Married By Mistake
Chapter 12

LUNA

“Then when I knelt and proposed, your Mama fainted. I was in a lot of panics then. I thought I can’t marry her anymore.” Dad’s story. Ever since we got along, his story has never stopped. This is where I spent the night because I watched over Papa. I waited for Dylan to come but nothing, I just hoped he would come. “That’s right, she was pregnant with you then. She has no right to refuse of course.”

“You turned Mama around, ‘Pa,” I said and feed him the spoon with broth.

He swallowed it before speaking. “No ah. she’s the one who insists on what we do, eh.”

“‘Still.” I laughed.

“You look like Avery when laughing. She also loses her eyes when she laughs, eh. She’s so thin.” He caressed my cheek. “too bad. God took Mom too early.”

I held his hand. “Dad, don’t be sad. You can’t be stressed.”

“Who’s sad? I am? You’re the sad one. You’ve been looking at your phone. Who are you waiting for to call?”

How I wished he’s going to call or text! Ugh!

Speaking of him calling.

I lower the bowl I was holding. I cleared my throat before speaking. “Camille called me yesterday, ‘Pa. She heard what happened to you.”

Dad almost jumped for joy. If it weren’t for this IV, he would probably have run outside and shouted to the whole world that his favourite child was coming back. “When is she supposed to be back?”

“She didn’t say but she said soon. I tried to call the number she but it’s already cannot be reached.”

“Your sister will be back too, daughter. By the way, Where’s Dylan, why aren’t you with him? Is he still mad at me?” I haven’t spoken yet. I just looked at my phone and sighed. I felt Dad’s hand caressing my hair. “Child, I know I’m the reason your life turned out like this. I know Camille is the one Dylan loves, but unexpectedly, you stood up as his wife to avoid intrigue. Forgive me, child. This is just the way it is. I can think of ways to keep our company from collapsing. “

“It will all end when Camille arrives, too.” I smiled sadly. “A lot will change when she comes home.”

“Do you love Dylan?”

I nodded. It’s good that he knows. “I also told him that Camille called me yesterday. He said nothing. Maybe he still loves Camille. Well, we can’t help it, can we?”

Dad kissed my forehead, a sign of comfort. “I do have too many sins on you.”

I was about to speak but it was interrupted by a knock on the door. It was followed by a baritone voice. “I’m coming in.”

My heart started to pound. He is already here. What to do? Ignore him? Be cold to him? Threat him like he’s nobody? My system started to panic. My back stiffened when I heard the door open.

“Dylan! I thought you were still mad at me.” My Dad said happily.

“I brought you fried chicken, Chicharong flowers, and crispy pork.” What the heck!

“You’re even mad at me.” Papa chuckled. “Are you trying to kill me, son?”

“When are you going to get out of here? You’re taking my wife’s time away from me, Papa.” Dylan said while frowning. He sat in the chair next to me and held my hand. What will I do? If I removed that, Dad will notice that Dylan and I don’t understand each other.

“Why bother calling me ‘Papa’ if you’re going to be rude at me.” Dad laughed and slapped Dylan’s arm. “You’re too serious, son. Smiling will make you feel better. Look at me. ‘Isn’t it, my daughter?”

“Yes, Papa. I peeled Apple for you. Here eat it.”

I just chose to ignore Dylan and I just pretended to feed Papa Apple to separate his hand. From my peripheral vision, I noticed his sharp gaze. I heard him sigh.

Dad and I were talking about business and I was quiet. I stood up when there was a knock on the door. When I opened it the smiling doctor opened up to me. I eased the door open for it to enter.

“I have good news!” Said the doctor as he read the result he was holding. I sat on top of Dad’s bed. “You can come out this afternoon after your results come out, Compadre.”

“Thank you. My back hurts when I lie down. Wait, is there a nice nurse to take care of me?”

I didn’t know that Papa had this side.

“‘Pa! I’m still here.”

“You have other responsibilities, Luna. Besides, I can handle myself.” I doubt.

“I’ll hire a private nurse for you.” Dylan g*****d. I stared at him and raised an eyebrow at him.

The doctor said more results. It is said that Papa’s condition is better than before. It also said Dad’s prescription drugs. I looked at the side table and remembered that there was only a little medicine.

“I’ll just buy your medicine, Pa. Your supply is about to run out.” I said. I was about to pass when Dylan tried to trip me off using his feet. I slapped its leg that blocking my way. “Excuse me.”

I heard it tsk before I passed. He was annoyed again. I was already on a bad trip, I was even more upset when I saw him. Less than a week back I walked out of the private room and went straight to the drugstore.

I gave the pharmacist what Doc prescribed. It looks like Dad has no intention of taking care of me because of Dylan.

“Here it is, Ma’am.” He handed me the plastic.

“Thank you,” I said smiling.

I was currently checking all the plastic medicine when I felt the stiff arm wrap around my waist. he covered my mouth so my scream was suppressed. He pulled me into an empty room.

“Shh.” Dylan? “We need to talk.”

The moment I saw Dylan’s almond eyes, I’ve lost words. I averted my gaze. He followed me.

“You can’t even look at me.” He mumbled.

He removed the hand from my mouth but I still couldn’t breathe because of our closeness. I lean against the door and I get more stressed when I get naughty.

“Dad needs the medicine, so–“

“Bulls-hit!” I winced when I heard him curse. “I just let the night passed that’s why I didn’t come in here. I was going to talk to you but you won’t understand if you’re still mad at me.”

Reasons.

“I don’t care if Camille is still the one you love. I’ve known that for a long time. I know my limitations, I know I can’t replace Camille. I know I have a promise to you, I’ll make you forget all about her, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’m just fooling myself. I’m just relying on myself. Because Dylan, no matter what I do, Camille’s face is still what you see in me. ” I say passionately. I am becoming vocal in my feelings for him. Nothing will happen if I hide.

One of his eyebrows rose. “Are you done? You’ve taken it all out?”

“Not yet. I want to say, I mean, shout in your face, ‘I’m jealous’. But I have no right to do k —“

“You have all the rights. You’re my wife. You’re Miss Reyes.” D. “What am I going to do to you woman ?!”

I cleared my throat and pulled my phone out of my pocket. Dylan stared at it as if wondering. “This is my phone. This is where Camille called. The number of — is still in the call log.”

“Dam-n it, Luna.” He shuddered as he touched my phone. I gasped as he threw it at the wall. It was falling apart. With the strength of its rock, I think, even the screen is cracked! “Woman! Don’t you understand what I’m saying? I don’t know if she’s coming or not. The important thing is, you’ll never leave my side. Luna, what ?!”

I could not speak. he sighed and hugged me tightly. I could hear the rapid throbbing of his heart. “How fast does it beat while I’m holding you?”

My tears almost dripped. I hugged him tightly. I stressed myself to him. I can not talk.

“Cat got your tongue?”

“So fast,” I said. “It was so fast, Dylan.”

“Call me ‘D’.”

“D.”

“I missed you.” He kissed me on the cheek down to my neck. “Let’s go out. Maybe that’s where it’ll end up.”

He moved away from me and attempted to open the door when I stopped him.

“Wait.”

His forehead furrowed. “Why? Is there still a problem? I’ll just change your phone.”

I need to ask him “I-In case Camille comes back and make you choose between the two of us. W-Who will you choose?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” He says it seriously.

Huh?

“Uhh, N-no.” Is there no direct answer to my question?

“Not my problem. Let’s go, baby.”
