She thought she had him all figured out, so she made a bold request.

"Let's get this over with in one go," she said, longing to return to her normal life.

No sooner had the words left her lips than he tossed aside his mask, grabbed her, and threw her onto the bed.

"All at once?" His voice was cold. "Seems I've been too gentle with you."

Terrified, Brielle scrambled to the far side of the bed, but his grip on her ankle was firm, leaving her unable to move.

It was then she realized the violent streak hidden beneath his charming facade. Unreasonable. Terrifying.

Sensing her fear, King softened his demeanor and pressed a kiss to her lips. "Stay close to me, Little Canary."

Brielle remained silent, passively accepting everything he imposed on her. He did whatever he pleased, showering her with gifts that felt more like shackles. If she refused, his temper exploded.

Diamonds, jewelry, designer handbags-every morning, she woke to replace them piled around her. True to his word, he was keeping her like a caged bird. But none of it made her happy; it wasn't what she wanted. New faces arrived at the castle, and cries echoed through the hallways. From upstairs, Brielle overheard his command. "Make it clean."

He meticulously wiped his fingertips with a handkerchief, as if avoiding contamination. Outside, the mournful wails and muffled gunshots filled the air. He wanted her to witness the consequences of disobedience firsthand.

He noticed her watching from the balcony and casually tossed his handkerchief aside. A bodyguard dutifully picked it up and left the room. He beckoned her, like calling a pet.

Reluctantly, Brielle descended the stairs. As she approached, he pulled her into his arms. Instinctively, she wanted to resist, but the memory of those men stopped her cold.

Satisfied, he held her tighter, lifting her hand to scrutinize it. "Soft and delicate. Don't be like the others."

His tone was so casual, as if the lost lives meant nothing to him.

Back home, Brielle had been

focused on her studies, eager for her parents' approval. Abroad, she

aimed to impress her professors and secure a position at Dorsey International, where competition was fierce and only the best vy League graduates were admitted.

But now, with the CEO of Dorsey International himself towering over her with a starkly different demeanor, her dreams shattered. She longed to be as far away from him as possible.

"A good student, scared stiff?" He loved calling her that, and "Little Canary both names dripping with mockery, making her skin crawl. But silence would only lead to harsher punishment.

She regretted asking about his well-being that night. Had she known it would lead to this, she would have kept her distance.

But it was undeniable; he had a way with women. Others might have succumbed to his looks and lavish

gifts, seeing nothing wrong shi

being with him. After all, isn't life

about improving your

circumstances?

To many, Max was a ladder to the heavens, an opportunity beyond mere hard work. Yet, Brielle was terrified of him, a powerful madman.

"Those men earlier, they disobeyed. Their heads were the first to go. Don't follow their example."

Sensing her fear, he pulled her closer, smugly satisfied. "As long as you obey, I'll give you anything you want."
