Mated To The Twin Alpha Heirs -
Alliance
MELISSA
Ever since Katherina came into the house of Alpha David after our beloved Alpha had been yet again blessed by the Moon Goddess with a second mate - Katherina's mother. When the news had reached our ears, I'd been one of the happy ones, and we were many that were happy for him.
We had all anticipated the arrival of our new Luna and her daughter with bated breaths. No one knew what to expect from either of them, especially the Luna who would be the closest to the Alpha. The mother of the boys, the past Luna had been kind and wonderful. So we did not know what to expect from this new one.
But one glimpse of her that night and I knew she was going to be as wonderful as the first had been, and kind too. When I'd seen the daughter, I had seen kindness too, but she literally had low self-esteem stationed around her neck, and I disliked it. I had been taught to never let anyone walk on me. Show respect, even a little fear to those who deserve it but still keep your spine. Katherina had the looks of pathetic. I was disappointed when I was assigned to wait on her. I did not hate her, just what she had made herself believe she was.
Still, I kind of wanted to look out for her. I could not be friends with her until she had learned to be strong for herself. Sometimes, I want to tell her but who would listen to a maid. And I know how badly she wanted to get to know me or make me like her better, but not when she was weak and letting everyone step on her.
The day she had come running into the house with a tear-stained face and ink-stained shirt, I knew she had been bullied. I know she thought no one had seen her but I had, and I was glad no one else had, if not the Alpha and the Luna would have heard of it through the long vines of gossips in the mansion.
When she had gone out, I had to sneak in and saw that the clothes were not in her room and when I'd finally found it, it was in a hidden corner in her bathroom which meant she didn't want anyone, not even me to see it and I'd taken it. All these while, I'd been wondering what to do with the clothes. They were enough evidence that she'd been bullied and while it made me want to fight back whoever was behind it, I had to keep my cool as to not arouse any suspicions. But I'd carefully monitored and I'd realized who was behind it. Katelyn. The same person who was responsible for the bad blood between Aaron and his twin brother. I never liked her. She used to visit the mansion a lot but she stopped after Baron left.
Just as I'd known it was Katelyn who was behind the theft incident that had everyone seeing Katherina as the culprit. I just needed evidence to get that girl. Mere words would not be enough to pin her wicked self down.
And there was someone I could use his authority to get to it. The boys were not on talking terms with Katherina but I was glad she had Baron come into the picture just at the right time. And he was the one person I was going to need his help. I'd written a note and slipped it through his door, hoping he'd come see me. I was waiting for him where no one would think of replaceing us easily. And for Katherina's sake, I hope he came. We were her only hope of clearing her name. "Melissa?" I heard the deep voice call in the dark.
It was him, I bowed immediately. "Good evening, Your Highness."
"Good evening, Melissa. What is this all about? Dropping a note in my room. I only came because your letter sounded urgent." He said, appearing from the shadows.
"Yes, Your Highness. It's about Katherina." I informed him politely.
"Yes, so you implied in your note which is what brought me out. What is it?" He stared expectantly, waiting for me to speak.
"I need your help, Your Highness." I told him, meeting his gaze not as a challenge or pointedly, but respectfully.
"How?"
"Katherina. I need you to use your authority to gain entrance into the campus, and help clear out her name on the theft issue." There was enough light for me to see the lines and contours of his face. He didn't seem angry. More like curious and impatient.
He stared at me for awhile. "Was that why you took her clothes?"
How did he know that? Was he the person I'd seen in the shadows that night? "No. I took them before the phone incident."
"How did you even know about that?" He asked, certainly surprised I knew.
"I hear things, Your Highness."
"You mean you eavesdrop on people's conversations."
I sighed. "I'm sorry, Your Highness but Katherina is weak, I'm just trying to look out for her."
"Then why do you behave rude to her face. I've seen how you interact with her."
"I like her but not who she allowed herself to be."
He seemed to ponder on this for awhile, then nodded. "What do you want?"
"I just need to replace a way to get a concrete evidence against Katelyn."
"How do you know it's her?"
"Same way I know she's responsible for bullying Katherina, including pouring ink on her."
"Why did you take those clothes?"
"I wanted to use it as evidence but then I realized it was not enough. Katelyn could deny it, and I'll end up in trouble and Katherina would be bullied even more."
"Hm. I already have plans to help Katherina replace the truth. She already knows you took the clothes, but don't broach the subject to her, understood?"
"Yes, Your Highness."
"Now, go back to your room. We'll talk extensively on this at a better time."
"Thank you, Your Highness." I was grateful. I proceeded out of that place. "Melissa?"
I turned. "Yes, Your Highness."
"You're a good maid, just try to be a better friend to her."
With a small smile, I nodded. "Yes, Your Highness."
