Chapter 61 The Reason of Getting Married

The unprecedented panic immediately overwhelmed Byron.

He went into the bedroom.

It used to be a cozy and lovely place, but now it was already

empty.

Byron looked around.

However, there was no trace of her existence at all.

He then went to the bathroom and cloakroom.

But still, everything that belonged to her had already disappeared.

Athena seemed to have left resolutely, as if she wanted to completely wipe herself from his memory.

Byron was angry at first.

He smashed all his stuff into pieces.

But after that,

fear overwhelmed him again.

He sat down on the sofa, took out his cell phone and started

calling Athena again.

However, Athena's phone was still turned off.

When it was almost noon, Heather called.

Byron looked at his phone and thought of Athena's stern look when she resigned.

Then, he hung up the phone.

After a while,

Lola called Byron.

He fell silent for a while, then picked it up.

"You're not in the company?" Lola asked.

"No," Byron replied coldly.

Driven by his rage, a question suddenly emerged in his mind.

"Why do I have to get married?"

In the past few years, under his management, the Crawford family had become more successful in a short time.

And it would certainly get better and better in the future.

Therefore, Byron didn't know why he had to marry Heather.

If it weren't for this marriage, Athena would never leave him

alone!

"Mom, maybe we should forget about this engagement," Byron said in a deep voice.

"Byron Crawford! What nonsense are you talking about!" Lola yelled loudly, "What's the matter with you? Didn't you arrange this marriage yourself? Didn't you say that there is no better choice than the Ross family?"

Byron frowned.

He also wanted to know what was wrong with himself.

He didn't know why he felt so bad, and neither did he know why he was immersed in fear.

"Byron, we started this. Now the whole world is paying attention to your engagement, and a press conference has been arranged. Even if you don't mind anything else, at least

you have to think about Heather, right? If you cancel this engagement right now, she will be a laughingstock! What did

she do wrong?"

Byron fell silent for a while.

He was the best at weighing the pros and cons.

Thus, he knew perfectly well that canceling the engagement right now would cause an uproar.

Moreover, Heather was indeed the most innocent.

If it weren't for him, she could have married a better man.

Byron tried his best to restrain the surging emotions in his

heart.

"I see."

Lola's voice softened. "Byron, is Athena that important to

you?"

Byron gazed down at the spotless carpet.

Even he himself could hardly believe his answer.

"Yeah. She's a must."

Lola was startled.

She knew that Byron had always been rational since he was

young.

Even in the past, he had never said that Freya was a must for

him.

"If you really like her, you can let her be your lover." Lola said

in a deep voice, "But you must not cancel your engagement because of her. You are the president of the Crawford family, and the Ross family respects you for that. However, they will never respect a secretary."

Byron was startled, then straightened his back.

"Heather is still waiting for you. Call her back."

"Okay."

Byron hung up the phone.

He glanced around the apartment again. Every inch of it was

filled with his and Athena's loving memories.

No matter what, Byron knew he had to replace Athena as soon as possible and let her stay by his side.

He would never put her in danger again.

Byron got up and walked towards the door while making a phone call.

"Get rid of those men who went to Salin City this time. I never

want to see these losers again."
