Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Chapter 3199 Cathay's Wrath

In Hulwin, Matthew was buried in a mountain of paperwork at the Martial League headquarters.

The workload at the Martial League was overwhelming, and even if Matthew worked around the clock, he couldn't possibly finish everything. The thick stack of papers on his desk was only the most critical documents. Ring, ring, ring...

Suddenly, the desk phone rang. Without thinking, Matthew picked it up and answered, "Matthew Larson speaking."

It was a phrase he'd repeated so many times in the past few days that it had almost become second nature. "President, we've reviewed surveillance from nearby cities, and it appears your wife has headed toward Montiria."

"Are you sure?" Matthew immediately perked up, eagerly asking for confirmation.

"Yes, we've spotted her figure in several cameras leading toward Montiria."

"Alright, got it. Everyone's bonus this year is doubled."

He hung up the phone in a rush, the thought of paperwork now miles from his mind. He stood up, ready to call Shawn Warde to take over for him so he could set out to replace his wife. Ring, ring, ring...

The phone rang again, and this time, Matthew answered with a trace of impatience. "What now?"

"Matthew, it's me, Blake." Blake's voice came through the line, heavy and trembling. Even over the phone, Matthew could sense the seething rage within the elder back in Bainbridge.

"Elder Carr, what's happened?" If Blake was calling, it could only mean something serious had occurred.

"Just now, the Cathian embassy in Montiria sent a message to us. They said..." Blake's voice faltered, and he struggled to continue. The elder, one of Cathay's most revered figures, was choking up.

"The king's forces in Montiria have arrested tens of thousands of Cathian civilians on trumped-up charges Worse still... according to our spies, those arrested have been tortured and coerced into false confessions. Over ten thousand Cathians have already been killed..."

Matthew's eyes widened, and he almost dropped the phone. On the battlefield, he was a commander, able to mask his grief and lead even as the bodies piled up. But

this thousands of his countrymen tortured and killed for no reason-shook him to his core.

Boom!

With a sudden burst of anger, Matthew slammed his fist into the solid wood desk, reducing it to splinters.

His mind was anything but calm. There was only one thought burning within him-vengeance for his fallen countrymen.

"Elder Carr, I know what needs to be done."

"Matthew, don't worry about the consequences. If necessary, Cathay will go to war!" Blake's resolute voice only strengthened Matthew's resolve.

After ending the call, Matthew pulled out his cell phone and dialed Gadel's number. The call connected quickly, but neither man spoke for a long moment. Finally, Matthew broke the silence. "Gadel, you know what it means for me to be calling you right now, don't you?"

"Cathay has learned of the situation. If I don't provide an explanation, Cathay will go to war, correct?"

"That's right. Cathay will not allow its people to be bullied and killed in silence. And this time, with the deaths of so many, you must understand the consequences." Gadel paused before replying. "I understand."

"You understand? And you still dare allow such acts?!

"You d*mn well understand and still

dared to do this? Gadel, do you realize just how serious this is? Or is it that anyone who takes your throne is an idiot? First Iris, and nowyou!"

"I will give you a satisfactory explanation."

After hanging up, Gadel sat silently on his throne, gazing out the window at the bright moon, which was suddenly obscured by a thick blanket of clouds. "It seems it's time to act."
