Aria's POV

As I ran from the clearing and into the woods I could hear my heartpounding in my chest, my feet hitting the ground but all I could thinkwas I had to get away I had to run!

As I came into the field behind the school, I ran towards the road andpushed my legs harder and harder until I was out of breath and leftpanting as I put my hands on my knees, and tried to suck in as muchbreath as I could into my lungs to soothe the burning feeling in them.

I looked up and realised I had run to the park between my house andAriel's, I spotted an empty bench under a huge willow tree and mademy way to it.

I sat there staring out into the empty playground, my thoughts goingback to my conversation with Dragus.

Why did I tell him about Colton? Why did I show him those marks? Thetruth is I didn't know why but I felt like I could trust him. I didn't knowmuch about the twins. I knew their father was the Alpha over Azira andthey were next in line to take over that role, but we had never reallyspoken so I didn't know much about them as people.

As I continued sitting there staring out, I started to think what lifewould be like if Colton wasn't my brother, Lucien wasn't my father. What if I could leave them all behind and start my own life and be freeto be happy.

I was so lost in my thoughts I hadn't realised Ariel had sat next to me,she sat there in silence looking out to the playground, she rested herhand on mine and squeezed it slightly before turning to me.

As I looked at her I saw the handprint on the side of her face, my eyesteared up knowing who had done it to her.

"I'm so sorry Ariel" I sobbed as I pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. Isobbed into her hair as we just embraced each other. She rubbedsoothing circles on my back, whispering to me that it wasn't my faultand that she didn't blame me for what Colton did.

After what seemed like forever we finally pulled apart. I wiped my eyeswith my hand and looked back at Ariel.

"I can't stay here Ariel, I can't take it anymore," I said, holding back thetears that threatened to fall from my eyes.

Ariel looked at me and I could see the sadness swarming in her eyesbefore she nodded her head.

"I understand I will miss you so much, but wherever you go justremember I am always with you, no matter what I love you Aria" shesobbed but she knew I had to do this.

I pulled her into another hug before we both slowly got up from thebench and headed back to the park entrance.

Once we were there, Ariel turned to me,

"I won't tell anyone you're leaving just make sure to call me when youget somewhere safe ok” I nodded my head as my throat dried up andmy words refused to come out.

We hugged one more time before I turned and headed to my house. Iknew my dad wouldn't be home yet so I rushed down the pavementuntil I got to our house. I flung the front door open and rushed upstairsto my room and started shoving things into my bag as fast as I could.Once I was done, I did up my bag and took one last look at my roombefore I turned and closed the door. I rushed down the stairs and to thefront door. I couldn't believe I was doing this but I needed to leave. Ineeded to be happy. I took one final look at our house before I headeddown the pavement towards town and my new life.

Once I made it into town I headed towards the station, I looked at theboard trying to decide where to go. I decided to head south as it wouldbe warmer, I would have to replace myself a job once I got there. I onlyhad a few hundred pounds to my name, but I would make it work. Thiswas the beginning of a much happier life for me and I would make sureI did everything I could to make it work.

I purchased my ticket and headed towards the train. Once I wasonboard I found a seat and put my bag between my legs on the floor. Itook my headphones out of my bag and put them in.

Not long after the train started to pull out of the station and I couldn'thelp but let out a sigh of relief, but I also worried about Ariel, and whatColton would do once he found out I left.

I couldn't think like that Ariel was tuff and I'm sure she could deal withColton and Cindy but I would miss her. I made sure to remind myself tocall her once I was settled.

After a few hours on the train we finally reached my stop. I took myheadphones out and gathered my bag from the floor. I made my wayto the exit of the train. Once I stepped out from the train the lights ofthe station shone so brightly. I looked up and smiled at the sign thatsaid Welcome to Arcadia.......
