My Mate Is An Omega
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 42

Jasper POV

Two weeks.

For two weeks I had been punched, kicked, and clawed daily by the strongest huntress in the clan. She had broken bones I didn't even know I had. She had torn my skin open more times than I could count. The only reason why no new scars covered my body was because of the clan doctor, who would constantly visit the Queen's Chambers in secrecy to tend to my sparring wounds before they could leave permanent marks on my body. Most of the time throughout the past fifteen days, I was either in pain or high on painkillers. Andromeda tried to stop me countless times. Whenever I left the training grounds and she noticed the condition I was in, she would either threaten to lock me inside the room forever, or to murder Kindra. Honestly, trying to calm her down was more exhausting than having Phoenix heal the same wounds over and over again. But in the end, she always respected my wish to fight to become strong enough to protect our kingdom.

The first few training sessions were the worst. I was obviously no match for the undefeated warrior's agility or power, and she wasn't afraid to remind me of that. However, the fact that she would never take it easy on me was exactly what made me improve. Little by little, I went from barely being able to stay standing, to dodging a few punches, to landing a few hits myself - none as precise as my opponent's, but progress is progress. And after two weeks, I had not only improved, but I had also grown tired of being a punching bag.

I was ready to go all out on the woman who had been underestimating me from the moment I set foot in Snow Pelt.

I guess Kindra could sense my determination because this time, she didn't tease me when I entered the arena. In fact, no words were exchanged between us as we immediately started circling each other in a ritual I had gotten familiar with by now. Most of our sparring sessions began with me attacking first - and missing - or her patiently waiting for me to get my guard down so she could land a perfect strike. I had been taking notes to analyze my mistakes, as well as study her strategies, and today I was willing to try a different approach.

If I made the first move, she would use her undeniably superior agility to dodge. If I waited too long, I would eventually leave an opening for her to attack. Considering it would usually take at least thirty seconds for her to come at me, I decided to use most of that time to quite literally warm up and channel my fire powers.

A short moment before I ran out of time, I threw a calculated punch at her. Despite my efforts, I still missed, but only by a few inches. As always, Kindra was fast. When her slit pupils locked on me I already knew what was coming, though her predatory gaze didn't terrify me anymore. Instead of trying and pathetically failing to dodge, I braced myself and prepared to take the hit.

The moment her fist connected with my stomach, she punched the air out of my lungs. I lost my balance as her impressive strength pushed me back, but instead of falling to the ground, I landed on my feet - the most useful cat technique I had been able to learn. Never taking my eyes off her, I placed both hands on the dirt, both for support and to hide the flames building up in my left foot for as long as I could. When I lunged forward in an attempt to land a blazing low kick, Kindra attentively avoided the hit by jumping into the air. Exactly like I had expected.

One of the most important lessons I had learned by living with lynxes was that I would never be able to match their physical strength; I had come to terms with that. The only way I could beat them was by using my brain, which was also hard considering how intelligent they were. Still, I knew I would eventually be capable of outfoxing the oldest huntress, especially due to how proud she was. And when she dodged my kick, not realizing I had no intention of landing a successful attack, she fell right into my trap. She wasn't a fool though. The second I swiftly stood back up, already swinging my arm, her eyes widened as she realized my true intentions. However, still in the air, she couldn't do anything about it. A triumphant growl echoed in my chest as I hit her jaw with an uppercut, sending her flying higher. Before she landed on the floor, I caught her mid air, wrapping my hand around her throat. In the blink of an eye, I was pressing her against the wall. Holding her in place, I drew back my arm, readying myself to punch her face with my flaming fist and get payback for the day she broke my nose.

But the moment I noticed the mix of emotions in her eyes, I hesitated. They were filled with disbelief, anger, confusion, and...a hint of fear. Up until that moment, I was being guided solely by my rage, my desire to prove her wrong, to make her pay for disrespecting me and get revenge for the countless times she beat me up mercilessly. But that faint glisten of fright made me sympathize with her. I remembered what her mate had told me about her, and realization struck me.

She was scared and running from her problems, just like I had once been.

My fist was shaking as a groan of frustration left my lips; as much as I would have loved to hit her, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Looking down, I punched the wall instead, causing a gasp of surprise to escape through her mouth as I intentionally missed. The next second, I released my grasp around her throat and turned my back to her.

A few moments later, her low voice broke the silence. "Why?"

"Why what?" I asked without turning to face her.

"Why didn't you f*****g hit me when you had the chance? You know I would never spare you like that."

I sighed, finally allowing myself to look at her. She kept her strong pose, although I could now see through that thick shell. Taking a deep breath, I pondered on whether I should tell her or not. Eventually, I decided to do it.

"Because I realized we're not that different."

"You're delusional." She scoffed.

"Maybe." I shrugged.

There was silence again, then it was her turn to sigh. "s**t. You might be right, stupid dog."

All I could do was laugh, despite her offensive words, there was no hate or disgust in her tone; only annoyance and confusion as she thought to come to terms with the truth I had just spoken.

