Chapter 1777 Winter in Landen

"Sally, Gideon has found someone else!" Fred shouted, "He's so disgusted with you. He won't want you back!"

Sally's slender silhouette froze.

Then she turned around and said to Fred, "Even if he doesn't want me, I wouldn't be with you."

With that, Sally walked away without looking back.

The rich girl captured this entire scene.

Years ago, she was smitten with Fred, but he only saw her as a friend.

The romantic yacht dinner under the candlelight was her arrangement, initially meant to capture the moment Fred would confess his feelings.

But, for reasons she couldn't explain herself.

She never deleted that footage.

Fred dated many women over the years, and each bore some resemblance to Sally.

But her? Despite standing by Fred for many years, he married someone else in the end.

The hatred was already there.

When Gideon's revenge arrived, the rich girl didn't hesitate to betray Fred.

Gideon laid the phone playing the video on the table.

The volume turned up high.

Fred was stunned, not anticipating the existence of such evidence. He was completely taken aback.

"Athena, do you know how Sally got home that day?" Gideon looked at Athena. "That yacht had already sailed far from the shore. Fred, mad at Sally's firm rejection, refused to let the dinghy take her ashore, forcing her to stay for the dinner."

Athena looked visibly upset.

She didn't know everything about Sally, but she was aware of Sally's innate stubbornness and determination.

"And then, in the winter of Landen, Sally jumped off the boat!" Gideon's gaze fixed on Fred, seemingly filled with loathing.

"I didn't make her jump!" Fred immediately defended himself, then turned to Athena with a pleading look.

"On such a cold day, if it weren't for a nearby party yacht that saved her, Sally would've died!" Gideon's voice and body were both trembling.

Upon learning of this incident, he spent the entire night checking the weather in Landen that particular evening.

His heart broke over and over again.

The injustices Sally had faced, what he had seen was merely the tip of the iceberg.

Every time he learned about another hardship she endured, it felt like an endless torment for Gideon.

"She already suffered so much, yet you kept seeking revenge over the past decade! What did she do wrong by not liking or rejecting you, Fred?! Tell me, what did she do?!"

Gideon's rage grew more intense, the pain in his heart made it hard for him to breathe.

"Weren't you like her? Weren't you smitten at first sight? Seeing her mistreated and unprotected, doesn't it hurt you?!"

"How dare you question me?" Fred exploded. "Gideon Hale, do I need to spell it out? You approved of her torment, didn't you? Be honest, were you truly unaware of Sally being bullied?"

Gideon clenched his fists.

How could he have missed the signs?

Her inexplicably stained dress.

The purse she lost during the banquet.

The unexpected fall into the pool...

"I know I'm a bastard," Gideon faced Fred. "But that won't stop me from punishing the bastards among you."
