Mommy for Billionaire's Baby -
Chapter 40 c
"Ah, Mama Raptor is just being dramatic."
"You have plenty of excuses too. Makes sense, right? I learned from the right person."
"Seriously, you're talking like that?" Nathan was astonished. "Wow!" He chuckled. "Rosmerry Tasya is quite extraordinary now, huh?"
Tasya wasn't angry or offended. Instead, she got caught up in Nathan's laughter. However, slowly, she started to suppress her laughter, accompanied by Nathan's soft sigh. "Okay, I'll explain in as much detail as possible."
The girl with bangs chose to listen carefully. She absorbed all of Nathan's words, including the relationship between Bonnie and Farhan. Nathan intentionally made himself appear guilty in front of Tasya to provoke Bonnie's actions. The man who was still his boss had also sent one of his trusted men to monitor Bonnie.
After the woman left Faldom, she was trailed and her intentions were investigated, including a letter from the hospital. It came complete with pregnancy test results. It didn't take long for Nathan to figure out what Bonnie wanted. Anger? Definitely. Nathan felt like crushing her immediately, but he didn't want to dirty his hands. He was sure that Bonnie wouldn't come to Faldom just once or twice. It was as if she wanted to confirm that she was indeed pregnant with Nathan's child.
"Is Bonnie really not pregnant?"
"No," Nathan replied straightforwardly. "Tasya, women like Bonnie usually don't want the hassle of a child. Her desire is just for pleasure. Maybe what she said about falling in love with me is true."
"You're really confident, aren't you?" Tasya shook her head in amazement. "Mr. Nathan here has a dangerous level of self-confidence."
"But it's true, you know," Nathan bursts out. "No woman would degrade herself like that if it weren't for love blinding her." Suddenly, Tasya falls silent.
"I'm not blaming a woman who falls in love with a man anymore. But logic still has to be applied, right? Don't let it harm herself or others. It's not funny if it turns out she's conspiring with the clearly wrong side. Just for what? To trap me? To make you stop believing in me?" Nathan continues to rant without paying attention to Tasya's changing demeanor.
"I've laid it all out. I don't want any misunderstandings, especially not making me responsible for what I didn't do. Well... I did something, but not to the extent of getting pregnant, you know."
The girl next to him still refuses to speak about what's bothering her, which eventually makes Nathan turn to her. "Tasya?"
"Huh!" Tasya blinks quickly. "What were you talking about just now?"
"You didn't hear me talking?"
Tasya can't divert her attention. She doesn't know when Nathan started to gaze at her like this, and she can't resist it. Nathan rarely asks questions like he did when he pressed to know all the answers.
"Is there a problem?" Nathan asks, touching the tip of Tasya's bangs. "Can you talk? I'm used to talking to you. Doesn't our closeness make you trust me?"
"It's not like that," Tasya says with a soft sigh. "But what you said does have some truth to it."
"Which part?"
"You said a woman can do anything when she's blinded by love."
"That's true," Nathan doesn't deny his previous statement.
"I'm reminded of Mama, Nathan," Tasya says with her gaze downcast. Her eyes are starting to well up with tears. She's sure that one blink will make those tears stream down her cheeks. "Because of her deep love for Appa, she didn't see anything except him. When she was hurt, her child became the scapegoat."
"That wasn't the direction I was going, Tasya," Nathan deliberately pulls over the car.
This conversation seems to need a lot of space. Nathan takes this opportunity to give a hug to the girl who is still looking down. "Some people misuse love for bad purposes, Tasya. Like Bonnie. If I were gullible, what would happen to you and me?"
Tasya still doesn't want to lift her gaze. But truly, the strokes Nathan gives on her arm make her relax a bit. Tasya rarely brings up her family in conversations with Nathan. Not because she doesn't trust him, but there's a heavy burden in her heart. But now, why is she talking about it? Is it because of Nathan's sweet demeanor? Which clearly shows a change?
Especially the story earlier about Bonnie. Tasya can't deny how annoyed and angry Nathan was with that woman. Tasya herself never expected Bonnie to go to such lengths. But considering Bonnie's track record from the time Tasya knew her, it's not impossible for her to do anything to achieve her goals. Unfortunately, Bonnie's desires involve Nathan. The unfortunate part is that Nathan was with Bonnie for a few nights.
She perfectly planned that trap, didn't she?
"I'm not promising grandiose things about the love I have for you, Tasya. Maybe it's not as grand as your dad's love for Mama Abigail or vice versa," Nathan understands why Tasya still doesn't want to lift her face. "Matching me isn't easy. Giving me a chance, not trivial. Forgiving and erasing my past behavior, not as easy as turning one's hand." He gently strokes the side of Tasya's head.
"Your presence is really precious to my life, Mama Raptor. I won't waste all the acceptance you've given me."
Slowly, Tasya lifts her face. She faces Nathan, who has been waiting for her to make eye contact.
"I don't perfectly love you, Tasya. But I'm bringing my life into your world. Your simple world that I like. One that may not have many colors but is beautiful in its own way. Don't let your parents' experiences make you close off, especially from me, okay?"
He lifts Tasya's chin gently, closing the gap between their gazes ever so slowly.
"I submit... to you, as usual, Tasya."
