My Mate Is A Human
Chapter 27

The urge he had to murder him was not normal, he wanted to rip his heart out of his bloody chest and give it to his boys so they wouldn’t have to endure it any longer. He clenched his jaw as his eyes turned bloodshot with rage. The wolves smelled his intentions moving closer to him, they would not allow him to touch their leader.

-I’m sorry to disappoint you Daren, but those thoughts you have of ripping my heart out will not be carried out. You can never murder your own father. Lucian sentenced.

The sun was streaming through the girls’ window, Shery shifted in bed trying to replace comfort and get as far away as possible from the sun that was shining right in her face. She shouted a string of curses as the breeze lifted the curtains even more, giving way to a much stronger light. He gave up, it was impossible to continue with a dream that would never end.

He turned and looked up at the ceiling, it was beautiful varnished wood.

It looked as if they were in a cabin. It was nice. She smiled because she felt happy and safe in that place.

She looked to the left and her sister was still sleeping like a log, she didn’t understand how she was doing it with so much light in the room. She turned her attention back to the ceiling, it gave her peace. She took a deep breath and remembered Ethan’s k**s from the night before, that boy was strange. Well, everyone in that town was. But him, he caused her something different.

Her sister had teased her that she had fallen in love with the boy, but she denied it all. She couldn’t be in love with him, she barely knew him. But she kept insisting. She was a bore. She touched her fingers to her lips, and closed her eyes for a moment to imagine his face as he came up to k**s her. It was so tender and warm, he would have loved to continue that k**s elsewhere.

But instantly he mentally slapped himself, he shouldn’t be wishing for such things. He had to banish such lustful thoughts from his crazy head. The most important thing was to figure out how to make a life for herself and get ahead. And most important of all, how to get the hell out of town so her father and Daren wouldn’t replace them. That was what was important right now, not stupid fantasies of crushes on strange, sexy boys. Sigh, he was a basket case. He had taken over so much of her mind already.

-Thinking about him no! You’re so predictable sister.

-You’re silent.

-End up accepting that you like him, he likes you. And they fell in love, like at first sight. He laughed as he looked at her from his bed.

-You’re just talking nonsense Eve. Shut the hell up.

-I think he’s cute. And after seeing him naked with such an e******n you’ll tell me.

-EVE! What the f**k are you talking about.

-What? You didn’t notice that as soon as he saw you, he got hard. It’s obvious that he likes you, and more. He raised his eyebrow at her.

-You’re crazy! Maybe it was the cold of the mountain.

-Or your warmth. She laughed, covering herself with the blanket, “Stop being so puritanical, sister. He said to her, still under the covers.

-Look who was talking, as if you had a lot of experience in that. I snort.

-I don’t, but at least I read, silly.

-I don’t, but at least I read dumb.

Well yes, she read a lot but I wasn’t aware that she also liked to read about those things. Not that she was a puritan but she wasn’t in the mood for romance. It was crazy to even think about it.

-Well, let’s drop the subject, you know I’m not interested in that right now.

-But I should. Because that boy is on fire for you.

-Oh please! Shut the hell up. She got up from the bed and walked to the bathroom.

-Don’t hate me for telling you the truth. He listened to her from outside.

She was unbearable from time to time… She would stop thinking about Ethan and concentrate on the real problems they had. She showered and left the room refreshed along with her sister. Downstairs voices could be heard, by now Shery recognized each and every one of them. But the only one that made her heart grow fonder was Ethan’s. She didn’t like feeling like this. She didn’t like feeling that way. They went downstairs and made their way to the kitchen where almost everyone was gathered, well, Ethan, Megan, JB, and Mr. Marcus who was sipping his coffee while his daughter served him a plate of food.

-Good morning! said the sisters in unison. They all turned to welcome the girls.

-Hi, why don’t you sit down to eat. Megan said warmly. And so they did.

-Well, young ladies, I’d like to hear your story. Marcus told them once they were seated.

