My Second Chance Alpha Mate
Chapter 21

(Gabriel)

I was doing paper works on the attack that happened last night. I have been at it for a couple of hours and cannot concentrate at all. I picked up my phone and checked it. Nothing.

‘Alpha, Madam Blair is here’ Jake informs me through our link.

‘Bring her to my office’ I link back. A few minutes later Jake walks in with Madam Blair. Madam Blair is one of the strongest and most faithful witches my grandfather ever knew. Even though she doesn’t live in the pack she’s always been faithful to my family.

“Alpha” she bows her head in respect. I stand and walk towards her.

“Madam Blair, thank you for coming” I smile opening my arms to give her a hug. She’s so small compared to me.

“Please, have a seat” I gestured to the seat.

“Thank you. It’s good to see you after three years. How is that little boy of yours?” she asks.

“He’s doing great. He’s playing around with the other pups” I inform her. She nods her head, her face now taking a serious expression.

“May I ask, why have you summoned me?” Blair is one to get straight to the point.

“I met my second chance mate” I tell her.

“Congratulations, young Alpha” she smiles at me.

“Thank you, but the reason why I have called you here is because something has been happening with her” I explained how Yashira is human. I then told her what has been happening with the lights every time she gets angry. I also told her what happened with her eyes the night we were attacked when she was here. I told her what Yashira told me that happened to her. Jake also told her what happened between Ashley and Yashira. By the time we finished telling her everything that we knew, she was rubbing her wrinkly chin.

“Are you sure those are the colors you saw in her eyes?” Blair asks.

“One hundred percent” I replied.

“I need to see your mate” she says. I see Jake’s eyes glaze over. After a few seconds they turned back to normal.

“Sara said she’ll watch Tristan” Jake tells me.

“Thank you” I thank my best friend and Beta.

“Okay. Let’s go” I tell Blair. I grabbed my phone and keys, and we head to my car. Shadow has been quiet ever since last night. He wanted to go check on her last night, but I didn’t go. I didn’t want to bother her and wanted her to rest. I thought he would understand, but he hasn’t spoken to me at all.

During the drive Blair was quiet and I could tell she was thinking hard. After fifteen minutes I finally pulled up to Lita’s house. I got out of the car followed by Blair and Jake. I knocked on the door and a few seconds later the door opened.

“Alpha, Beta” Jeffrey bows his head in respect.

“Blair?” Jeffrey asks tilting his head to the side.

“Hello Jeffrey” Blair smiles.

“Jeffrey, is Yashira in?” I ask.

“Yes Alpha. Please come in” Jeffrey steps to the side to let us in.

“Yashira, could you please come down” Jeffrey calls. I hear soft patting and I look up to see my mate. She was wearing shorts and a tank top. Her hair was in a side braid. I literally watched as she sniffed the air and looked at me.

“Mate” she said as her eyes flashed and Blair gasped. I saw my mate’s eyes roll to the back of her head. Using my werewolf speed, I caught her before she fell down the stairs.

“Yashira” I heard Joel yell.

“s**t! She’s burning up” I said. Blair walked around me and touched her forehead.

“We need to take her to the pack clinic, Alpha” Blair says.

“Pack clinic? Alpha? What is going on?” Joel asks.

“Remember when we first met. You told me to take care of your sister?” I asked Joel and he nods.

“I’m doing just that. Jeffrey you can fill him in and bring him to the pack” I tell Jeffrey before running out the door with my mate. Jake takes the keys and opens the door for me. I get in the back seat with Yashira while Blair and Jake get in the front.

‘Something is wrong with mate. Her scent is changing’ Shadow says. I take a whiff of her scent and he’s telling the truth. Her scent has changed. Her scent was mixed with mine with a hint of baby powder. Jake speeds down the road and in a record time we are in front of the pack infirmary. I get out with my mate and head inside the clinic where Maggie is waiting for us.

“Right this way Alpha” Maggie says, and I follow her. I placed Yashira on the bed and Maggie jumps into action along with the nurses. I step back letting them do their job. They run around getting ice and other stuff and Maggie draws some b***d.

“Alpha get her clothes off” Maggie tells me, and I do as she says. Once my mate is completely undressed I cover her up.

“Bring her to the tub Alpha” Maggie says. I walk in the bathroom to see they have made an ice bath.

