Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Mickey could sense it in his heart, of course.
Regardless of whether the other party had some intention of tricking them, he had to give it a try.
Otherwise, if this task couldn’t be completed, Kevin would look down on Mickey.
As Mickey was still feeling uneasy and even thought that Giselle had stolen the spotlight, she had already spoken.
“Mr. Woods, Domino Media sincerely hopes to collaborate with Pino Capital.”
Hassan chuckled. “Who doesn’t want a sincere collaboration? I’m quite interested in what you mentioned earlier.”
His tone was more polite than before. “How about this? Next time, we can set a meeting. Both sides prepare the necessary information and have another discussion. However, I think you should take the lead.”
Giselle asked, “Me?”
She was a bit surprised.
Mickey quickly objected. “She’s not in charge of the business, so she shouldn’t be responsible for the partnership!”
“But I think Ms. Ostry is quite capable and can take charge. Hassan said, effectively establishing Giselle’s position as if she was the only one suitable for the task.
Mickey’s face momentarily contorted, and he impulsively questioned, “She’s just a vice president of the talent agency department. She is not skilled in investment partnerships!”
Hassan ignored Mickey, standing firm. I’m more interested in the Internet celebrity model under Ms. Ostry’s management, so if we’re going to talk. Ms. Ostry must be present.”
Giselle was still a bit dazed.
Upon leaving Pino Capital, she suddenly became an important figure related to the fate of Domino Media.
Whether Hassan appreciated her or had other reasons, Giselle couldn’t be sure, but it was apparent that without her, Pino Capital wouldn’t be willing to discuss specifics with Domino Media.
Mickey stood at the door, his expression rapidly changing. “Do you know Mr. Woods?”
“No, it’s my first time meeting him.”
“Then why…”
“I don’t know. Maybe he just thinks the business I manage has more potential for growth.”
“How is that possible?” Mickey couldn’t help but roar, I’m the one leading…”
“Mr. Blake, whether it’s possible or not, the fact is in front of us now.”
Although Giselle was puzzled, she wouldn’t let go of this opportunity.
At least, Hassan’s appreciation had solidified her position in the company, and now it wouldn’t be easy for Jenny to kick her
out.
Mickey was furious. “What are you hiding from me? There’s no way he genuinely appreciates you!”
“Mr. Blake, I see that you’re quite emotional right now. Let’s discuss this back at the company. I won’t ride back with you.”
Giselle turned and walked away.
At the rooftop.
In the CEO’s office, Hymes watched the slender figure of Giselle walk in another direction, while Mickey could only stand there fuming with anger.
A smirk crossed his lips.
Leo, standing behind him, reported the situation. “Mrs. Giles will be in charge of the cooperation from now on. Boss, have you decided to invest in Domino Media?”
Hymes chuckled softly. “Since Gigi is so eager to stay at the company, let’s play along with her.”
Leo couldn’t help but feel sympathy for the two.
After all. Hymes was toying with Domino Media like a cat playing with a mouse, driving them into a corner.
And they were completely clueless about who was behind it, perhaps never knowing even until their last breath.
Giselle decided to take the subway back to the office, leisurely and unhurriedly.
Once on the subway, she noticed a message from Hymes asking her: [How are you feeling? Better?]
[I’m completely fine now!] Giselle responded.
[Good, what do you want to eat tonight?]
Giselle replied with a voice message: [Anything is fine. You decide. I’m easy to please. Whatever you cook, I’ll eat.]
Hymes looked at his phone. His eyes and brows were filled with tender amusement.
He called Giselle the next second.
“Sounds noisy on your end. Are you outside?”
His deep voice made Giselle’s ears redden, and she couldn’t help but sound shy. “Yes, I had to leave the office today. I’m on my way back now…”
Hymes chuckled. “Where did you go?”
“To an investment firm.”
“Did you go alone?”
“Please don’t get mad at me if I told you, okay?”
Giselle nervously explained, “Mr. Rogers arranged it, so I went with Mickey to talk about the collaboration. I stepped in because Jenny was sick.”
Hymes didn’t get angry. Instead, he smiled softly. “It’s okay, I won’t be mad. I know you have to interact with him because of
work.”
Hymes‘ attitude became even gentler, and all jealousy was gone.
Leo was about to leave Hymes‘ office when he heard this. He thought of the man with a cold and murderous aura he had
seen earlier.
People in love were really insincere…
Giselle couldn’t help but smile as well.
Chapter 64
It seemed that from now on, she would need to report her whereabouts to Hymes, but at least, he wouldn’t get angry.
Their relationship was beginning to resemble a typical romantic one, quite different from the marriage of convenience they had agreed upon.
Things were progressing much faster than she had anticipated.
Before getting married, Giselle worried that they would have many disagreements and trouble adjusting to each other’s daily routines.
But her concerns never materialized.
Giselle chatted with Hymes until she left the subway. When she returned to the office, her mood was still great, but the atmosphere in the office was tense.
Mickey had returned earlier and was still in Kevin’s office.
Others saw her and immediately asked, “How did the meeting go today? Was it unpleasant?”
“Why did Mr. Blake look so…”
“Mr. Blake’s expression was scary. Did something happen?”
Giselle squinted and smiled. “Nothing unpleasant happened. Pino Capital has agreed to continue discussing cooperation details with us.”
“So why was Mr. Blake acting that way?”
“Probably because Pino Capital thinks I’m more suitable to handle the collaboration.”
Giselle’s words caused a stir, and everyone’s expressions resembled those of people who had seen a ghost.
At this moment, Kevin heard Giselle coming back and called her into the office.
Mickey stood by with a gloomy face, not saying a word, while Kevin spoke enthusiastically, “As Mr. Woods suggested, you’ll be working on this project from now on.”
Giselle nodded in agreement.
As they left the office, Mickey stared at Giselle with a dark expression, about to speak when suddenly someone said, “Jenny, how come you’re back? Didn’t you take time off?”
As soon as Jenny returned, she stormed up to Giselle, angrily lashing out, “Giselle, you’re disgusting! Are you still trying to get with Mickey?”
