"Listen up. Thanks to my kind boss, you're still alive and able to hear me. If it were up to me..." Shawn looked at the bruised Gloam Wing members on the ground and threatened, "I would've buried you alive. I'll let you off now, but I hope you remember not to mess with my boss anymore. Let's go, boys." His men's faces indicated they were bored. As they walked away, one of them gave Cyrus' buttocks a harsh kick.

As the sound of the car engines faded away, the Gloam Wings who played dead finally dared to move a finger.

"Ouch!"

"D*mn them!"

"Those motherf*ckers are unbelievable!"

The Gloam Wing members grimaced as they struggled to stand, cursing Shawn and his group.

After a few minutes, everyone had helped each other up from the ground. They even gasped in pain from time to time. Cyrus remained lying on the ground.

A man cautiously picked up a stick to poke his body, yet he didn't utter a word.

"D*mn! Commander Hale isn't dead, is he?"

The other members turned pale with shock and circled the pair to have a better look.

"Help me up!" Cyrus ordered through gritted teeth. Only then, his men rushed to help him up.

He was covered in footprints everywhere, including his cheeks.

Shawn's men paid extra attention to him as he was the leader. He struggled to stand.

His face was cold with anger when he ordered his men. "Let's go now. I want to report to His Majesty at the court tomorrow."

The next morning, he limped in to attend court.

The ministers gasped in shock when they found the commander of the Gloam Wing in such a poor state.

The Gloam Wing Secret Service served the king alone. Hurting them was undoubtedly disrespecting the king.

"Your Majesty, after Matthew

insulted us, he sent people to hunt us down. We would have been a goner if we hadn't fled in time." His voice rang across the hall.

The ministers' faces were filled with strange expressions.

It was common knowledge that Gadel only ascended to the throne with Matthew's help.

Cyrus' words showed he was trying to drive a wedge between the king and Matthew.

Gadel remained calm and composed on the throne, staring at Cyrus wordlessly.

"Your Majesty, Matthew doesn't respect you at all. Your Majesty. Back then, he only defeated Iris-"

Looking at the seemingly loyal man in the center, Gadel spoke with a smirk. "Cyrus, Matthew called me and explained everything last night, including your involvement in the incident." en Narugi

Cyrus stiffened as his words were cut short. His heart raced in his chest.

"Your Majesty, my methods may have been a bit aggressive, but I swear I'm loyal to you." He shifted the focus from his act of violence to his loyalty to Gadel.

Staring at him with a blank face,

Gadel announced, "Cyrus Hale, the commander of the Gloam Wing Secret Service, will be whipped for acting aggressively and harming a civilian during a mission."

Cyrus winced at the order. He instinctively touched his still-sore buttocks.

Not only did he have to get kicked in the buttocks by a group of strong men, but he also needed to endure a punishment on the same spot upon his return.

The soldiers dragged him out of the palace for execution.

"I'm sorry, Your Majesty! Please spare me! Ouch! It hurts, it hurts!"

His screams made the minister's stomach churn. The punishment Cyrus received indicated Matthew's significant position in Gadel's court.

Little did they know, the mention of Iris had incited fear in Gadel's heart.
