Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 67
The Dinners Inn motel, California
Drake
I entered the motel and Teresa was the first person to greet me.
“What happened with Elisabeth and the baby?” she asked immediately.
“The doctor kept her in the hospital for observation. The baby is in a hurry to come out, I guess. I just came back to take a shower and rest for a while. The doctor asked me to leave Ellie to rest.”
I gave her a tired smile. I felt physically and emotionally drained. Leaving my wife behind and facing my hostile father out of the blue was not something I expected to deal with.
“Oh, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know,” she gave me a fake smile and I nodded.
“What happened to your face?” she asked, blinking in surprise at the bruise on my jaw.
“I fought with another patient’s husband back at the clinic. He tried to steal our place in the queue and I got pissed off,” I remarked, touching the bruise.
“You should see the other man’s face,” I said with half a smile and left the reception. I entered my room and locked the door. Carefully, I entered the next room through the back door.
Natalia and the others were still in the living room. As soon as I entered, Natalia stood up and came over to me.
“Did everything go according to plan? Is Elisabeth okay?” she asked.
“Yes, Blake has arranged everything before we even got there,” I replied, taking a seat and leaning back.
“What happened to your face?” Natalia asked. “Did you fight with Blake?”
“No, that was a welcome home present from my father,” I replied, touching the spot out of habit and closing my eyes. I leaned my head back on the sofa pillow.
“What? Did my father-in-law see you? What about Elisabeth?” Natalia was upset.
“Yes, he saw me. Blake took over. He said he would talk to him and explain everything. As for my Ellie, Blake promised he would keep her safe. I just hope he texts me that everything is okay,” I replied and as if planned, a text from my brother showed up on my phone screen.
“Everything is under control. Elisabeth is just fine.”
I showed the message to Natalia and she smiled.
“My husband is a man of his word,” she informed me proudly.
“Now that we know Elisabeth is safe, we should plan how to proceed here at the motel,” Massimo interrupted and he was right. There was no time to lose.
“Drake, you need to replace the motel owner and tell her you will stay with my sister. In the meantime, you will move in with us and you and Massimo will be ready to interfere if Teresa attempts to hurt Elisa. From the little we know about her, I am sure that she has already researched Elisa and knows what she looks like. So when she sees her in the dining room tomorrow, she might try to harm Lisa and the baby on impulse, without Ace’s help. We need to be prepared for all potential scenarios.” Natalia was firm while giving us instructions. She was so much like my brother. Could that be a coincidence or did the Moon Goddess truly make them for each other from the beginning?
“Okay, I will do that early tomorrow morning,” I replied.
“Massimo, you should be in touch with Blake at all times. Guys, it isn’t helping that we can’t mind-link between us. Texting or calling each other won’t be so helpful and it might be risky,” Natalia huffed, exasperated.
“That would be great but how could we do that? We come from different packs and Drake doesn’t belong to any pack,” Massimo remarked thoughtfully.
Natalia
“Luna Alison,” I whispered after Massimo’s comment and picked up my phone.
“Hello, Dylan, this is Natalia. Again, I would like to ask for a favour,” I giggled, winking at Elisa.
“How can I help you, Natalia?” Dylan’s pleasant voice came from the other side of the line.
“We might need your grandmother’s help again. We need to communicate between us through the mind link. It will be more effective and safer than texting or calling each other. That way we will move faster if something unexpected happens,” I explained and Dylan laughed.
“Now I know why my dear friend is crazy about you, Natalia. He loves your creative mind. Let me get my grandmother for you.”
I didn’t wait long. Soon Luna Alison’s melodic voice called my name.
“Hello? Natalia dear, how are you? Dylan told me you need my help. If it’s okay with you, I will be your link. I will connect you to me, use my powers, and simultaneously transfer each other’s thoughts to all of you, avoiding any mishaps. What do you think?” I could feel her smiling.
“That would be amazing, Luna Alison. Thank you so much,” I replied.
“Okay, give me some time and I will get back to you. Dylan will tell me who I should connect with. Ah, Dylan says he will take part too. He wishes to assist you if you encounter any trouble,” Luna Alison informed me and ended the call.
“Problem solved,” I said and smiled contently.
