She opened her mouth to shout at him, but she couldn’t because all she kept thinking about was his words, ‘I couldn’t see you in that state.’

“Still, you shouldn’t have thrown so much water at me.” She spoke in a low tone. “See, I’m all wet.” She added, pointing toward her clothes.

Wylder arched his eyebrow at the sudden change in her tone, but then she was right. He used magic to change her clothes into a comfortable knee-length decent nightdress, in which watching her wouldn’t turn his beast.

“Thank you.” She muttered and looked at the clock. It was two in the morning.

Wylder didn’t miss how she could understand what exactly the time was, or the werewolves staying in the pack had a habit of reading stars or moon to guess the approx time.

“Do you have drugs or pills? I don’t think I can sleep.” She asked in a low tone. She had no idea whether she would ever replace her identity. But one thing was for sure she could never sleep without getting any nightmares.

Her life had been destroyed with this permanent scar on it.

“No. I don’t have.” Wylder replied, shaking his head. “What is troubling you?” He asked softly, maintaining some distance between them because the girl had an anger issue, something that was the ability of the red wolf.

“Why do you care?” Arabella’s tone changed again.

“I don’t.”

“Then drop this act.” She snapped and watched his jaw getting tightening. She waited for him to react to it, but that never happened. Instead, he left the room. She closed her eyes in regret when she realized that she was being rude to him for no reason, or maybe because he lied. He lied about the part that he cared about her. Still, he answered just the opposite to it.

Arabella didn’t stay frozen at her place, and without her knowledge, her legs started running in the same direction from where he had left and kept running until she spotted him. He was taking big steps with his long steps on the stair.

“I’m sorry!!” She apologized, hugging him from his back. Wylder’s body stiffened when she wrapped her hand around his waist. He didn’t notice her coming as he was walking furious, but her touch threw a bucket of cold water at his body, calming her down in an instant.

Something, something that only a mate could do.

He didn’t miss how a couple of people who were there looked at what was happening there as this was the first time he had got caught with a female holding his waist. Most of the pack members also thought that he was gay as he used to spend a lot of time with Zahir and Eliam.

The very instinct that his body always behaved around any female was to push her away for holding him or intervening in his personal space, but he couldn’t do that to her. He just couldn’t.

The last thing that he wanted to regret later for embarrassing her if she turned out to be his second chance mate.

“It’s okay!!” He placed his hand over her.

All of a sudden, Arabella realized her position, and she quickly pulled her hand away from his waist. She saw a couple of eyes on her, but she ignored them as her eyes were on the man who turned around to look into her eyes.

“Then, come on!!” She spoke confidently, holding his hand and taking him back to his room. Everyone kept looking at them until the door of Wylder’s room was finally closed.

“A moment before his Lycan was furious!! So furious that everyone could sense his aura, and no one could dare to reach near him, but she could easily reach near him.”

“Maybe because she doesn’t have a wolf.”

“That can be true.”

“But why did Alpha choose a wolfless omega as a breeder?”

“Only he knows. Anyways, let’s get back to work.”

Wylder heard when he closed the door behind him. Arabella left his hand when they were in the room, but it was when he held it and pulled her toward him, making her head slam against his chest. She lifted her head and looked into his stormy grey eyes.

He leaned toward her, Arabella’s eyes widened, thinking about what was going to happen next, but she didn’t move or push him away.

A part of her wanted to prove something.

But her heart started pounding wildly against her ribcage when he rested his forehead against her and closed his eyes.

‘What is he doing?’ She wondered.

‘Twelve days more!’ Wylder said to Night, who wanted to k**s Arabella. ‘I will meet her at Liara’s party.’

‘And you will run back to her?’ Night growled at him in anger.

‘I won’t. Not now. Trust the process for one last time, please. My sixth sense is telling me that something is off. Something that none of us spotted until now. Just Twelve days more, please, buddy!!’

‘Fine!!’ Night agreed. ‘And to replace the truth, we need to bring her wolf out, which is blocked as per you as you sensed witch spell.’

‘Yeah!’

‘Once her wolf will be out, we will eventually replace out who is behind all this. And also the fact whether she is our second chance or not.’ Night said in determination.

“How long are we going to stand like it?” She asked when she realized that he wasn’t going to k**s her. She felt so disappointed by this fact, but then, she was an ugly duckling in front of a Greek God.

Wylder opened his eyes and let her go. “Do you remember anything from your past?” He asked to start digging the truth from now onwards.

“I guess I do.”

“Who?” He asked hopefully.

“Doctor Stephen Strange.” Wylder’s jaw dropped at her answer. He prayed that she wouldn’t be talking about that person whom he was thinking. “And he can do magic like you.” Hearing this, he really wanted to slam his head against the wall.
