KATELYN

"So our beloved Katherina does not have a wolf, huh?" I could not believe it. She was the first wolf-less girl I'd ever encountered.

And Aaron was choosing her over me, that brat. That stupid, weak ugly thing that had no right to stand with me. She was trying to compete with me. To fight over Aaron with me. All these years, I'd known Aaron and I had taken great risks for him that he did not even know about. Those were my little secrets. And he would never know. I was proving to him and myself that I could be a Luna.

A Luna could be everything she wanted to be. After the Alpha, was the Luna. Aaron was my childhood friend, while his brothers had never really liked me, Aaron had stood by me and that had made me like him. Baron was the worst, he hated me so much then. I used to wish he would like me but no more, I no longer cared if he liked me or not. Moreover, he was out of the picture.

Though I wondered why he would return after these years in self exile. I had no issues when he had left the pack with the promise never to return, it meant no more bullying me or trying to always fight his twin brother, and the others respectively. He was like the black sheep of his family. The Salvatore family. The wealthiest werewolf family ever. Imagine being the Luna of that family. Being a part of such power and authority. Merely imagining was intoxicating as hell. I had done everything to make sure I keep Aaron by my side and while that had been tough growing up, I still managed to. If only Aaron would see the things I was doing just to have him like me that way, he would not hesitate to come to me. I was good enough to be a Luna. I have always learned that a Luna stood up for her Alpha, protected and defended him when he was unable to and that was all I'd ever done. Anyone who made Aaron angry was sure to get it from me, even if they were his blood.

"I can not believe it myself." One of two my friends, Heather said. Well, they were my minions, since I send them to do my dirty jobs but they were also friends, sort of. I also talk to them about any decision I made.

"Me neither. Does the Alpha even know of this?" The second one, Callie put in.

"I wonder how she was able to bypass the initiation ceremony." Heather reasoned.

"True." I wondered that too. Everyone knew that the only way to join the Salvatore family was through the Salvatore initiation ceremony to confirm if the new member had a wolf. How had Katherina joined the family? If Aaron had not told me of the initiation ceremony, I might have thought they made an exception for her and her mother, even the Beta who was my cousin had also told me of the initiation ceremony.

"Maybe she's a witch." Callie suggested, looking at both our faces.

"Are you serious right now Callie?" Heather eyed her in slight annoyance.

Callie tended to be the dull one amongst us, and it was not helping matters that she was a blonde. That was giving blondes the crazy stereotype that she was dumb. Not all blondes were dumb though, I'd met blondes that were quite smart. "Of course." She shrugged, she turned to me. "What do you think, Katelyn? That's a possibility, right?"

I sighed and walked closer to her. "Witches do not exist, dumbo."

She pouted. "I'm not dumb. You could have just said no, instead of insulting me."

"Did I hurt your feelings?" I mirrored her pouty expression, pretending to feel bad for her.

"Yes, you did." She sniffled.

Another annoying thing about Callie, she was such a cry-baby. I would have gotten rid of her for a long time but she was quite good with carrying out instructions. I was tempted to give her more mena words to swallow but I decided against it. She would sulk and cry until my ears begged to be cut off.

"Okay, fine. Sorry, you're not dumb."

She grinned. "I told you I'm not dumb. Apology accepted."

I shook my head, locked stare with Heather who was struggling not to laugh, she always found Callie's child-like attitude funny while it annoyed me. I used to wonder how such an annoying attitude made her laugh but then again, I had this thought we were different and if it was funny to Heather, it was funny to her.

But she dared not laugh, else that would cause another Callie-tantrum. She would cry over Heather's laughter.

"Are you trying to laugh at me Heather?" Callie eyed Heather.

"Me? Of course not." Heather denied, fighting to keep a straight face.

Callie studied her, then nodded satisfactorily after Heather had successfully swallowed the laugh.

"I need to teach Katherina a lesson." I told them.

"Yes, let's." Callie instantly agreed, bobbing her head. I guess one could see the reason why I still kept her around. Always ready to carry out instructions.

"So how do we go about it?" Heather asked.

"Do you think Alpha David knows of his stepdaughter's wolflessness?" I studied both their faces.

Aaron should be protected from likes of Katherina. A Salvatore should never be seen with a weak werewolf, but worse, it was a grave taboo to be seen with wolf-less person. This girl was hell-bent on bringing shame on the Salvatore's family. First, it was stealing a phone which by the way was a good way of bringing her down.

Now, she had no wolf. My Aaron did not need to associate with persons like her. And if I was going to be the future Luna of Stone Shadow pack, I did not need any wolf-less creature smearing my future family's legacy.

"Oh see, those guys are cute." Callie exclaimed, pointing at two guys who had just entered the school gate and we're advancing towards the field.

"They seem new. I've never seen them before." Heather said.

My gaze zoomed in on them too. Hm. New students at the almost end of the semester? Impossible.