“What do you mean?” Massimo asked and before I had the chance to reply, a sweet melodic voice made him and Drake jump in surprise.
“Hello there, boys. Natalia asked for my help. If you don’t know who I am, let me introduce myself. I am Luna Alison Northwood, Dylan’s grandmother, and I will be pleased to assist you. Natalia will explain how we are going to work together. The link will stay open until you finish your mission. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to see my great-grandchild. My Blue is calling me.”
She closed the link and I laughed as both men looked at me, dumbfounded.
“Natalia?” my husband mind-linked me.
“Yes, honey?”
“Was having Luna Alison mind-link us all your idea, sweetie?”
“Yes, honey,” I replied and giggled.
“Baby, I am the luckiest guy on earth to have you as my woman,” my husband said in a hoarse voice and I got the meaning behind his words.
“I love you, Blake. Please explain to Elisabeth what happened because she’s probably upset. She is unaware of my actions,” I pleaded with my mate and he promised to do so as soon as we ended the mind-link conversation.
“Blake baby, I need to go. Massimo and Drake have lost it,” I said playfully as I watched both men pacing the room, waiting for me to explain and my husband laughed.
“Okay, babe, talk to you later,” he said and closed our link.
“Take a seat and I will explain how Luna Alison linked us in simple terms and what she will do to help us,” I told them.
Elisa was speechless after she heard me clarify Dylan’s grandmother’s abilities and her way of helping us.
“It’s unbelievable what some of your kind can do.” My friend could still not believe what she had just heard me say.
“Now that we have sorted that part, let’s talk about tomorrow. Drake, you will talk to the motel owner and Elisa and I will show up for breakfast. Who will be at the reception tomorrow?”
“It’s my shift and I am thinking of working for a few hours and then telling Tia that I have to leave for the hospital. It will make my story more believable,” Drake explained.
“That sounds good. Massimo, you will stay here and wait for us to come back. We won’t do anything before Luna Alison opens the link. We must be able to communicate whenever it’s needed. Is that okay with everyone?” I looked at the three of them, waiting for a reply and smiled at Elisa.
“You will be with me, Liz. Since you cannot communicate as we do, you should never stay alone anywhere. Is that clear?”
My friend nodded and I yawned.
“Guys, sorry but we should go to bed. We have a long day ahead of us and need to rest. So, Drake, you go back to your room, and Massimo you take Elisa and go to bed in the room with the double bed. I will take the smaller bed in the second room. See you tomorrow, guys,” I yawned again and left for my room.
When I got up the following day, I found Massimo and Elisa waiting for me in the living room. Lisa had prepared some coffee for Massimo with the ingredients Drake had supplied the previous night.
“Good morning, everyone.” Luna Alison’s voice startled Massimo and me.
“As of today, the link will stay open until the end of your mission,” Luna Alison announced happily.
“Do not hesitate and talk openly between you. I will make sure the others get the message instantly. Oh, boy, I am so excited to use this way of communication after so many years. The memories this brings me are so intense,” she continued.
“Good morning Luna Alison,” I replied. “We are heading for breakfast. If anything happens, I will let you know.”
“You guys should forget that I am the middleman. You must talk between yourselves as if I don’t exist. Natalia, if you want to tell Massimo something, do it from the dining room as if he is standing right next to you. I will transfer your voice to him,” Luna Alison guided us with her beautiful voice and gave us the confidence we needed to move on.
Holding Elisa’s arm, we left the room and headed to the dining room. Passing reception, we saw Drake working on the laptop. He saw us and nodded and I thought I should use the link and see how it worked.
“If you notice Teresa coming our way, notify me so that we can be prepared,” I linked and surprised, I heard Drake’s voice clearly as he said yes.
“s**t, that was fast,” I thought and Luna Alison laughed. I had forgotten that she, too, could read minds and that things would be easier for her with the link she had created to connect us.
“I told you before, Natalia, it will be as if we’re talking in the same room. You of all people should know what it’s like to have a gifted wolf, right?”
“Thank you for reminding my human how lucky she is to have me,” Leia interfered.
“Problem solved,” I said and smiled contently.
“What do you mean?” Massimo asked and before I had the chance to reply, a sweet melodic voice made him and Drake jump in surprise.
