Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 928
If that's the deal, we need to be really careful with this deep hypnosis session. Going through deep hypnosis twice could do more than just mess up someone's mind; it could be a total disaster.
Sitting across from Ramey, Brielle had no clue about the change in his expression. To her, the other guy in the photo was just some random stranger. She didn't remember him and had no intention of digging into someone else's secrets, so she kept quiet. Ramey switched the conversation to a movie, sparking Brielle's interest. A smile lit up her eyes.
Ramey knew she was in a good mood. Finding an excuse, he quickly went upstairs to share his discovery with Max.
Max was in the middle of a meeting, but seeing Ramey come up, he knew it had to be about Brielle and immediately paused the meeting.
Ramey spilled the beans about his cousin and couldn't help but warn Max.
"Mr. Dorsey, if Ms. Brielle was indeed my cousin's patient but doesn't remember him, then what she went through wasn't just regular therapy. It was likely deep hypnosis. If that's the case, another session could be really harmful. I hope you can dig up everything about Ms. Brielle's first hypnosis session. The more we know, the better we can handle the second one, and minimize any harm to her."
Max's face turned serious in an instant, and he stood up, his expression darkening with concern.
"You think she's been under deep hypnosis before?"
"Yes, it's just a guess, no hard proof. I've never met Ms. Brielle before; this is just based on what I know about my cousin. And he's tight-lipped. Even under threat, he wouldn't spill any details about his clients. So don't bother trying to get anything out of him. What I told you is all he'd ever reveal."
Max strode out of the room and, upon reaching the ground floor, saw Brielle smiling at her computer screen. She stood up happily when she saw him coming down.
"Max," she called out, moving closer. "Are you done with your work? Where are you headed?"
It wasn't surprising she asked; Max had been stuck in meetings for days without stepping outside. Meanwhile, Patrick had been running around like he had a million things to do. So seeing Max about to leave was definitely unexpected.
Max paused, opening his arms to pull her into a hug as she approached. Brielle, perhaps unconsciously, leaned more into him.
But Ramey's concerns needed addressing. Max couldn't risk Brielle undergoing deep hypnosis without knowing more. He calmed himself and led Brielle back to the sofa.
"The first movie was a hit, congrats!" he said.
Brielle's eyes sparkled, and her lips curled into a smile. "I never expected the box office to soar like this.. Stellar Stage Entertainment is the talk of the town. We're already planning the next film."
She shared her excitement with Max, her hand instinctively resting on her belly.
"By the time this baby is born, maybe all the talent at Stellar Stage Entertainment will be stars. This little one truly is my good luck charm."
"Brielle," Max said gently, ruffling her hair. "You know, there are other ways to prevent pregnancy, like vasectomies and IUDs. Maybe I should have gotten a vasectomy."
He'd never let Brielle use an IUD; it
wasn't 100% effective, and the constant irritation in the uterus wasn't good for a woman's health. He'd done his homework and knew that an IUD could rust over time, causing pain.
Given the choice, Max would take on the burden himself. But he mentioned this now to gauge Brielle's awareness of her own body.
Brielle was strong but also vulnerable. Max wasn't sure how to handle this, afraid any wrong move could hurt her. Yet, he also feared that hiding the truth now would lead to resentment later.
"Max, about the pregnancy, I don't
blame you. We don't need those procedures.. I like you, and having baby is natural. I never thought about pregnancy before, but if the
child's father is you, I'm willing. This
baby isn't a burden; its arrival
actually brings me joy."
It was the first time she openly declared her affection for him and her desire to have their child. Brielle, who had once boldly flirted with him, was actually quite reserved at heart.
Max's heart softened, and he was sure she had no idea about the past procedures on her body. Ramey's suspicion might well be true; Brielle could have undergone deep hypnosis before.
