My Mate Is An Omega
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 6

Andromeda

POV

The moment Wade left the Gamma suite, my mate's face turned red with rage. He kept staring at the closed door in silence for a few more seconds, probably trying to calm down. Eventually, he turned around to head into the bathroom without uttering a single word. Despite Jasper refusing to touch me, I knew wolves were very possessive over what belonged to them, so I could understand his reaction. Deep down, I wanted to go after him and reassure him nothing would ever happen between me and my guard, especially now that I met him, but considering how adamant he was about not mating with me, I decided it would be in my best interest to use this to my favor.

Wade always had a thing for me, but I made it obvious countless times that it wouldn't happen. Honestly, I didn't really know if he wanted to get with me because he liked me, or because he wanted to become king. Either way, I thought he would give up after I found my mate, which clearly didn't happen. It made sense though; lynxes could smell fear from a thousand miles away. Add Jasper's insecurity to the fact that I hadn't been marked yet, and my royal guard had a lot to feed off of. However, it didn't sound all bad in this case - maybe his insistence would help push my mate to make a move.

"Fighting dirty?" Genevra arched an eyebrow at me, her short tail swinging from side to side in amusement.

"All's fair in love and war, isn't it?" I shrugged.

"Not very princess-like...but I suppose a Queen will do whatever's necessary to get what they want." She purred in agreement.

While I waited for my mate to come back, I decided to change into a salmon pink satin babydoll - cute, but definitely not my sexiest one, as I was saving that one for later. As soon as I laid on the bed, I heard the bathroom door open. Out came a visibly more relaxed Jasper, although his expression was still as troubled as it had been since he ran away from me during our first meeting. As he walked towards me, I expected him to ask me questions about my relationship with Wade, but to my surprise, he didn't. Instead, he leaned over me slowly, staring deeply into my eyes for what felt like an eternity. I wasn't the type to be at a loss for words, but my mind went completely blank as he remained frozen in his spot, inches away from me. My gaze strayed away from his piercing one momentarily; they say curiosity killed the cat, yet I couldn't fight the urge to study his naked chest. It was the first time he was standing near me without a shirt on, and boy, was he hot! He wasn't as brawny as most lynxes, or even other wolves, but his muscles were pretty well defined - exactly how I liked them.

My concentration was broken when he suddenly pressed his lips against my forehead. It was an innocent, long, loving kiss, but it still caused heat to pool between my legs. I instinctively pulled my thighs closer together in hopes he wouldn't be able to smell my arousal; I didn't want to give him that kind of satisfaction, especially when he was adamant he would be able to resist me so easily.

"This is now your room too, for as long as you stay in my home," he started, his gaze never leaving mine. "I want you to feel comfortable here. If there's anything I can do to achieve that, just let me know." He brought his hand closer to my face, brushing my cheek with the back of his fingers before sighing and walking towards the other side of the bed. "Good night, Dree," he whispered as he laid beside me, turning the lights off soon after.

"Good night, Jasper," I managed to utter despite my confusion.

I certainly wasn't expecting him to touch me, let alone kiss me, especially not after what Wade said. It was the most initiative he had taken so far, and it made me consider whether I should try something. No, it was too soon; slow and steady wins the race. Right now, I had him exactly where I wanted - wrapped around my finger. I couldn't risk scaring him off by trying to seduce him. As long as I could keep him intrigued, I would definitely win this game.

Jasper left early in the morning to go to training, I suppose; since I pretended to be asleep when he got up, he didn't talk to me, although I could feel him staring for a long time. It was Monday, which meant he probably had to go back to his routine. As next in line to become Queen, I was obviously a fighter, and it was in my best interest to stay in shape while I was at Diamond Tempest. However, I still didn't feel comfortable enough to spar with the wolves. Maybe I could ask him to train with me, or better yet, have my loyal guard help me with that.

When my mate returned to the room, I had already changed into a long, light green sundress; without my mother here to judge me, I could dress up more casually. He asked me if I would rather join everyone at the dining hall for breakfast or order room service, but I figured if I was going to live here, I should probably get more familiar with his friends. Wade was already at our door when we walked out, and Jasper's face when he saw him was priceless. Again, I almost felt pity for him. Almost.

As expected, considering the events of last night, my guard was quite chatty with me. Although the Gamma wasn't vocal about his annoyance, it was written all over his face, and I couldn't have been more satisfied about it. The ranked members were also quite welcoming. To my surprise, they seemed genuinely concerned about making me feel at home because of the simple fact that I was their friend's mate, rather than due to my status as a princess. If anything, wolves were certainly friendlier than lynxes. "And so another week begins!" Alpha Lancaster chanted as he rose from the table after we were all done eating. He seemed so passionate about his duty it was slightly contagious. He offered his hand to his Luna to help her up before turning to my mate. "Jasper, go ahead and wait for me at the office. I'll be there in a few. Feel free to tag along, Princess Andromeda. Maybe it will help you get acclimated if you understand more about our politics."

"Thank you for the invitation, Alpha Lancaster. I will certainly be there." I smiled politely as the two of them excused themselves, followed by Luke and Megan, the two Betas.

"You ready to go?" Jasper asked me, but before I could reply, Wade chimed in.

"I sure am!"

There was silence for a moment before my mate cleared his throat. "I'm very sorry, Wade, but the topic we will discuss is confidential."

"But I thought your Alpha said Dree could tag along?" my guard argued. Oh, this was getting interesting. Genevra was so entertained she could be eating popcorn right now as she watched them.

