For some reason, a brief sting pierced her heart.

She looked up at the man in front of her, unable to catch what was being said on the other end of the line, but he agreed to it.

King ended the call and stood up, avoiding her gaze.

"Brielle, I need to step out for a bit."

"To see my brother?"

"Yeah."

"I'm coming with you."

"No, that's not necessary."

Brielle stayed silent. King was usually glued to her side, almost as if he wished he could tuck her into his pocket whenever he left the house. So, his reluctance to bring her along clearly hinted at trouble. "Alright, just... come back soon, okay?"

Hearing this, King felt a wave of emotion. He planted a kiss on her left cheek, then another on her right.

"I will."

At the door, he couldn't help but blurt out, "I'm really going now. Make sure you eat on time while I'm gone."

Although slightly irritated, Brielle's lips curved into a smile at his words. "Okay."

King hurried downstairs, eager to meet Dustin at the agreed spot.

Meanwhile, Brielle, left behind, set aside the grapes she'd been holding and got up, intending to follow him. She texted Dustin.

Where are you guys meeting?

Without waiting for a reply, Brielle changed her outfit and slowly made her way to the door.

Bro, if this involves another woman, don't bother sending me the address. But if it's about me, I have a right to know. You wouldn't keep this from me alongside him, right? Minutes later, she received an address. Clearly, this matter concerned her.

But what could it be that changed King's demeanor so suddenly?

As Brielle opened the living room door, ready to leave, a small hand tugged at the hem of her dress. She looked down to see Isaac staring up at her, wanting to go outside too. Isaac, the introverted child, only really interacted with King and Noir, paying little attention to her otherwise.

And he rarely asked to go outside, so Brielle couldn't refuse, especially since he shared Max's unmistakable features.

And surprisingly, Isaac even held out his hand to her.

"If you really want to come, then let's go together. But it's crowded out there, so don't let go of my hand, okay?" Isaac nodded, calling out, "Noir."

Noir emerged from some bushes, shaking off leaves, his muscular body moving gracefully yet obediently following behind. With Isaac and Noir in tow, Brielle took the wheel, ensuring Isaac was securely buckled in the passenger seat.

Isaac, unaccustomed to being this close to a woman he didn't know well, shifted uncomfortably.

He had seized this moment to push her away from his father, planning to act when the opportunity arose.

Brielle, having secured Isaac, drove off towards the address Dustin had sent. It was quite a distance, as Brielle's current residence was a castle, not in the city center, but the address was.

As they drove, several cars followed, all tasked with protecting Isaac.

Upon reaching a wide street, Brielle noticed several cars suddenly approaching from another direction through her mirror. Instinctively trying to avoid them, she realized they weren't after her but the bodyguards.

The cars collided, erupting into flames.

Gripping the steering wheel tightly, Brielle's face hardened.

"Hold tight, little cricket."

Isaac, though small, understood the gravity of their situation as cars pursued them, intent on their demise, deploying significant force.

The convoy protecting Isaac included top-notch snipers, but now, engulfed in flames, it was clear those inside hadn't survived.

Their attackers, undeterred by the

presence of civilians, had dispatched

at least ten vehicles. They were

determined to capture them,

regardless of the consequences, even risking a royal manhunt

Both Brielle and Isaac realized the stakes, their expressions turning cold.
