Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 68
The Dinners Inn motel, California
Teresa
I left the dining room in a rush. If I stayed there longer, I would attack the bit.ch boasting about Massimo’s proposal and ruin everything Ace and I had planned for so long.
I knew she was Massimo’s woman the moment I laid my eyes on her; Mattia had shown me her photo when he had her investigated. The bi.tch had the looks to attract Massimo, that I had to say. Wedding proposal my a*s. She would be dead soon and Massimo would lose everything just like I did. He would be miserable for the rest of his life. I couldn’t kill his father but I wouldn’t spare his woman.
The other one was Natalia, Blake’s wife. My suspicions were correct when I checked the new arrivals at reception. Why did they come to the motel? Had Drake told them about Ace and his plan? Or was it a coincidence? How much did they know? I had to replace out and then inform Ace.
Drake had left the reception and Tia was in his place. I asked where he went, and she said he had to leave in a hurry because Elisabeth needed him at the hospital.
“He won’t be coming back, Teresa. We should take over his shifts until he returns,” Tia concluded and got ready to leave the reception.
I stopped her.
“Hey, Tia, don’t you replace it strange that two pregnant women are staying together in our motel? I mean where are their husbands? How could they leave them alone like that?” I asked while checking the computer for new arrivals. Tia liked to gossip and my question allowed her to engage in her favourite sport.
“I am not sure, but I suspect that the green-eyed one had a fight with her husband and left their house bringing her friend who had been visiting her. I’m sure she will go back soon. These things don’t take long, Teresa. She left the house on a whim and her husband probably gave her some time to relax. I bet he will come and get her back in a few days. I’ve witnessed this scenario more than once. Pregnancy can do things to women you know. When you have your babies someday you will remember my words,” Tia patted my shoulder and left for the dining room.
Her last words were like a knife to my heart. I would never have a baby. I was unable to and that was Maurizio Azzarello’s fault. Balling my hands into fists, I cursed him and swore to myself that Maurizio would never become a grandfather. If I knew I was going see Elisa this morning, I would have brought poison with me, found a way, and given it to her. s**t! The apple pie was a great opportunity and I missed it.
I focused on Tia’s words. What if she was right? What if Natalia fought with Blake and left the house? I had to replace out. I looked around to make sure I was alone and picked up the phone to call Ace.
“Teresa? Is anything wrong?” Ace sounded worried on the other side of the line. He was not used to me calling him in the morning and assumed something happened.
“Ace, Natalia and Elisa are indeed at the motel. I had an encounter with them this morning. I couldn’t confirm their relationship with Drake but they don’t seem to be worried about anything. What if Drake didn’t tell them anything about you? I don’t know. Maybe they patched up things between them and when Natalia argued with Blake she turned to Drake for help. But then again, why did they use fake names to book their rooms?” I expressed my worries.
“Teresa, calm down. Don’t forget that Blake is a public figure in the human world. And Natalia’s identity as Blake’s wife is well-known in California. There aren’t many people with the Hunter name in California. If she used her real name, she would cause a scandal in the business world. Blake’s woman is a lawyer and a good one. She wouldn’t jeopardise her husband’s image over a fight,” Ace replied sceptically, which put me at ease.
“Ace, we must make our move sooner than expected. What if Natalia goes back to her husband? Isn’t it better if we act now that they are both here? We should arrange their abduction as soon as possible. I will get my revenge and you will force Blake by threatening him with his wife’s life. You must think of a way to put our plan into action. I can’t stand listening to that pregnant bi.tch boasting about Massimo’s wedding proposal,” I sneered and ended the call because Natalia and Elisa were coming my way.
“Is there anything I can do to help you, ladies?” I faked a smile and avoided looking at their swollen bellies.
“Could you please tell the cleaner not to come to our room? We won’t be staying for long, anyway. We will inform you if we need the service,” Natalia said with a smile and I nodded. They left the reception and headed to their room. I stared at their departing figures with hatred. Soon, pretty soon they would stop their carefree laughter, I thought menacingly and checked their reservation in the system to confirm their room number. They were right next to Drake and Elisabeth. That meant they had indeed solved the misunderstanding between them. It also meant that Ace should put our plan into action before Drake came back from the hospital. Those bitc.hes should not have the chance to rely on him for help.
Ace’s Apartment, California
Ace Jones
Teresa ended the call without warning and left me hanging. I sent her a message to make sure she was all right and she replied that Natalia and Elisa had appeared in front of her. That made sense.
“Think fast, Ace. We need to act immediately,” she texted.
Teresa was furious, I could tell. Her hatred for Massimo and his woman was deep, deeper than mine for Blake. Boy, that woman was a splendid match for me. I would do anything to please her and then make her mine.
I picked up the phone and called my Beta, asking him to come to my apartment. I needed to arrange the final details before the kidnapping operation took place.
Mattia was in the living room watching tv when my Beta came. I had no reason to hide while talking to my Beta. Mattia didn’t know any English.
“You need to arrange the van that will take the hostages to our hiding place. You must have four men with you, our most trusted ones. We should strike tomorrow at midnight. Drake is not at the motel and that will make our work much easier. I will inform Teresa that we will act tomorrow at midnight so that she is ready to leave with me after we take the hostages with us,” I instructed.
“What about him?” my Beta nodded at Mattia.