"Tessa told you, didn't she?"

"I won't put you through it," I promised, not bothering to answer her question, but doing so nevertheless. "I'd say I die before I let someone else claim my title, but I won't. I won't f*****g die. I won't be defeated," I stated confidently. There may have been a time when I had nothing to live for, but now I had too much I couldn't afford to lose.

"I see that now," she agreed, to my bewilderment. The sincerity in her eyes further shocked me. "Even if you didn't go through with it...s**t, you beat me. You're ready, wolfie."

"I guess I am, aren't I?" I chuckled at her disbelief. I couldn't blame her; I didn't believe in myself either until very recently.

She took a few steps forward, standing right in front of me. Then, she did the last thing I expected and dropped to one knee in front of me, lowering her head in disrespect.

"I, Kindra Simard, huntress and Greatest Champion of the Snow Pelt Clan, pledge my loyalty to you, My King," she spoke loud and clear.

I had to blink a few times to process her words. It was merely a formality, one she had already performed during my coronation. I was fully aware she wasn't being honest then, but now, there were no traces of mockery in her tone. "When we march to the battlefield in a week, I will have your back."

"Rise, Kindra Simard, the Greatest Champion," I uttered, touching her shoulder. She glanced at me before following my command. "Thank you for your loyalty."

"You have reached your full potential, Jasper; there's nothing else I can possibly teach you. We're done here."

I nodded at her in acknowledgement. She bowed her head again before excusing herself, leaving me baffled at the center of the arena. Not only did I beat the strongest warrior of our clan, but she also willingly submitted to me.

"Well, don't just stand there like a plant!" Phoenix scolded me. "You're a true king now, you doofus. Portray yourself as such!"

"Says the wolf who will ask his mate for belly rubs," I barked back.

"I will let my queen dress me up in a cute little bow tie and sit pretty for her if she wants me to. That doesn't make me less of a f*****g king."

"If you say so." I laughed before shoving him back to the depths of my mind, finally leaving the arena; I had important news to share with my queen.

Knowing Andromeda should be at the Forum, I headed there, trying my best to conceal my silly proud smile as I roamed through the hallways. I would usually wait for her in the Queen's Chambers, but I had a feeling she wouldn't be bothered by my presence. When I pushed through the double doors of the spacious meeting room, the only two women there went silent. Their gazes landed on me, and the second Adriana noticed me, she rose from her seat.

"Good morning, My King." She smiled fondly, nodding at me.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, ladies," I returned the gesture before my hungry eyes landed on my mate.

Andromeda stared at me for a few seconds, soon turning to her right hand. "We'll take ten, Drina."

"My Queen." The woman bowed her head at her best friend before turning on her heel to allow her some privacy.

"Did everything go well with contacting our allies?" I asked as I made my way towards her. Her diamonds analyzed me closely until I took my seat beside her.

"I only managed to talk to your former Alpha so far. He agreed to send fifty warriors to help us fight the war." She reached out for my face. At first, I thought she was going to pull me in for a kiss. Instead, she held my chin firmly, turning my head from one side to the other to inspect my face. "Why don't you have any new bruises? Did Kindra not show up for training today?"

"She did." I smirked, letting her come to her own conclusions.

She let go of me, arching an eyebrow. "You defeated her?" Her confusion turned into pride as a smile lit up her face. "You did, didn't you? Jasper Stray, you never cease to amaze me."

"I'm finally worthy of my title," I announced.

"Oh, Jasper. You always were. You've been destined to be king before you were even born." She brushed my light beard with the back of her fingers, looking at me with love in her eyes. "But I'm glad you can finally see it."

"Now that I am fully able to protect our family..." I snaked my hands around her waist, leaning closer to whisper in her ear, "Can we talk about producing some heirs?"

"I'll think about that." She placed her lips on mine, setting my heart on fire.

As our tongues wrestled, I pulled her into my lap. What started with an innocent kiss, soon turned into a full make-out session. I don't think the l**t we felt for each other would ever die down, but I was sure our love would only grow. We easily lost track of time, and if it weren't for the sound of a third person entering the Forum and clearing her throat, we wouldn't have stopped.

"Should I come back later, My Queen?" Adriana's playful voice echoed through the room.

Reluctantly, Dree pulled away from me, standing up to straighten her dress and fix her hair. With a small sigh, she sat back on her own chair, finally glancing at her right hand.

"That won't be necessary. We can keep going." My mate gestured for Adriana to take her seat. Since I had finished what I had come here to do, I got ready to leave, but Dree touched my hand softly, catching my attention. "I'll be free in a couple of hours. We should celebrate your...achievement."

"A date? We haven't gone on one for a while." I smiled in agreement.

"I can help you plan something once I'm done here."

"Don't worry, My Queen." I took her hand in both of mine, lifting it up to my lips. "Leave it to me."

I winked at her, and a satisfied smirk played on her lips as left the room.
