Brielle stared at the meds in a daze, while the bodyguard kept rummaging around. But aside from the obvious items, there didn't seem to be any hidden secrets in the room. It looked just like a storage space. "This is insane! Is this Kenzo's room?!" Dustin blurted, knowing Kenzo's feelings for his sister and assuming it was his place.

After muttering a few curses, he wanted to comfort Brielle. Anyone would feel weirded out by this.

"It's not his, bro. This is Myles's place, King's double," Brielle corrected.

Dustin squinted and kicked aside some clothes on the floor. A fleeting thought crossed Brielle's mind, but she couldn't pin it down.

"Bro, let's not mess with any of this stuff. Just move it all to my place. Maybe I can replace some clues."

As Dustin crouched down, brushing aside a piece of clothing, he found more medication. But this wasn't the usual folic acid; it was for terminating pregnancies, including Mifepristone.

This pack had clearly been tampered with, but not much had been used. Dustin found it strange. If everything in the room was related to Brielle, and these were abortion pills, when had Brielle taken them? A fierce look crossed his eyes. "Did that bastard Max make you take these?" he demanded.

Brielle quickly jumped in to clear it up. "No, he never made me take anything."

Even when they found out the baby couldn't survive, Max's grief was just as intense as hers. Her memory was clear; she remembered not taking such medication. They were so desperate to save the baby back then, taking these pills was out of the question. Could it be that this place held not only her stuff but someone else's, too?

"Bro, just pack everything up and take it to my place for now."

Seeing no further leads, Dustin had no choice but to follow her instructions.

Back in the car, Brielle's mind was still a mess. She forced her eyes shut, but that fleeting insight kept flickering in her brain.

Her run-ins with Myles had always

nět

been brief, and she couldn't tell whether it had been Myles or King she sawn Beaconsfield. Even counting their first meeting at the casino, their total conversation hadn't lasted more than an hour.

Then there was the kidnapping to the manor, which was clearly King's doing since Max had somehow appeared out of nowhere to rescue her from the fire. This meant King had been at the manor, simply overpowered by Max in terms of body control.

Other than the kidnapping, her contact with "King" was minimal. Myles, being a top hypnotist, couldn't possibly have those feelings for her.

Where did it all go wrong?

Brielle couldn't figure it out, feeling that the key to everything still lay with King. But the current predicament didn't just involve King; the butler at the Lynch mansion was another puzzle.

Were the butler's backers in league with King? What exactly was the butler planning? She had to get to the bottom of all this.

Back at the villa, the bodyguards worked quickly, soon having everything neatly laid out in the living room. Brielle's sharp memory kicked in. She could recall when she'd last touched some of the items just by seeing them.

For instance, the cup in her hand was from a dinner with Kenzo. The rest were from cafes around Dorsey Tower.

Her gaze settled on a stack of

papers - her first draft of a

senior-year thesis. Her major

required a ton of writing, and from freshman to senior year, she had to churn out several pieces each week. If Myles had indeed been coffecting deliberately, he would've taken her freshman and junior years' work too.

But he had only taken her senior year's. Brielle had gone abroad for an exchange in her junior year and had started prepping her thesis upon returning. Brielle was too sharp. A quick scan of everything revealed a clue. Most items collected by Myles were from after her exchange year, with very little from before.

This suggested to Brielle that the days following her exchange year held special significance for Myles, or rather, marked the time when he started paying attention to her.

Of course, this was just one of Brielle's theories, and she wasn't entirely sure. The scene had been tampered with by Kenzo, who might have removed some freshman to junior year items, potentially skewing the truth.
