"Hey Bff"

"Good morning Katelyn."

I hugged her back. Her hug was tight and she appeared happy. Well, at least one of us slept well. I sighed. I was trying so hard not to remember that in three days time, I'd be expected to show myself to the public. "How are you?"

"I'm fine. I don't need to ask you, you obviously are very happy this morning."

"Of course, I had a beautiful night's rest and also, I can not wait to show off my wolf. She is so beautiful."

At my lack of enthusiasm and happiness, she frowned slightly.

"What's wrong? You had a bad dream last night?"

"No. But I had a shitty night."

"Are you serious? Tell me about it, bff."

I did not want to tell her to slow down with the friendship thing, so I don't hurt her feelings. But I felt she was rushing things between us. I knew she was sorry and she had apologized but bff? That was a title that should be deserved and we were just getting to know each other. Well, whatever she wanted. I was not even in the mood to be bothered by things like that.

"Nothing. Just could not sleep."

No matter what, I was not going to tell her. Knowing I had a bad night was enough.

"What was it about? Did you experience something bad last night?"

"I don't know. My mood was just off since last night. I thought I'd be better by the time I woke up this morning, but unfortunately, I still feel like the dumpster."

"No, don't talk about yourself like that."

She gently pulled me to a seat in our class. I had not stayed with the boys after we arrived school this morning. Zach, Trenton and Aaron had lectures the same time. Me and Lucas don't have until later. Lucas had gone to be with his friends. The five of us promised to meet up at lunch. I decided to come have a quiet time in the class, I had not known I'd meet Katelyn. And she was too chirpy for me to deal with this morning. I wanted her to leave me alone but the considerate person in me could not have the heart to ask her to leave me.

"So tell me, what's wrong?"

"Nothing. I think I'll be better by noon."

"Alright."

I looked around her and saw she was the only person in class.

"What are you looking for? Or rather who are you searching for?"

"What about your friends? The three of them. I just noticed I no longer see you guys together."

"Well, they said they could not stand talking to you. So they made me choose between being your friend and theirs."

"You chose me over your friends? People you've known for a long time?"

"They did not have to give me that ultimatum in the first place."

She shrugged, her expression showing she did not care.

"Hm."

"What?"

"I don't know, Katelyn. I mean, I replace it hard to believe that you would choose me over your long time friends?" "Well, they wanted to go. You're making me feel bad and why are you blaming me? They made me choose." "I'm sorry. I'm not blaming you."

"Yes, you are."

"I did not mean it like that. I'm sorry."

Her cheerful smile was back. "It's okay. Friends don't keep grudges, right?"

"Right."

I smiled at her.

"So are you feeling better already?"

"I'm trying. Are you the only person in class?"

"Yes."

"You're early."

"You make that sound so unbelievable."

"Well, I have never seen you come this early."

"I'm just the first person to come to class. Some of our mates are outside." "Oh."

"You did not see them?"

"Nope, I did not."

"You know some people are, especially students. They come early to school, they just keep walking around the campus aimlessly and won't come to class until it's time. Some even delay few minutes so they can come in when the lecturer is already here."

"People are different."

"Some are weird different though, you'd agree on that with me."

"You may be right. Some persons can be weird different."

"You know I really like Aaron."

Her expression was somber now.

"Uhm, yes I know."

Where was she going with this? I was not ready for any warning nor willing to receive another threat over a guy who was my stepbrother. We had absolutely nothing intimate going on. But you guys stare at each other a lot, how more intimate can you both get? I silenced the voice that had spoken and tamped my guilt. I had done nothing wrong. I knew Aaron and Katelyn belonged with each other and I was not about to destroy that. A gaze here or there, meant nothing. "How do you think I should make him notice me? I mean, I want him to look at me the way he looks at you." "What?"

"You know what I'm talking about."

"No, I do not. What are you talking about? Aaron is my stepbrother. There's no special attachment or intimate strings between us. I have equal affection for all of the Salvatore boys. None is greater than." "Aaron is a nice guy."

"Yeah, you could say that."

I agreed.

"And he's so matured. I mean the way he handles issues without the use of violence but you know there's still this fire that burns within. One that is barely controlled and if you ventured further, you might be burned." "Uhmm..."

Imagining Aaron in my head and combining the picture of him Katelyn had just created was just too intense to ignore. I did not know why I was deeply affected even when he was not even here. He was not locking eyes with me, neither was he present to casually touch me as he does sometimes but he was suddenly everywhere in my head.

"You get the point now, right?"

I swallowed. "I guess I do."

"Exactly. That is just what I want in a man. He has Alpha blood in him, and I really love him."

"Oh."

I did not know what to make of that confession.

"Have you told him yet?"

"He had to be the one to tell me. You should understand."

"Of course, I do. A man should woo a woman, not the other way round."

"You get it, bff."

"So what do you intend to do?"

Her eyes got teary and angry.

"I'll do everything within my power to have him. I know he loves me too, but some distraction is threatening to take him away."

"What distraction?"

The girl looked craze and obsessed.

"How do you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Make him look at you that way."

"He doesn't look at me anyway."

"You're sure?"

"Yes."

She sighed. "Okay."

She held my hand and squeezed gently, a benign smile spreading her lips.

"I believe you."
