Chapter 416 Freed

"That's right, didn't you see it just now? She wants to sever ties with her mother just because of a trivial matter! You don't know this, but her father died early, and her mother raised her alone. Now that she has grown up, she..."

"If I have a mother like her, I will cut off relations with her." Surprisingly, Aron interrupted and said with a cold voice, "Also, trivial matter, you say? That's her grandmother. Even if it was just a scratch, I'd support her in pursuing the matter to the end, not to mention that her grandmother had to get multiple stitches."

Aron sneered. "I think it'll only be disrespectful if she decides to let the matter go."

"You..." Jane pointed at Aron's hand, her hand shaking.

"Mrs. Jane Hansen." Aron's voice was still cold. "This is the first time we meet, but I have none but one thing to say to you. Evie is great. You don't want her, but I do."

Then, he looked away and said gently to Evie, "Let's go."

"Wait! You're not allowed to leave!"

Jane panicked.

She got off the hospital bed and chased Evie out barefooted.

"Evie!" She ran out of the ward and shouted at Evie's back.

Evie stopped and was silent for a moment.

"Give me a minute," She said to Aron.

Then, she turned around and walked toward Jane.

With tears circling in her eyes, Jane said, "I knew it. You're just angry. You won't really abandon your mother!"

Evie walked up to Jane and gazed at her deeply.

Then, she raised her hand and wiped away Jane's tears. "From now on, I will give you 10 thousand dollars monthly for your expenses. Don't call me or text me, and don't WhatsApp me. I'll block you." Jane was stunned. Tears burst out, and she could not help shaking her head.

"Evie, you can't do this to your mother!" She grabbed Evie's hand and cried even harder.

Evie tilted her head slightly.

Enduring the turbulent emotions in her heart, she said, "I have given you many chances, and you don't... don't love me at all."

"No!"

"You're willing to put me in a sea of fire for the Hansen family, but why do I deserve it? I was loved by my father too. Why do you always sacrifice me? If the Hansen family and Mr. Brian Hansen are so important to you, what's the difference with or without me?"

"Evie, it's true that your mother didn't handle things properly today. Listen to me. Let's go home, and we'll talk about this as a family. If you feel you've been mistreated, tell me, and I'll give you justice!" Brian held his wife and said sincerely.

Evie lowered her eyelids and smiled.

"Mr. Brian Hansen, everyone says you are a very good stepfather, and I felt the same way at first. I am very grateful that you provide me with food, clothing, and admission to a good university, and I'm sorry." Evie said, looking up at Brian. "But... Do you really not know what my mother did?"

Brian was stunned for a second.

Feeling a little guilty, she avoided Evie's gaze.

"In the past few years, I have introduced about five big clients to your company, which is enough to pay back the money you paid for my food, clothing, and schooling." Evie continued, "I believe it's fair and square."

"Evie..." Brian had something else to say.

Evie pushed Jane's hand away, turned around, and walked back.

To her, the Hanson family had always been a prison.

Today, she opened the lock and set herself free.

"Let's go."

She walked up to Aron.

Aron nodded, and before leaving, he took another look at Jane's direction.

A few people came out of the ward as well.

What they said could not be heard, but they were certainly not compliments.

Before Aron looked away, his gaze met Caspian.

There was a clear sign of anger in Caspian's eyes.

Aron gave him a contemptuous smile, looked away, and followed Evie's pace.
