Chapter 1775 Jealousy Born From Unrequited Love?

Gideon Hale suddenly looked up, gazing at the seemingly distressed Fred. "You're lying."

Without further elaboration, his words struck Fred as if he'd been hit unexpectedly.

"I didn't..."

Holding little Bubbles with one hand, Gideon took out his phone with the other and played a video.

Inside a bustling bar.

A group of people sat together, drinking and chatting.

"You all heard about that incident with Sally, right?" A man teased while wrapping his arm around a woman's waist, laughing.

"Who hasn't, with how much attention it's gotten both nationally and internationally? Fred, didn't you just return from Switzerland? So Sally just gave up on Gideon, whom she's been chasing for over a decade, for someone else?"

The camera shook slightly.

The screen blurred for a moment.

Then, Fred's face, shrouded in smoke, slowly came into focus.

With a look of disdain, he scoffed. "You believe everything on Twitter? I've known her for years. Do I not know what kind of trash she is? A disgusting whore!"

Fred stared at the video on the phone.

His face turned pale.

"Gideon... I..."

Athena might not have seen the video, but hearing those words was enough to irk her.

"Why do you despise her so much?" Gideon, fixing his eyes on Fred, asked slowly.

Looking even more troubled, Fred blurted out, "I'm angry that she wasted over a decade of your life and then married someone else without a second thought about your feelings!" "Is that really why?" Gideon's tone became noticeably calm.

Fred's breathing became erratic.

Defensively, he slammed the table and stood up. "Gideon, after all these years of friendship, will you turn against me completely?"

"Honey, please don't!" Fred's wife hurriedly intervened.

Gideon looked at the anxious woman, slightly tilting his head, and said, "Has anyone ever told you that you look just like Sally?"

"Gideon!"

Fred cried out in shock.

Gideon chuckled briefly, "Seriously, you look a bit like Sally when she was young."

The woman sat there, her ears ringing. Her mind went blank for a moment before turning to Fred. "Honey?"

"Don't listen to his nonsense. Take the kid and wait for me in the car. We can't eat here any longer, and I'll take you somewhere else afterward!"

Fred's wife hesitated for a moment.

Her gaze briefly met Athena's.

She then got up to pick up her daughter.

"No, I want Gideon!" little Bubbles protested.

Gideon remained unmoved.

He watched as Fred's wife left with their crying daughter.

The room suddenly fell silent.

"What on earth is going on between you two?" Athena leaned back, glancing back and forth between one cold and one agitated face.

"Yes!" Fred suddenly slammed the table, startling Athena. "I once liked Sally, but I moved on after learning about her actions. My wife is nothing like her!"

Fred, seemingly on the brink of a breakdown, paced around the room. "Gideon, you don't think I grew to hate Sally because she rejected me, do you?"

"After those photos of her and the businessman went viral, we broke up," Gideon stared at Fred. "Have you forgotten about the candlelit dinner and the yacht filled with roses you arranged to confess your feelings to her?"

Athena was speechless.

Fred was frozen. "Did Sally tell you? She told you about that?!"
