My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1609
Chapter 1609 Dregs of Feudal Society
Ethan was shocked, and so was Iris.
"Amanda, she's so young. How can you ask her to..."
"That's right. She's so young, so she won't face criminal charges. Just push her. What's the big deal? The important thing is that her father will come back home to reunite with us!" Amanda glared at Ethan fiercely. "Iris, don't listen to their nonsense. Nothing is more important than us being together as a family. Listen to your mother just this once!"
"Mom!" Iris burst into tears. "Dad doesn't love you anymore!"
It was like a bolt from the blue for Amanda.
"Get a divorce. Find the person who loves you and live with them. Don't stay here anymore. Grandma and Aunt bully you, and Dad doesn't love you, either..."
"Smack!" Amanda slapped Iris in the face.
Then, she grabbed Iris by the collar, lifted her up, and pressed her onto the bed. She then used both hands to choke Iris.
"Why do they bully me? It's all because of you!" Amanda yelled at the top of her lungs.
Ethan rushed forward to try and pull her away but found himself unable to move her.
"Did you already know that your father had a mistress? Yes! You must have known since you've been nothing but a burden to me!" Amanda shouted, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in this situation today!" At that moment, medical staff rushed in..
With the help of two other people, Ethan seized the opportunity to grab Iris and pull her away.
"Let go of me! Let me go!! I'm not sick! Iris, I'm not sick! They slandered me because they were bribed!" Amanda struggled desperately. After being injected with a tranquilizer, she gradually quieted down, but her gaze remained fixed on Iris.
Iris seemed to have been stunned.
Looking at her mother becoming quiet, she regained her senses, recalling the suffocation and the pain in her neck when she felt as if it would be snapped.
Unable to hold back, she burst into tears.
As she was on the verge of death, the last of the imagination she had regarding her mother dissipated.
From then on, she truly became an orphan.
Ethan carried Iris out of the hospital room and carefully examined her neck.
Her neck was so delicate that he could easily snap it with his large hands.
"Your mother is truly ruthless!" Ethan's frustration was evident.
All the while, Iris sobbed uncontrollably.
Then, choking on her sobs, she said, "It's not..."
"You're not going to defend your mother again, are you?" Ethan wore a stern expression.
"Not my mother... She's not my mother anymore!" Iris's voice cracked, and she covered her eyes, wailing even louder.
Ethan sat there. He sighed heavily.
Although he wanted to console her, he didn't know how.
"Should I say that her mother was just mentally ill, and that's why she treated her like this?" He wondered.
After a few days of contact with Amanda, Ethan knew better than anyone else that Amanda was one of the dregs left behind by feudal society.
Even if she weren't mentally ill, she would still see her daughter as a burden and blame her for her own misery.
Ultimately, Ethan decided not to console Iris.
"Don't worry. Since my boss is willing to help you, even if you can't get this house, with their support, you'll grow up just fine." Ethan patted her shoulder. "Let's go. There's a car outside to take you away."
