Chapter 1608 Mutual Benefit

Amanda looked dazed.

Ethan had not only shown her the divorce agreement but also the document with her husband's signature, agreeing to send her to the mental hospital.

In the past few days, she had undergone numerous examinations.

The results revealed that she suffered from schizophrenia and severe depression.

Seeing her condition, Ethan felt a mix of frustration and pity, but he didn't want to say anything more.

The nurse arrived to administer medication.

With a numb expression, Amanda swallowed the pills handed to her.

Ethan remained silent. "What sins have I committed for me to be assigned such a task? This is torture! Well, at least she is willing to take the medication for treatment!" He thought. An hour later, Ethan met up with Iris.

"Hey, you look a bit better than a few days ago. You've gained a bit of weight, too. You're adapting well to life without your parents, huh..." Ethan wanted to lighten the mood.

Iris looked up at him, then uttered a sentence that wiped the smile off his face.

"I've been eating well these days."

"What did she mean? Did she not have enough to eat back home? Not feeding a child properly in this day and age... What kind of behavior is that? Even criminals in jail were fed three meals a day!" He thought.

"Kid, there's something I need to talk to you about before you go inside," Ethan said, feeling pained.

In the end, she was just a little child. He didn't want to hand her the divorce agreement so that she could persuade her own mother to sign it.

However, he had no other choice. After all, he also had to protect her interests.

Using gentle and simple words, Ethan explained the situation to Iris.

"Can I really keep the house?" Iris was incredibly surprised.

"As long as your mother signs the agreement, you can use this document to file a lawsuit whenever you need the house," Ethan explained, "Even if you don't need the house for now, you can still reclaim it in the future."

"I understand." Iris nodded. "Hand me the agreement."

"No, I can only give it to you if you convince your mother to sign it."

"That's fine, too."

After that, Ethan led Iris inside.

As they pushed open the door to the hospital ward, Iris saw the thin woman sitting on the bed. Her face stiffened, and her eyes immediately welled up with tears.

It was just as Athena had said.

At her age, children would seek comfort from their parents when they were in pain, even if they suffered severe abuse under them.

Even though Iris was terrified of her mother, when she saw her at that moment, she couldn't help but feel aggrieved.

Amanda glanced at her. "Have you just finished performing? Were you the lead singer?"

Amanda's aloof words instantly dampened Iris' spirits.

It was a wake-up call for Iris. "No, I'm not. Mia had always been the lead singer."

Amanda didn't become hysterical. She just snorted lightly and said with disdain, "I never had any hope for you in the first place. You're useless." "You called me here just to scold me?" Iris asked.

"I should have kept a level head. Why would my mother ever love me? To her, I have always been the source of her misery," She thought. "Come here," Amanda said in a low voice.

Iris hesitated for a moment before taking a step forward.

When she reached Amanda, Amanda was suddenly riled up. "Iris, your father has a mistress, and she's pregnant with a boy!"

Iris's small body shuddered.

"Helping me is also helping yourself!" Amanda continued. She then grabbed Iris's hand so tightly that Iris felt her bones might shatter. "Tail your father and replace that mistress. When you get the chance, push her down the stairs. Once the boy is gone, your father will come back to us!"
