Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 84
The Midnight Shifters pack, Italy
Massimo
I had just finished with my father and decided to check on Elisa and my mother. I didn’t know why but I had a bad feeling about their first encounter and it would be my fault. I hadn’t had the time to speak to my mother and explain some things to her before she met Elisa.
I knew my mother wouldn’t do anything to hurt Elisa purposely but still, she might frighten her. My instinct wasn’t wrong because as I got to the door, I heard my Mother asking Elisa if she would turn into a werewolf.
I barged into the office and saw a pale Elisa sitting next to my mother unable to believe what she had heard. My mother had scared the shi.t out of her.
“Mum, what are you telling her?” I lashed out and rushed to Elisa, kneeling in front of her.
“Baby, are you okay? Shall I get you a glass of water?” I asked, concerned. She was still as pale as if she had seen a ghost.
“No Massimo, I am fine. A little surprised and scared but I’m okay, don’t worry,” she whispered, squeezing my hand and resting her head on my body.
“Mum, could you leave us alone, please? Now!” I ordered. My mother had a sad expression on her face, watching the pale Elisa.
“I am sorry my dear I didn’t mean to scare you like that. I thought you already knew; that’s why I mentioned it to you,” she apologised and my mate smiled despite her condition.
“It’s okay Luna, don’t worry about it. Maybe someone else should have told me from the beginning, but for his own reasons decided otherwise,” Elisa replied to my mother with a weak smile giving me a deadly look. Her beautiful eyes were angry.
When my mother left the office, Elisa turned to me.
“Why didn’t you tell me about this, Massimo? You could have at least prepared me because your mother thought it was wise to let me know I had this option, and she found it natural that I should proceed with it,” Elisa accused me.
“I didn’t want to upset you like you are now, Elisa. It doesn’t matter to me whether you turn into a werewolf or if my child is born as a hybrid and not a pure-b***d werewolf,” I tried to explain to my mate in a quiet voice, holding her tightly in my arms and caressing her long hair.
Elisa looked at me suspiciously and popped the question I was afraid of after what my mother told her.
“Is that what Luna Alison meant when she said I should wait until the baby was born? That she would explain how to turn into a werewolf if I wanted to? Don’t you dare lie to me Massimo. Tell me the truth,” my mate demanded, flushed with anger.
I lowered my head and breathed deeply because I knew what would follow. Elisa was already pissed off with me and I didn’t know how she would react to my reply.
“Yes, baby. Luna Alison told me to tell you how you could turn into a werewolf if you wanted, giving our baby the possibility of being born a pure werewolf instead of a hybrid. The potion she had been giving you all the time would be of great help if you decided to take the big step and ask me to bite you and turn you into a werewolf,” I confessed.
“Why didn’t she say anything to me? Why did she tell me I should give birth to the baby first and then she would let me know? Did you ask her to do so, Massimo?” Elisa insisted in a high-pitched voice, pressing me for the truth.
“I didn’t want to scare you, Elisa. We just dealt with the kidnapping incident, Teresa died, and you felt guilty about Fabrizio for no reason. I didn’t want to add more stress, baby. As I said, there is nothing wrong with a hybrid baby. I will train him as much as I can and he will gain all the power needed to protect himself. I asked Luna Alison to keep this a secret from you and let you know after you gave birth to the baby. I didn’t want to disturb your pregnancy, honey,” I admitted, holding her hand and not letting go.
“Does that mean that if I decided to turn, the procedure wouldn’t hurt the baby?” Elisa kept asking questions.
“Yes. The potion Luna Alison was giving you has prepared the baby for something like that. It wouldn’t affect it at all. I decided not to tell you because I didn’t want to stress you any further, Elisa. I would never ask you to do anything you might feel uncomfortable with,” I explained.
“So, it doesn’t matter how far the pregnancy is, as long as you bite me and your saliva mixes with my b***d right? At least that’s what your mother told me,” Elisa questioned, her eyes not leaving mine.
“Exactly.” With how things turned out I could no longer hide anything from her.
“What’s the procedure for this? I mean how does a human turn into a werewolf?” Elisa’s questions continued.
“It’s not as easy as it sounds, Elisa; that’s why I didn’t want you to go through it while pregnant. For me to bite you and turn you into a werewolf means I must shift into my wolf form and sink my canines into your skin. Won’t that be scary for you? What if something happens to you or the baby because my wolf’s presence terrifies you?” I questioned, not afraid to show her that this possibility scared me too.
“I should have at least been given the right to choose, Massimo. Keeping me in the dark doesn’t help,” Elisa objected, pushing me away angrily.
“I know, sweetie; I am sorry,” I replied and Elisa looked at me.
“I need some time alone,” she said and I helped her up.
“Let me take you back to our room. You should rest Elisa. Please try to understand, baby. I had my reasons for keeping it from you,” I told her but Elisa was too upset to reply.
I helped her lie down and went looking for my mother. She would have to answer me for upsetting Elisa like that.