“You are more than welcome, Leia,” Luna Alison’s wolf replied and that’s when I lost it.
“Don’t think too much, Natalia. Save your energy for what’s coming,” Luna Alison told me and I knew she was right.
Elisa and I entered the dining room and chose a table across the entrance. I wanted to have a clear view of whoever came in so that we wouldn’t miss Teresa and her reaction.
A lady around her fifties came to us and introduced herself as Tia, the motel owner. So, she was the one who took care of my sister when Drake was working. She wished us a pleasant stay and asked what we would like for breakfast. We gave our orders and, pretending to feel embarrassed, I asked if we could order an extra portion to take with us to our room. Seeing that we were both pregnant, Tia laughed wholeheartedly and replied that she would prepare the extra portion for takeaway.
“Your sweetheart will have his food served, Liz,” I joked and she smiled at me.
“I feel like a pig by the way you ordered the food,” she giggled and I burst out laughing.
Tia came and served us the food. We started eating when I heard Tia welcome someone.
“Good morning Teresa. Good thing you are here. Could you please take over from Drake after breakfast? He needs to go to the hospital and stay with Elisabeth.”
Elisa and I locked eyes and I saw hatred in hers. I placed my hand on hers to reassure my friend and smiled.
“Don’t forget why we are here. Think of it as one of those cases we dealt with so many times” I whispered and Elisa nodded her head. We continued eating as if nothing happened but I watched Teresa from the corner of my eye.
She looked around carefully and when her eyes landed on us, she stared persistently. Her eyes went from Elisa to me and back. She finally landed her eyes on my friend and sneered. I looked in her direction and she could not hide the hatred she felt for Elisa. She didn’t even notice that I was watching her.
I turned to face my friend and joked about something making Elisa laugh. Deep inside, I had become a flaming volcano ready to explode and take everything with me.
“Calm down, Nat. this is not the right time. We won’t let anything happen to Lisa. Teresa will pay for her actions in due time,” Leia comforted me and I followed my wolf’s advice.
“Enemy’s intentions confirmed,” I mind-linked, feeling like a spy from an action movie and Massimo’s wolf’s angry growl sent chills down my spine.
“That bi.tch. I will kill her,” he cursed.
“Easy there, boys. To achieve your goal will take patience and sanity,” Luna Alison’s voice was like purifying water in our souls.
Teresa left the dining room and headed to the kitchen.
What happened next was beyond my imagination. Tia came to our table o ask if we wanted some apple pie with a topping of vanilla ice cream as a dessert.
“We don’t normally serve that in the morning, but since you are both pregnant, I thought I should make an exception,” she explained smiling.
I looked at Elisa waiting for her reaction and she nodded, thanking Tia who went back to the kitchen.
Elisa and I were watching a video on my phone and engrossed as we were in our conversation, we didn’t pay any attention when our apple pie arrived. When the plates were on the table, we looked up to thank Tia and came face to face with a fake-smiling Teresa.
“Your dessert, ladies,” she said with her Italian accent and Elisa smiled back, touching her swollen belly.
“Thank you,” she said and took the first bite.
“Mm, delicious,” she m****d and locked eyes with Teresa.
“Are you Italian too?” she asked with an exaggerated Italian accent, smiling and blinking innocently.
What the fu.ck? Elisa could speak English fluently. Why the act?
That wasn’t a part of the plan.
Teresa nodded and kept fake-smiling.
“How did you end up here?” Elisa continued and I held my breath.
“I broke up with my boyfriend and wanted a change of scenery. What about you?” Teresa shamelessly asked.
“I just got a wedding proposal from mine. And I plan to go back to Italy and marry him,” Elisa blinked playfully and took another bite from her dessert, her eyes never leaving Teresa’s face. The bit.ch paled instantly and excused herself to go to work.
“Elisa, why the hell did you do that?” I whispered to my friend, my heart still pounding like crazy at Elisa’s reaction to Teresa.
“Don’t we want to rush things? Well, now that bi.tch won’t take long to make her move,” Elisa sneered, and with a stony expression, she took another bite of her dessert.
s**t! My best friend just declared war on Teresa and she had won the first round.