They tensed, they didn’t expect to be questioned right off the bat. But he had every right, it was his house, his rules and they were just guests and strangers to boot.

-Father, I don’t think it’s a good time to…

-It’s not right Ethan, it’s better this way. We’re strangers to you, at least we owe him that much.

-I don’t want you to feel pressured.

-It’s okay! He gave her a smile, looked at Eve who remained silent. It seemed that it would be her turn to tell the whole story.

It was time to do it, no more secrets or mysteries. She only hoped that these people would not reject them because of their horrible past.

-We lived with my father, my mother left us when we were just children. I took care of Eve because my father didn’t pay any attention to us. He was physically and vernally abusive. And it’s because he, well he’s an alcoholic and a drug addict just like our mother. But she died a while ago.

-What did she die of? Marcus asked.

-Well, an overdose. My mother was not very healthy, and she had a very busy life with different men.

That’s when Ethan understood a lot of things and it all fit together perfectly. His life was hard, and just thinking about what he had been through was heartbreaking.

-What about your father? Did he die? asked the eldest of them all.

-No, he’s still alive. He must be looking for us, but we don’t want to go back. He’s a very bad person and he doesn’t treat us well, and that’s not all, he also gave us his boss as payment, he’s crazy, he’s a bully.

-What? Ethan asked angrily.

-Calm down son, why did you come to the mountain?

-Your son rescued me from an attempted rape, serious in my head and I went back to my sister. I thought maybe he could help us.

The man looked at his son who did not take his eyes off the girl, it was clear he was worried about her.

-And this boss of your father’s is looking for them?

-Most likely. He said with tears in his eyes. -Please don’t send us away. I begged him.

-I will do no such thing. Marcus told them, “You will stay at home for now, I thank you not to go out for your sake. He got up from his chair and left.

The girls looked embarrassed at the rest of the people in the kitchen, and to their surprise Megan hugged them both. It was warm and comforting to know that they supported you despite having a life as horrible as theirs.

-We don’t judge them for their past. They can rest easy.

-Thank you very much. Both sisters said, their eyes glazed over and their noses as red as tomatoes.

Megan gave her a sisterly smile, turned to serve their respective breakfasts. She turned her gaze to Ethan, who was looking at her in a very sweet way. As her heart melted inside, she liked this boy. She didn’t deny it.

-It’s going to be all right! the young man told her.

-Of course it will, girls, relax. JB confirmed, putting his arm around his friend’s neck, “Hey Megan, I’m starving, where’s my food?

-DO YOU THINK I’M YOUR SERVANT? shouted the young woman.

-Come on, calm down, I just want to eat, you know how I get.

-I don’t give a damn about your stupid temper.

Shery and Ethan broke away from the staring battle to pay attention to the pair of fools arguing over breakfast, she wondered if it would always be like this. She laughed when she saw Megan hit JB with a pot and he was running around the kitchen like crazy while Ethan was still cooking something delicious in a pan, ignoring the two people who were making a fuss around him.

-They’re crazy! Eve exclaimed, while drinking juice.

-Yes, I think they are.

-They’re in love, that’s what’s going on.

-Eve! I scold her.

-What? I ask innocently.

-Shut up.

-We all listened Shery. Ethan said laughing.

-Too bad, my sister won’t shut her mouth.

-I’m not in love with this idiot, he’s a freeloader. Don’t you have a home to go to?

-The truth is that I don’t. He said, sitting down next to Eve.

-I’ll tell your mother that you’re bothering us.

-Do what you want. He shrugged.

Megan glared at him, she was annoyed, but she could also see something else, what was it? Love? Desire? She was sure that the gleam in his eye wasn’t anger, she was happy that JB was spending more time in that house.

-Well, everything is ready, let’s eat. Ethan said, placing several plates of food on the table.

-You’re a good cook. Shery said with a kind smile.

-Thank you! He winked at her. She instantly turned red and hot.
