Chapter 49 She Blocked Byron's

Number

Juliana was drinking when receiving the call.

Athena didn't say much but transferred Juliana some money and told her to treat the people who helped them.

After all this, Athena began to pack her things slowly.

A diamond cufflink fell out of the clothes she wore yesterday as she was packing them up.

Athena froze for a moment.

Then she picked it up.

During a business trip to Switzerland with Byron last year, she saw the cufflink in a designer store.

And she loved it at that time, so she didn't hesitate to spend two months' salary on it.

It was ridiculous to think about it now.

She knew her place so well that she feared it would be

to give him a gift.

She never had the courage to give the cufflink away. When they returned from the business trip, Byron spent the night with her. And the following day, she quietly pinned the cufflink to the cuff of his suit.

"I'll take you, too."

Athena clutched the cufflink in her palm.

And her palm tingled with sharp edges.

With her bags packed, Athena checked out and ordered a light but nutritious meal at the hotel restaurant.

She had just started eating when the group chat named Miserable Office of the President suddenly came alive.

Gordon: [It's said that Mr. Crawford will officially announce his engagement tomorrow!]

Lucky: [Mr. Crawford hasn't come to the company for several days. They say he is accompanying his fiancée to decide on a wedding dress!] Zander: [Did you see the wedding ring? Overseas

bloggers broke the news! Mr. Crawford

ordered a large diamond ring for his fiancée!]

Then Zander sent two pictures of the diamond ring in the group chat.

Gordon: [What a big diamond!]

Lucky: [You are too shallow!]

Athena looked at the huge diamond in the picture.

Then she glanced at the diamond cufflink in her hand.

Her undelivered gift looked indeed shabby by comparison.

She was about to put away the phone when getting a message from Byron.

[Get me off the blacklist.]

Athena stared at the dialog box in silence for a moment.

[Mr. Crawford, I have completed all the work related to the infrastructure project in Salin City.] Athena typed a line and

sent it.

Before Byron could reply, she followed up with another one.

I have forwarded all my work notes on secretarial matters to Miss Holland. So far, all my work has been handed over, and I will not return to the company. As for the position of executive president, after careful consideration, I think I am not suitable for it. Mr. Crawford, you'd better give the job to someone more capable.]

Byron made a voice call directly to her.

But Athena hung up and then blocked Byron's number.

She turned off her phone and threw it in her bag.

Then Athena finished the meal slowly.

Another phone rang.

She took it over and picked it up.

"Miss Newton, I'm the driver who will take you to the airport!"

"So early?" Athena looked at the time, and it was twenty minutes earlier.

"I just dropped off a guest from the airport. If you're not in a hurry, I can wait for you for 20 minutes." The person on the other end of the line sounded honest.

Athena thought about it, and it didn't matter where she sat

and waited for the plane.

"No, I'm coming down now."

But Athena was vigilant.

Before getting in the car, she checked the license plate repeatedly and made sure it was indeed the car she booked.

The driver exited the car and put her suitcase in the trunk.

Athena sat in the back row.

Not long after, the car got on the highway.

The airport was very far from downtown, and it took more than an hour to get there, even by highway.

On the way, Athena received a phone call from Evie.

Evie confirmed the time when her plane landed and wanted to pick her up.

Meanwhile, Evie complained about how annoying the new company she had just joined was.

Athena comforted her with a smile.

And she happened to glance out of the window.

A load sign flashed past her eyes.