“Her temperature is dangerously high. This is the best way to bring it down or she would start convulsing soon” Maggie says. I place my mate on the ice bath and as soon as her body was submerged, she sat up letting out an ear-piercing scream. I hold her as she looks around the room and tries to get out.

“Yashira, you need to stay here. We need to bring your fever down my love” I tell her. She looks at me, her mouth trembled from the cold ice bath, but she stayed in the tub. The ice melts withing fifteen minutes of Yashira being in the tub, but her fever had finally gone down and now she had fallen asleep. Maggie walks in and checks on her.

“You can get her out, Alpha. Lita brought her some clean clothes” Maggie tells me. I get Yashira out of the tub wrapping her in a towel. I get her to the bed. I put on her some underwear and her pajamas. She stirs but doesn’t wake up. A knock echoes in the room before the door opens and Lita walks in with Jeffrey and Joel. Maggie walks in before Joel could close the door.

“Alpha, I got the results for the Luna. Everything is normal except that… she’s pregnant” Maggie says making Joel choke on his water. Lita pats his back.

“She’s… pregnant?” I ask thinking that maybe I heard wrong. I look at my mate before looking back at Maggie.

“Yes, Alpha. I have no idea how far she is, but once she wakes, I can determine that with a few questions” Maggie said.

“Then what caused the high fever if everything is normal?” Joel asked.

“I can answer that” Blair says walking in. Behind her was Jake, Sara, and Andy. I was glad this was the Luna’s room because if not we wouldn’t all been able to fit in here. Andy closes the door behind him, and I hear Joel gasp making Andy look at him.

“A-are you a w-werewolf too?” Joel asks making Andy’s eyes widen. Andy looks at me a little lost, but also nervous.

‘He was at the house when Yashira passed out. I knew he was going to come here, so I asked Jeffrey to fill him in’ I link Andy. I watch him gulp taking a caution step towards Joel.

‘What’s going on Andy?’ I asked through the link.

‘Joel is my mate’ he informs me through the link.

‘Oh’ was all I could say at the moment.

“Yes. Does that change how…”

“I feel about you. Hell no, but we’ll talk about this later” Joel tells Andy and I watch as he lets out a breath, he didn’t know he was holding.

“What’s wrong with my granddaughter, Blair?” Lita asks. Yashira stirs and we watch as her eyes flutter open. Her eyes widen when she sees so many people in the room. I help her sit up while Jake gives me a cup of water. I bring the cup to her lips, and she drinks. Once she finishes, I put the cup on the table.

“Thank you” she gives me a small smile before looking at everyone in the room.

“Um… what’s going on? Why am I in the hospital?” she asks.

“Do you remember the night you went out hunting?” Blair asks. Yashira looks at her tilting her head to the side as if trying to figure out who this woman is.

“Yes” Yashira replies.

“Could you tell me what happened and please don’t leave anything out” Blair said. Yashira began to explain everything that happened and even how she felt. Everyone in the room was hanging by every single word Yashira was saying until she finished. Then Jeffrey told Blair what he saw until they brought her here to Maggie.

“Before this, did something happen?” Blair asks.

“Like what?” Joel asks looking at Yashira.

“Something that must have attracted the attention of Ana” Blair says.

“Yes, she saved Tristan from being ran over by a car” Jake says making Jeffrey and Lita gasp. I could tell they had no idea that happened. Jake told Blair what he saw, and I couldn’t stop looking at my mate.

“She also saved him that day when Ashley exposed us” Andy informs Blair.

“Yeah, that was the day Gabriel and Ashley were thrown a few yards away by an invisible force” Jake says.

“It wasn’t an invisible force Blair says looking towards Yashira “It was Yashira protecting herself and the young Alpha. Now, can you describe Ana for me?” Blair asked looking at Yashira.

“Milky white skin, dark brown hair with a thick white streak, and black eyes that felt-”

“Like they could look right into your soul” Blair finished making Yashira nod.

“Do you mind if I do something really quick? I promise I won’t hurt you” Blair says. Yashira nodded her head and I watched as Blair hover her hand over Yashira. After a few seconds Blair brought her hands down.

“Would you mind pulling down your bottom l*p dear?” Blair asked. Yashira looked at me and I nodded reassuring her everything was okay. Yashira grabbed her bottom l*p and pulled it down making everyone in the room gasp, except Blair who only smiled.