“How could you, mum?” Those were my first words when I found my mother outside in the garden. She turned to look at me and seemed pretty upset.
“I am sorry, son. I didn’t mean to upset Elisa like that. I thought she already knew, so I mentioned it to her. Wasn’t that the first thing you should have told her? You know how good this would be for Elisa and the baby. We won’t have to fear for her life by giving birth to your baby. Massimo. How could you keep that a secret from her, son?” my mother scolded me.
“Things happened, Mother and I didn’t have the chance to tell you. Elisa is already upset. She went through so many things that made her emotionally unstable.”
“Teresa was alive, for heaven’s sake. She tried to harm Elisa and the baby. We had to form a plan to take her and her accomplices down and Elisa was a part of that plan, the bait. So don’t lecture me for not telling her something scary, Mum. I couldn’t jeopardise her mental state, nor my baby’s safety,” I mind-linked her so that nobody else could hear and my mother stood rooted, dumbfounded by what she heard.
“What do you mean, Massimo? How could Teresa be alive? What about Fabrizio?” my mother asked, unable to believe my words.
“She was alive, Mother and she was the one behind father’s accident. When she failed, she followed me to California and tried to harm Elisa and my baby. It’s a long story and yes, Fabrizio knew what his daughter was up to. He was the one to put an end to her devious plans, using her as a human shield to protect Elisa and the baby. Thank heavens, Luna Alison took his memories, or else he would be dead by now,” I informed my mum.
“Unbelievable,” my mother whispered, looking at me, terrified.
“Son, I messed up big time with Elisa. She must consider me a wicked mother-in-law whose primary concern is her son’s and grandson’s well-being. I only wanted to explain that turning into a werewolf would be safer. I must apologise and explain to the poor girl,” my mother said. She was upset and seemed anxious to speak to my mate.
“Not now, mum. Elisa is resting upstairs in our room. You can talk to her later,” I replied.
“There is no need for that,” Elisa’s voice interrupted our conversation and startled me.
“Baby, I thought you were sleeping,” I rushed to her and she looked at me, upset.
“I knew you would tell your mother off, and I tried to prevent it, Massimo. All Luna Isa did was tell me the truth. She is not to be blamed, especially by you. It’s all your fault, Massimo. You should apologise to your mother right now,” Elisa replied authoritatively, making my mother laugh.
“Feisty. I like that,” she teased me and turned to Elisa.
“No matter whose fault it is, I should apologise to you, Elisa. I was out of line and scared you. My main concern was for you to have the baby safely without endangering your life. As for my grandson or granddaughter being a hybrid, it is the least of my concerns, my child. I will still dote on him or her.” My mother smiled, and Elisa smiled back.
“Thank you, Luna, but that won’t be necessary. When is the right time for Massimo’s wolf to bite me?” Elisa asked and my mouth dropped.
“Baby, you don’t have to do this,” I said and she looked at me coldly.
“That’s for me to decide, Massimo. You shouldn’t have kept it a secret from me. Do you think of me as a weakling who cannot cope with a simple doggy bite?”
“A doggy bite?” My mother found her expression hilarious and laughed.
“Well?” Elisa ignored my mother’s laughter and asked again.
“For something like that to happen, we should have a full moon,” I replied, giving up.
“When is that?” Elisa insisted.
“In two days,” my mother replied looking at Elisa with great interest.
“Will it affect me somehow?” My mate was curious.
“A werewolf’s saliva has venom, Elisa. Mixed with human b***d it might cause an infection, and the person bitten might suffer from fever and delirium for a few days. I guess that’s why Massimo avoided telling you,” my mother replied calmly.
“Will that affect the baby or just me?” Elisa was persistent and my mother looked at her with admiration.
“You sure are a badass girl, Elisa,” she said and then continued. “It will only affect you. Nothing will happen to the baby.”
“Good. In two days then,” my mate replied and smiled.
“I feel hungry again. Massimo, can you get me something to eat?” she asked, making my mother laugh again.
“Come with me, my dear. We have strawberries, chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream. Let me make you some pancakes,” my mother told her and they left together, chatting happily as if nothing significant had happened seconds ago.
“We sure have a feisty human as a mate, Massimo. I can’t wait to sink my canines into her skin,” Onyx told me and upset me more.
“I guess you are in trouble, Massimo,” Luna Alison’s voice came through the mind link she had created.
“Luna Alison? How did you know?” I asked, confused.
“I told you that keeping the secret from Elisa would bring you trouble. Your woman is not simple, Massimo. Elisa is strong-willed and is not afraid of challenges. She called me and asked whether she could turn into a werewolf before the baby was born. I could not lie to her, my boy. I told her the entire truth. Your human mate is determined to turn into a werewolf as soon as possible. She is fearless, Massimo,” Luna Alison said.
“s**t! She came prepared,” I replied and Luna Alison giggled.
“Good thing she didn’t prove me wrong, Massimo. I told you that this girl would turn your world upside down,” Luna Alison teased me, and I closed my eyes, feeling helpless.
