“Strangely, Juan is not at the funeral,” he replied, rewinding the footage a few times.

Andrew added, “His wife’s dead, and he doesn’t even show up. Could the rumors be true? Did he kill her?”

Andrew turned to her and said, “You haven’t heard? Maybe I shouldn’t say more.”

Debra didn’t buy his act. “Didn’t you say that just for me to hear? Why don’t you go ahead and tell me what is going on?”

Andrew leaned back and explained, “When Shelia’s body was found, there was evidence her skull had been pierced by a bullet. Although the rest of her was burned, the cause of death was clear. Think about it. Who could freely enter the Nichols Mansion with a gun? Isn’t Juan the most obvious suspect?”

“Juan would never kill Shelia. That’s absurd,” Debra said firmly, refusing to believe it.

Debra looked up and said dryly, “You’ve certainly thought this through.”

“It’s nothing,” he replied.

Debra narrowed her eyes. “But how did you replace out about Juan’s promise to me? I don’t recall telling you.”
