and let you off the hook, mutt. You harmed us in more ways than one and still intended to harm us. If it wasn’t for your wife’s threat, you would be still planning to take us down and claim the Alpha position and our pack,” Aries growled. “If it were up to me, I would kill you on the spot,” Aries continued, challenging my brother.

Drake kept quiet, listening to me, his eyes wide open. He listened to my ranting, reminding me of the old times when I lectured him about being rebellious and a troublemaker. What the hell was he trying to prove?

“I am talking to you, mutt,” I snarled and squeezed his neck, taking control knowing that if I let Aries he would definitely kill Drake.

“If Teresa and Ace succeed in harming Elisabeth and my baby, I will die myself, Blake. That would put you at ease, won’t it?” Drake replied, his voice choked from the lack of air in his lungs.

“What is this? Are you acting sad to make me feel sorry for you?” I counter-attacked but deep down a searing pain made my chest clench and tighten my stomach in knots. I kept a straight face, hiding the pain I felt.

“What do you want to hear, Blake? That I am sorry for what I did to you? I am sorry, okay? Is that good enough for you?” Drake growled back.

Natalia’s smiling face came to mind and in an abrupt move, I freed him from my hold, not trusting myself for what I would do to him. Drake fell to the ground like a puppet and I stood over him, my hands balled into fists, trying to control my rage.

“I know I was wrong, Blake. Believe it or not, though, I fell in love with Elisabeth in the process of my plan to steal her from you. And I still love her. She is my entire world, Blake. Elisabeth and my baby are my only family in this life.” Drake’s voice broke and he started crying. He cried like a baby, and I watched his breakdown not knowing how to reply to him.

“Have you ever wondered why I felt that way towards you? You were always everyone’s favourite, especially our father, Blake. You are the son of his beloved mate, and I was just the child from a one-night stand with one of his pack members,” Drake whispered between sobs.

“What the hell are you talking about, Drake? Our father loved you the same way he loved me. He never showed his preference for me. The only difference between you and me was that I was the successor to the Alpha title and you were not. Doesn’t that happen to all families, though? Isn’t it always the firstborn who has the right to the Alpha title? What’s so different about you and me, mutt?” I barked angrily punching the wall behind my brother and breaking it, and a large hole appeared where the cement was.

“Wasn’t I always by your side? When did I ever leave you alone to face any of the mistreatments that might occur back then? For crying out loud, Drake, I was only four when you were born. Four,” I screamed my head off.

“And I was always worried about you, Drake. I had become your parent instead of our father. Have you ever stopped to think about how I felt about being responsible for you, Drake? Our father was so busy with his Alpha duties and counted on me. He trusted me, a four-year-old, to care for you and check up on the nannies he had hired to look after both of us.”

I stopped to catch my breath and continued, my eyes flaming with rage, not waiting for a reply.

“Do you know why that was? Because from the day you were born, I was always there for you and when you were old enough to understand, you always cried when I left your side. And I vowed I would never allow anyone, including myself, to make you cry, Drake. That’s why I was so overprotective of you. And what did you do to repay me? You eloped with my mate and tried to take me down with the rogues and Ace’s help,” I snarled at my brother punching the wall once more to avoid kicking his a*s.

Drake who had paled listening to me tried to talk to me. “Blake, I…”

I cut him off.

“I don’t want to listen to your pathetic excuses, Drake. You are a stranger to me now. I am only helping you because Natalia’s friend is also in danger. If we succeed in taking Teresa and Ace down, I will let you and your wife off the hook, for Natalia’s sake. But stay away from me and my woman. Is that clear?” I stressed and walked away from him.

Drake got up from the ground and took a seat on the sofa, eyes on the floor. That was when Natalia entered the apartment.

“Good to see you are both alive,” she said, her eyes glowing. “I brought us coffee. Let’s talk about our plan.” She took a seat on the sofa and I followed. I sat next to her and hid my face in the nape of her neck inhaling her scent and calming my raging heart.

I watched my brother hold his head in despair and something broke inside me. I hated Drake for what he did to be back then. Why did my heart ache at the sight of him helpless and afraid?

“Because he’s your brother, your flesh and b***d, Blake. That’s why. No matter what Drake did, you’re still his older brother and knowing your character after all this time, knowing he might be in trouble, you still feel protective of him,” Natalia mind-linked me, reading my thoughts once more.

Did I really just feel sorry for Drake? He was a stranger to me after so many years, a stranger that was always trying to do me harm. Rage instantly overwhelmed me forgetting that Natalia was sitting next to me. I growled menacingly and tried to get up but Natalia held me back.

“Blake, is everything okay?” she mind-liked me.

I replied, “now that you are here, yes, sweetheart.”

Natalia held my hand and took a long breath. I knew she was ready to say something I wouldn’t like to hear but under the circumstances, she could not avoid upsetting me.

“The only way for our plan to succeed is to include Elisabeth,” she said in a firm tone.

“No way,” Drake growled. He left his seat and ran his fingers through his messy hair.

“We have no choice, Drake. I know what you are afraid of, but my sister is stronger than you think. She is an Alpha’s daughter after all.”