“As soon as I have Teresa with me, we won’t need him anymore. You should take him out of the apartment and kill him for me. When Teresa realises she has no one to care for her, she would have no other option but to stay with me,” I boasted, looking at Mattia’s indifferent face.
“Oh, and don’t forget to take the vials with the wolfsbane inside with you. We will need them to weaken Blake’s wife and try it on her friend. If she is pregnant with a werewolf’s pup, the wolfsbane should affect her, right?”
My Beta agreed and left in a hurry. He had to arrange the van and remove the licence plates. We had secured an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city, a remote area where it would be hard to replace us. Until we wanted to be found.
I picked up my phone and texted Teresa.
“Start packing. We will attack tomorrow at midnight. Be ready to leave with me. Send me the location and the room number. Is there a way to enter from the back unnoticed?”
“Yes, there is an alley which leads to the motel’s backyard. I will send you the coordinates,” she replied.
“Great! Everything is going as planned. And as for you, you will soon be out of my way,” I told Mattia, who stared at me indifferently.
I left the living room and headed to my bedroom. I needed to rest and think about how I would soon become the Alpha of the Dark Moon pack and the owner of Blake’s fortune.
Mattia
I had been listening to the a*s.hole’s conversation, first with Teresa and then with his man. Good thing I never revealed that I could speak English fluently. That goddamn shorty was planning to have me killed and keep Teresa by forcing himself on her.
He thought that because he was a werewolf he could do whatever he pleased. Too bad he never went to the trouble of investigating me. He should have realised that I am not one to play with. Humans could also be dangerous creatures, especially when someone threatened their life. And Ace just made the mistake of revealing his evil intentions about me.
I wouldn’t spare him or his men. If he could use wolfsbane, so could I. I had to get in touch with my people in the US. They would supply me with the necessities in no time. But first, I had to inform Teresa. That stupid woman got herself in trouble once more and I would be the one to save her again. Why the hell did I always do what she said? I knew the answer to my question but never admitted my true feelings to her.
“Is there anything I can do to help you, ladies?” I faked a smile and avoided looking at their swollen bellies.
I picked up my phone and sent her a message.
“Teresa, voglio che tu stia molto attenta con quella corta. Vuole che mi tolga di mezzo per costringerti a stare con lui. Fai finta di non sapere nulla e lascia tutto a me. Mi prenderò cura di lui. Mantieni le distanze senza che lui sospetti di te.” (Teresa, I want you to be very careful with the short one. He wants me out of the way to force you to be with him. Pretend you know nothing and leave everything to me. I will take care of him. Keep your distance and make sure he doesn’t suspect you.”
“Mattia, per favore, stai attento. Non voglio che ti succeda qualcosa di brutto. Non devi preoccuparti per me. Sarò cauto con lui. Si prega di essere in contatto con me in ogni momento. Non fare niente senza dirmelo. Per favore!” (Mattia, please be careful; I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. You don’t need to worry about me. I will be cautious around him. Please stay in touch with me at all times and don’t do anything without telling me. Please!) a very upset Teresa replied.
I read the message again and again with a sad smile. Teresa was genuinely worried about my safety. She always told me I was her best friend, her guardian angel. She never said she loved me, though. Despite our intimate moments, Teresa never gave me the green light to proceed any further and reveal my true feelings to her.
And now I had to do everything in my power to protect her from Ace and prepare a backup plan in case her attempt to hurt Massimo’s woman failed. No one should know that she was involved in Ace’s plans if things went badly.
I left the apartment and went to the cafe across the road. I ordered my coffee and made a call.
“Hey, Mattia, what’s up, man?” the voice on the other side of the line asked.
“Hey, mate, how are you?” I replied in fluent English with a vicious smile on my face, thinking of Ace’s surprise if he ever heard me speak like that.
“What is it this time?” he asked.
“I need you to replace me wolfsbane and whatever weakens a werewolf,” I blurted out and shocked my friend.
“Mattia, what are you up to? Dealing with werewolves is not a joke, man. Are you fuc.king serious?” he screamed on the phone.
“Don’t worry, man. Just get me the goddamn stuff. I need them urgently, like in three hours,” I replied calmly and ended the call. I knew he would do anything in his power to provide me with what I asked. He owed me since I saved his life in Palermo six years before.
I went upstairs and sat in front of the TV. Ace was still in his room and I hoped he would stay there until I got the stuff. My wish came true and Ace didn’t come down.
I had been watching a movie when my phone screen flashed and a message popped up.
“I am in the underground parking space. Come and get your things.”
I left the apartment in a rush and took the elevator to the basement. I found him waiting for me in his car.
“Take it but be careful. You cannot use it carelessly,” he said, giving me two vials.
“What did you bring me?’ I asked.
“Wolfsbane and silver. They told me you should use it in small doses until tomorrow. You should replace an opportunity to put it in the food or drinks your target will have.” He gave me the vials and drove away.
I placed the vials in my pocket and went upstairs. I took two glasses and poured some whisky. It was Ace’s favourite drink after he woke up from his afternoon nap. Taking Ace’s glass, I put a few drops of each vial into his drink, shook it well and waited for Ace to show up.
He found me sitting on the couch having my drink and watching a movie. I nodded at him and gave him his drink. It was a habit we had established after living together for so long.
Ace took the drink from my hands, sat next to me and gulped it down in a single movement. I continued watching the movie with a faint smile on my face.
