Chapter 1779 Have You Given Up?

As Gideon spoke, he looked at Athena. "Let's dine somewhere else. This place has become stifling because of him. It's off-putting."

With that said, Gideon stood up.

As Gideon moved, it seemed like he stepped on something.

Gideon shifted his foot and looked down.

What Gideon stepped on was a tiny hairpin beneath it.

It probably belonged to Fred's daughter, likely falling off while struggling to stay with her father.

Gideon looked away and headed for the exit with a cold expression.

"Gideon."

As Gideon reached the door, Fred's voice called out to him. He paused.

"We've been through life and death together. I pulled you out of the rip current when we visited the mansion that year. I've risked my life for you! I may have wronged Sally, but I've never wronged you!" Fred's voice choked up towards the end.

Without turning or responding, Gideon opened the door and left.

Seeing Gideon emerge, Dorian immediately checked on Athena.

Athena also stood up, glanced at the sobbing Fred, and then turned to leave the private room.

"You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Athena said as she stepped out, her gaze sharp on Gideon. "You knew that if you sent those two videos to me earlier, I wouldn't have mediated for Fred."

"Isn't it satisfying to confront someone face-to-face?" Gideon looked at Athena and retorted, "Haven't you always enjoyed that?"

Athena was momentarily speechless.

"Well, it is."

"Let's have dinner." Gideon suggested and changed the topic, "I remember the first time I dined alone with Athena. We had the same restaurant, in Salin City, right? Back then, I advised you to stay away from Byron. Who would've thought you two would end up together while I lost my beloved."

After saying that, with a self-deprecating smile, Gideon continued walking.

As Gideon entered the main hall, a soft voice called, "Gideon!"

"Bubbles."

The woman's hair was more disheveled than before.

Her eyes were red, probably from crying.

She raised her hand and gently covered Bubbles' mouth.

Bubbles looked at Gideon with sparkling eyes. With her chubby little hands, she pushed away her mother's hand, giggling, and stretched her arms to Gideon, exclaiming, "Gideon, hug! Hug!" "Mr. Hale, I apologize for the child." The woman seemed quite afraid of Gideon.

The woman raised her hand again to block Bubbles' face and line of sight, turned slightly sideways, and shielded Bubbles from Gideon's view, instinctively protecting the child.

Gideon didn't respond and headed for the exit.

However, Gideon hadn't gone far when he heard Bubbles' cries, her muffled voice continuously calling out for Gideon.

"Why is Bubbles so fond of you? You once saved her life, didn't you?" Athena inquired.

Gideon glanced at her, initially reluctant to answer, but then shared. "When Bubbles was born, Fred was stranded overseas for some reason. Fred entrusted me to look after her for a few months." "No wonder." Athena remarked, her expression revealing understanding.

Gideon expected Athena to use Bubbles' presence to persuade him.

But to his surprise, Athena remained silent.

When they returned to the car, Gideon unable to bear it any longer, he finally spoke, "Athena, weren't you here to persuade me? Have you given up?"