“Natalia, Elisabeth is having our baby in a few days. What if something happens to her?” Drake opposed my wife and Natalia smiled.

“There is nothing you can do about it, Drake. Elisabeth has already agreed to be part of our team.”

“What?’ Both Drake and I reacted to Natalia’s statement.

“When I left the apartment I went to visit Elisabeth at the motel, Blake. And I met Teresa at the reception. She doesn’t know who I visited since she was busy with work. Elisabeth asked the owner Tia, to keep my visit a secret from everyone with the excuse that our husbands had quarrelled and didn’t want us to get together. Tia believed my sister’s story and left us alone for a while,” my wife confessed and I shuddered at the thought of her entering the wolf’s den all by herself.

It was my turn to leave my seat. “What the hell did you do, Natalia?” I barked at my wife.

“What if Ace was around? What if something bad happened to you and the baby?” I yelled but my wife cut me off with a stare full of determination.

“Because if I let you two try to figure out a way to put our plan into action, we would fail for sure. You’re still holding grudges against each other, Blake. And that will set us back. My sister and I have rational minds and we agreed on how to proceed in no time. So, please let me explain our thoughts and then you two, along with Massimo, who is on his way here, can put our plan into action,” my wife asked me, reaching out for my hand, her eyes begging me to listen to her.

An unsettling feeling had me locking eyes with my wife. What did she mean? And why did I think that what I was about to hear would set my heart on fire?

“Go on,” I replied. “Don’t think that I will agree to anything stupid, Natalia,” I warned her.

“We need to reveal everyone’s intentions Blake,” Natalia answered calmly and that concerned me even more. What did she have in mind?

“What I am about to say might sound crazy, but I need you both to stay calm, not interrupt, and listen to the end,” my wife set her gaze on me and Drake, her eyes sparkling with golden flecks. Leia was getting ready to take control in case I cornered Natalia. I knew that look in my wife’s eyes well.

“We have Ace, Emma and Teresa, Blake. And we need to take them all down methodically. So, the best thing for us to do is reveal Emma first. So, my suggestion is that when we get back home today, we should fake a quarrel between you and me. Isn’t Massimo arriving this afternoon?”

Natalia’s words confused me. I mechanically replied with a yes to her question. A quarrel? What use would a fake quarrel between us be?

Natalia’s eyes were on me the whole time, watching my reaction, and reading my thoughts. That was scary in times like those.

“You’d better get used to it, baby,” Natalia mind-linked at me, keeping a straight face.

“We should fake having a quarrel and I will take my things and leave the pack. I will stay at the same motel as Elisabeth and Drake. That will give me access to Teresa. Blake, that way I can replace out more about her and Ace’s plans. Because I am sure Emma will inform Ace that I left the pack. That would make him rush his plans, knowing that my absence would destroy you.” Natalia had a cunning smile on her face while she explained her plan.

“Don’t even think about it, Nat. There’s no way I am letting you go there. What if something goes wrong? What if Ace gets to you before I stop him?” I snapped at my wife and she held my hand tighter, squeezing it.

“Baby, Drake will watch out for Teresa and Ace. He will pretend he knows nothing about their plans, but in the meantime he will give you full details of Teresa’s movements. And you, Massimo and Lucas, can form a plan to take Ace by surprise,” she tried to explain.

“Don’t you dare patronise Natalia’s efforts, Blake, do you hear? You know damn well what I am capable of. There is no way I would let Ace harm Natalia or our pup,” Leia mind-linked me through Aries.

“I don’t want Drake to replace out about my powers, Blake. Just go along with this plan. Let’s deal with those bastards once and for all,” Leia continued. “Aries trusts my abilities. Why can’t you trust Natalia?”

“Aries?” I asked my wolf, waiting for his negative reaction, but he surprised me. “We should follow Leia and Natalia’s plan, Blake. They can handle it. Don’t you remember how Leia helped us with the attack on the cliff?”

“Does that mean we have to jeopardise their safety, Aries?” I insisted and gained another growl from Leia.

“Blake, for heaven’s sake, be reasonable. It’s the easiest way to get them and protect Elisabeth and her baby. And I promise you, I won’t allow anything to happen to Natalia and our pup,” Leia insisted.

“Before we do anything, I should get in touch with Dylan and Luna Alison. They can provide us with the antidote to wolfsbane and silver, Leia. That will keep you safe from Ace until I get to you if anything goes wrong.” I finally agreed to my wife’s request and Leia purred in pleasure.

“Let’s get this over and done with, and I will show who the boss is, Nat. That’s the last time you take such a risk without consulting me first,” I mind-linked my wife in annoyance and her eyes sparkled again in amusement.

“Is that a promise?” She cockily replied, and I couldn’t take the provocation lightly.

“Just wait and see, my little one. Just wait and see,” my voice was full of promises and Leia purred.

Natalia burst into laughter and Drake stared at me, trying to figure out what was so funny to make my wife laugh so hard.

“What are you looking at, mutt?” I barked and he immediately paled and turned his face away, avoiding my gaze.

“Good. He should know his place,” Aries purred in pleasure, watching the fear in my brother’s eyes.
