I walked through the doors of the school and I could literally feel the excited zing in the air. I could swear I even heard the happy howls of their wolves in their heads. Everyone was happy, they were ready for the Wolf It event. Everyone was eagerly anticipating. Everyone except me. I was walking now, Baron didn't need to carry me. He'd been able to make his dad and my mom believe I was getting better, though he'd lifted me a little from the house and into the car. After that incident yesterday, I'd decided to avoid the boys more. I had decided not let them get to me anymore, though I knew it was not going to be an easy feat but I was willing to try.

"You'll be fine." Baron whispered in my ear.

I was far from fine. I felt like disappearing and reappearing after the Wolf It event was done and gone. My hands quivered in fear, I was literally shaking. The whole school was going to know, and they would have more reasons to laugh at me. They were going to have more reasons to mock and taunt me.

Oh my goodness, what was I going to do? Baron held my wrist and pulled me into my lecture hall. No one was there yet, thankfully. He took me to my seat and we sat there.

"So what's your fear? You seem quite nervous." He observed, watching me from beneath his lashes.

"Nothing." I tried to wave it away with a phony smile that was stretching my face uncomfortably.

"It's not nothing. The pack where you came from, have you ever indulged in things like this?" He asked, his expression was quite curious.

I swallowed and licked my lips. "No." I lied.

How could I tell him the truth? That would be opening other truths I was not ready to talk about. Lying was the best option, only I just hope he didn't see through my façade. "Are you sure? Because I think this is a common thing for werewolves."

"Not in all schools, no I don't think." And for that, I was right. There was a pack next to my old one that I knew was not practicing such an event. Momentarily, I wished mom had found her mate in that pack. I sighed, stop being selfish Katherina. Mom's happy and satisfied here.

"Maybe you're right." He said, then beamed encouragingly at me. He clasped my hands in his and he drew me close, hugging me tight.

I felt the reassurance in the warm hug. He was, in more than words, telling me I would be fine. I let myself get soaked in his comfort, encouragement and reassurance. I hugged him back.

"Thank you for accompanying me, Aaron." Baron and I turned our heads, our arms still around each other, to see Katelyn placing a peck on Aaron's cheek, while the Aaron stared...no, glared at us like he'd caught us doing something he was not happy about.

Baron drew me closer and kissed my hair. "Just be strong, okay?"

I tore my eyes away from Aaron's and focused on Baron, I smiled in appreciation. "Yes, I'll try. Although I have you leading me."

He chuckled. Not knowing what had gotten over me, I leaned in and placed a kiss on Baron's cheek, fully aware that his twin brother was just standing outside the corridor, watching.

Baron's eyes held surprise, he had certainly not expected me to kiss him back. I shrugged. "You deserve a kiss too for always being there." For my next statement, I raised my voice a bit so Aaron and Katelyn could hear. "Believing in me when others didn't. I'm glad you came in at the right time." For further show, I hugged Baron. Though I was trying to make it look like it was a show, I really cared about Baron and appreciated his efforts.

I heard a growl, it was coming from Aaron but I paid no mind. "See you at the Wolf It event soon." I heard Katelyn tell him.

Out of the corner of my eye, I knew he was not paying attention to what Katelyn was telling him, his full gaze was on Baron and I.

At the mention of the Wolf It event, my spirit dampened again but I did not let them know. Then Baron whispered in my ear. "Did you talk to your maid?"

He leaned back and wiggled his brows. I got his move and shook my head. I leaned in too to whisper in his ear. "You're wicked."

He let out a booming laugh. I could still see them from the corner of my eyes, Katelyn was vying for his attention but she was unlucky there. She tried to cling to him but I noticed him pry her off of him quite roughly and stormed out of there. Katelyn stood there looking like a lost fool, her eyes on us. Jealousy and anger oozed off of her in astonishing waves. I somehow knew that if not for Baron's presence, she would be here bullying and taunting me. But she would not dare do that. She was scared of him, and she also knew she was already in his black book.

She later left the class, and it was just Baron and I. There were no classes today because of the event. Baron had somehow made me forget about the event.

It was a long while later when I heard the voice over the intercom. "Everyone on the field now. It's time for the Wolf It even. Come and show us your prowess as a werewolf, it doesn't matter whether you possess an Alpha wolf, a Beta wolf, a Delta wolf or even an Omega wolf. Every wolf was created specially by our most revered Moon Goddess. We just need to appreciate what makes us who we are. No one is allowed to remain in the lecture halls. Every student of Stone Shadow academy must participate in this event."

And my heart shifted from its natural position, landing heavily into my stomach, as Baron pulled me out of the hall and towards the field.
