Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 62
Chapter 62
Giselle didn’t really want to go out for work with Mickey, as they had already broken up, and it was better to avoid
unnecessary contact.
However, in the same company, their positions required a great deal of collaboration, so sometimes they had to accept the company’s arrangements.
After lunch, Hymes texted her a reminder to take her medication.
Giselle took a photo of the medicine on the table and replied: [I remembered, and I’ll take it right now!]
Hymes responded: [Good.]
Seeing this message, Giselle felt her cars turn warm.
After taking the medication, she hesitated, wondering if she should tell Hymes that she was going out to work with Mickey.
Although they would be going out together, she wouldn’t have any non–work–related contact with Mickey, and everything would remain within the realm of colleagues, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
After some thought, she decided not to tell Hymes, so as not to cause any unnecessary trouble…
When it was time, Mickey and Giselle left the company together, and Mickey couldn’t help but glance at their reflections side by side in the elevator mirror.
Giselle’s
green dress made her skin look translucent and as white as jade.
Her eyes were veiled with a misty haze, making it impossible for anyone not to be captivated by her gaze.
It wasn’t until the elevator door opened with a “ding” that Mickey snapped back to reality and hurriedly stepped out.
His mind was in turmoil.
Giselle knew Mickey was looking at her, but she didn’t even bother to give him a glance.
Mickey was the kind of man who wanted both the warmth of a woman and the power and wealth that came with it. But in this world, there was no such thing as having your cake and eating it too. He could not have it all, could he?
He should take a good look at himself and see if he was capable of having it all!
So Giselle didn’t even bother to engage with him and just started playing with her phone.
Giselle wanted to take a taxi to Pino Capital, but Mickey insisted on driving, so she had to go along with him since he was technically her superior.
As Mickey approached his luxurious million–dollar car, he touched the body of the car with a hint of pride. “You know, your husband should buy a car like this. At least it would give him some face when driving around.”
Seeing Giselle’s cold expression, he quickly added, “Oh, I forgot, your husband can’t afford a car like this.”
Giselle smiled sarcastically. “So did you buy this car yourself? Or did your wealthy girlfriend pay for it?”
Mickey’s face turned dark, unable to replace a retort.
Of course, the car was bought with Jenny’s money.
Mickey had some savings but wasn’t willing to spend it on a car. Moreover, his reason for dating Jenny…
Was to take advantage of her wealthy background.
Chapter 62
When they bought the car, Mickey pretended to want to pay but subtly hinted that he’d rather save the money for a house for himself and Jenny in the future.
This hint touched Jenny, who without hesitation paid the full price for the luxury car and put it under his name.
Having been ruthlessly exposed by Giselle, Mickey’s face darkened as he got into the driver’s seat.
“Let’s go, or we’ll be late for our appointment with Pino Capital if we wait any longer!”
Before getting into the car, Giselle hesitated.
She didn’t really want to sit in the front passenger seat.
Especially considering the custom car sticker Hymes had made for her. Maybe Jenny had made a similar request.
But sitting in the back seemed a bit impolite..
“Mr. Blake, the sun is quite strong in the front seat, and I’m not feeling well. Can I sit in the back?”
Mickey frowned and looked at Giselle a few times before reluctantly agreeing, “Fine, sit in the back.”
Giselle quietly breathed a sigh of relief, sitting in the back would allow her to maintain some distance from Mickey. She didn’t want to have much contact with him at the moment.
The car ride was silent and awkward.
As they approached their destination, Mickey reminded her, “Make sure you behave when we meet the people from Pino Capital.”
“Mr. Blake, you are capable enough. I doubt you need me.”
“Hmph! Of course, you don’t have to do much. Just say a few words when I prompt you.”
Mickey boasted somewhat arrogantly, “It’s all thanks to me that we’re having dinner with the people from Pino Capital. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy to meet with them again“.
Mickey didn’t hear Giselle’s response, and still unsatisfied, he asked, “You married that man just to spite me, didn’t you?”
“Mr. Blake, I don’t want to talk about the past, especially during work hours. I have no intention of discussing personal
matters.”
“You can’t deny it!” Mickey gripped the steering wheel tightly. “It’s because I broke up with you that you wanted to replace someone to get back at me!”
“But your decision was foolish. What’s so great about that man?”
Giselle replied irritably, “Mr. Blake, as I said before, whether he’s good or not, I won’t regret it.”
“You’re beyond help. Don’t come crying back to me later!”
“Don’t worry, even if I do regret it, I won’t come to you for help.”
Their unpleasant conversation ended, and they soon arrived at Pino Capital.
This time, the receptionist didn’t give Mickey any trouble. While contacting the relevant personnel, she glanced at Giselle a
few times.
Giselle responded with a polite nod.
After notifying the staff, the receptionist said, “This young lady is much more polite than the last one.”
Mickey’s face darkened, but he didn’t intend to argue.
He knew that Jenny often unintentionally came across as arrogant. She came from a wealthy family and had been pampered. since childhood, so she was arrogant.
In principle, Mickey should have defended his girlfriend, but he didn’t want to provoke the people at Pino Capital any
further.
Now Mickey had also discovered that the front desks of Pino Capital are more arrogant than the front desks of other companies, and they could not be provoked casually.
He simply explained. “She’s my colleague today.”
The receptionist thought to herself that if the last person had been like Giselle, she could have made them wait for just a couple of hours…
Soon, she said, “Please go to the seventh floor. The investment department will have a manager meet with you.”
Once their figures disappeared behind the turnstiles, the receptionist immediately called the internal line, “Mr. Mint, they have arrived.”
“Okay, let them in. Leave the rest to the investment department.”
“Understood. The receptionist half–jokingly asked, “Last time, we made them wait for a few hours. Is there another way time?”
this
“You don’t need to ask.”
“Alright…” The receptionist sighed sympathetically. “But the woman who came with him today is wearing such a beautiful dress. It’s hard to watch her suffer!”
The receptionist was about to hang up, but Leo immediately stopped her with a serious tone, “What did you say? Who?”