"Exactly. He invited her, not you." The Gamma forced a smile as he stood up. "You see, while the princess is here, she is technically my Gamma Female. Therefore, she is not only allowed to know everything about our pack, but also encouraged to do so." He tugged on my arm. Amused, I hesitated a while before following him. "You, however, are just a guard."

"And for that reason, I must stay with the princess and protect her!" My friend rose to his feet as well, staring straight into my mate's eyes. Jasper was fairly shorter than the other male, but he didn't look the least intimidated.

"It's fine, Wade. I doubt I will face any danger inside of the most secure building in this pack," I interfered before things escalated. "I'll reach out to you once the meeting is over."

The guard didn't seem the least pleased, but he knew better than to defy my orders. "Very well, my Princess." He bowed his head at me as we walked past him.

As soon as we were out of the dining hall, Jasper rushed me into the pack house and up to the top floor without uttering a word. And once he closed the door to the Alpha's office, granting us complete privacy, he finally broke down. "Alright, who is that guy?" I swear I could see fire in his pale blue eyes.

"What guy?" I faked confusion.

"...Wade," he replied hesitantly, disgust evident in his tone. "Is he your Beta? Gamma?"

"First off, cat clans don't work the way wolf packs do. We have the Queen, who is also the Chief Huntress, followed by her right hand. The best warriors are the highest in our hierarchy, and they're all females. Aside from the King, no men can occupy positions of power; they are merely the brute strength of our clans, and their purpose is to defend it," I clarified, taking a step closer to him. "To answer your question, Wade is the son of my mother's right hand, whom my mother deeply trusts, and the brother of mine. Mom had plans of arranging a marriage between us if I didn't replace our clan's destined King before I turned twenty. He's always been kind of obsessed about me..." or about my status.

"Couldn't your mother have sent your right hand instead?" he pondered after thinking for a while.

"No. She's too valuable to our clan, especially in my absence."

"Great! This is just great!" He threw his hands into the air before running them through his hair as he paced the room nervously.

"You're one to complain!" I finally lost it. "This is all your fault anyway! If you had just marked me-"

"I can't! I won't. Not yet." He lowered his tone, turning back to look at me. There was sincerity in his eyes as he took one of my hands, using his free one to move a strand of hair away from my face. "You need to know you are different to me, Dree. I will show you." I couldn't help but huff, looking away. "Are all wolves this bureaucratic?" He c****d his head to the side, and I had to roll my eyes at him. I took one step closer, feeling him stiffen when I rested my hand on his chest. He studied me cautiously, but didn't move. "If you won't mate with me...will you at least kiss me?" He widened his eyes as I moved my lips closer to his. "You talk too much. I have a feeling that mouth of yours can do so much better." I felt his chest vibrate underneath my touch.

There it was the growl of his animal side.

Taking it as a green light, I slowly inched closer until our lips brushed against each other. It was enough to make him groan as he finally let go of his control. His tongue seemed to have a mind of its own as it roughly pushed my lips apart, replaceing its way inside of my mouth. Its texture was so much softer than a lynx's; it was velvety and...addicting. Closing my eyes, I allowed myself to get lost in the breathtaking sensation, but never losing control of it.

I moved my hand up to his neck, pressing his head closer to mine in an attempt to deepen the kiss, while he did the same by wrapping his arm around my lower waist. The sounds of pleasure coming out of his mouth evinced he was trying to hold back, but failing harder each time.

"You see, Jasper..." I breathed out in between kisses. "You belong... to me... There's no point in... fighting it." A fierce growl escaped my own mouth as he too roared in response. I was about to dig my nails into the back of his neck, when the sound of the door opening suddenly brought us back to reality.

It took my mate a moment to come down from the high and step away from me. If Alpha Lancaster had seen anything on his way in, he pretended not to have. After a little bit of chitchat, the two men started going over a list of candidates to occupy the Gamma position once Jasper left, while Caitlyn and I mostly listened to their discussion.

Learning about the procedures was more interesting than I thought it would be. It was weird how ranked members in wolf packs were chosen by the ones who were in charge and trained to fill their new roles. In cat clans, we held trials and tests to determine who was the best individual to occupy a certain position with minimal training. I guess it made sense, since packs were a lot larger than clans; in order to keep their communities stable, they preferred to choose wolves who were loyal to them, even if they had to invest extra time to prepare them properly.

Once the substitute was picked, Alpha Lancaster gave my mate a few more instructions before dismissing us. It seemed Jasper would be pretty busy over the next few weeks, yet he still insisted on spending some time with me before he actually started working. He led me outside so we could enjoy the rest of the morning, but I had the feeling the situation wouldn't go as he planned when my guard immediately joined us.

"How was the meeting?" Wade chanted as he surprised my mate.

"Goddess! Were you spying on us?" He clearly wasn't able to hide his frustration as well as before anymore.

"Well, it is my duty to keep an eye on the princess at all times," the man stated blankly.

"Of course it is." I laughed at how Jasper fought the urge to roll his eyes.

"Anyway, Dree..." Wade walked past my mate, inching closer to me. "I need to go over the clan's reports with you, as your mother has given me the task of keeping you updated. Are you free tonight?"

I was about to reply when my mate suddenly chimed in. "Actually, she's not. I'm taking her on a date tonight."

A victorious smile lit up my face. Oh, things were about to get very interesting!
