Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3191 Elder Wynter
The room fell into a deathly silence. Neither Gadel nor Dorothy spoke, yet it was as if a thousand words had passed between them.
After a long pause, Gadel let out a slow sigh, his voice heavy with regret. "It is my failure to manage my court that has caused you all to suffer."
Dorothy offered a faint smile, her tone turning to one of reassurance. "Your Majesty, where there are people, there will be conflicts. No need to take it so hard."
Then, as if suddenly recalling the main purpose of Gadel's visit, she asked, "Your Majesty, did you come today concerning the future queen?"
She had begun gathering information in secret after hearing about the plane crash several days ago, so she had a hunch as to why Gadel was here.
"Though I am the head witch doctor, I'm afraid there isn't anything I can do to help Princess Fiorenna's situation."
The light in Gadel's eyes gradually faded. Even the long-standing witch doctors of Montiria had no solution.
"But just because I can't help doesn't mean others can't," Dorothy continued, her words like a lifeline to Gadel. The dimness in his eyes brightened once more as he fixed his gaze on her, desperate to hear what she had to say next. "There is an elder in our witch doctor lineage, a master known for her unparalleled skill and longevity techniques. She's known as Elder Wynter."
"Where is she now?" Gadel looked at Dorothy, his voice laced with urgency. "I'll go personally to invite her."
Dorothy shook her head. "Elder Wynter reached the limit of her lifespan long ago and had no choice but to seal herself within a snow mountain. I will bring her back by nightfall."
Dorothy's words settled like a balm on Gadel's anxious heart. He looked at her with complete trust and said, "Go ahead, Lady Clementine. While you do, I'll rid Everton of every traitor... one by one!"
Gadel's tone carried a menacing edge. He had thought his iron-fisted rule would bring temporary peace to the court. But clearly, some people just couldn't control their insatiable greed.
Finally, he understood why the Witch Tower had politely declined his two previous overtures. The entire 3 million in funds had been whittled down layer by layer until only a paltry 200 thousand remained.
As Gadel stepped out of the Witch Tower, he saw his guards and Arnold waiting outside. He ordered loudly, "Summon all the ministers for an emergency council. I don't care if they're in the middle of childbirth-drag them back here!" "At once, Your Majesty."
Dozens of soldiers dispersed to carry out the order, while Arnold and Jaylen approached. Arnold's once short hair had grown slightly longer, now brushing his shoulders, adding to the warm impression his face gave. "Your Majesty, has something happened?" Arnold asked.
Gadel briefly recounted the corruption and exploitation that had been plaguing the court. As for Jaylen, discussing national affairs with him was pointless.
In response, a fleeting but sharp glint of murderous intent crossed Arnold's light blue eyes as he nodded to Gadel, indicating he understood.
Meanwhile, Jaylen was completely bewildered. Who am I? Where am I? What are you even talking about?
By dawn, the palace was awash with blood, heads Tolling as Gadel issued a thunderous proclamation, "Hoard wealth if you wish, but only after fulfilling your duties. Fail in your tasks and dare to be greedy, and the only reward is death!"
Far away, over 600 miles from Everton, at the base of a snow-covered mountain, Dorothy stood, gazing up at the towering
peak. The biting, knife-like winds net
didn't seem to affect her at all. She still wore the same slightly worn clothing, though a frosty blue token now hung at her waist, emitting a cold aura.
Dorothy made her way up the mountain at a steady pace, taking just two hours to reach the summit that pierced the clouds. The icy blue token at her waist began to glow, slowly lifting into the air. As the light from the token spread, the snow before her parted, revealing a hidden cave within.