“Yashira, when you saved Tristan that night, this caught the attention of Ana. She must have sensed that you are pure of heart and this action not only cause her to choose you but also her powers. Usually the powers would go to the heir, but Ana didn’t have any since her mate rejected her and tried to kill her. Last time I encounter Ana which was a century ago she was looking for someone special she could pass her powers to but hadn’t found the right person. After not hearing from her for a decade, I thought she was dead since no other coven had heard from her either until now. Yashira, the moment you accepted her powers, they were transferred to you the moment she placed her hand on your chest. Now, Ana was not a normal witch. Ana was a high priestess” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My mate was chosen by a high priestess to pass her powers down to.

“She was able to know that Gabriel is her mate” Jake says making Yashira look at him before looking at me.

“We witches, especially Yashira are able to know who our mate is and even mark them. But high priestess mark their mate two different ways making their bond unbreakable” Blair looks at me. I knew there was something she wanted to say but didn’t dare. Not in front of so many.

“So, why the high fever?” Joel asks.

“It’s a couple of things actually. One is because of her powers and the second one is because she hasn’t been marked yet” I hear Blair say but I couldn’t stop looking at my mate who was also looking at me. I could see so many emotions running through her eyes. Anger, hurt, and… love?

“What about her powers?” Lita asks.

“But she smells human” Jeffrey says.

“Her powers are making themselves known and yes, she smells like a human. After Ana’s mom began to be hunted down by other covens, she was able to change her scent to a human. What she didn’t know was that she was changing the scent forever, not just hers but the other high priestess down the line. Not to mention, Yashira was born a human. Alpha?” Blair called snapping me out of my staring contest with my mate.

“Is my cabin still available?” Blair asks.

“Yes” I replied.

“Good. Now because of Yashira’s powers and becoming a high priestess I will need to teach her everything I know which is one third of what Ana should have taught her if she were here” Blair said.

“Then where is Ana?” Joel asks.

“Remember what your sister said about Ana being attack by wolves?” Blair asks and Joel nodded.

“Those were rogues. I’m sure they will explain what rogues are later. The ashes that were close to Yashira when she was found… I’m more than one hundred percent sure that they belonged to Ana. She must have been very seriously injured. When she transferred her powers to Yashira her body turned to ash which stops anyone who would want to use her body for any evil” Blair explains then looks at Yashira.

“I believe that Yashira, should stay at the pack for a little while until I finish everything, I need to teach her” Blair says. I looked at Yashira.

“I would like to stay as well if it’s okay” Joel says.

“You can stay with me” Andy offered.

“I believe the Alpha and Yashira need to speak in private” Blair says.

“Yes, let’s go to the pack house. Dinner should be done soon” Jake says. As soon as everyone was gone, I took Yashira’s hand in mine, but she snatched it away.

“You knew… All this time you knew I was your mate” she said through gritted teeth. The lights in the room started flickering.

“Yes, I knew the first day I saw you” I admitted.

“You were never going to accept me” she whispered but I heard her loud and clear. I sighed taking a seat on the bed next to her. I needed to tell her.

“A little over four years ago I met my first mate, Lacey” I felt Yashira stiffen beside me, but didn’t say a word.

“I was so excited that I had met my mate and my pack finally had their Luna. After we mated and marked each other I found out she was the moon goddess and the vampire god’s granddaughter. I knew I wasn’t her first mate, but I didn’t care. A couple of months later we found out she was pregnant” I saw Yashira place her hand on her stomach, and I placed my hand on top of hers making her look at me.

“One day, Lacey was walking around the pack getting her morning exercise when she was shot multiple times by hunters” I gripped the bed with my other hand as I remembered that horrible day.

“The bullets were silver and laced with wolfsbane. I felt every single bit of pain she was in. When I got to her you could see her veins were black and closing around her stomach, but her wolf was protecting Tristan. When I got there the only two words she said was ‘save him’. I felt her die and my wolf was going crazy, but I knew we had to save our pup, so I cut him out of her. When we got her to Maggie, she said that the amount of silver and wolfsbane in her system was enough to kill one fourth of my pack or ten full grown Alphas” I didn’t know I was crying until Yashira wiped the tears from my face.

“That day, I tracked and killed every single hunter that was there. I blamed every human for my mate’s death, but when I met you… I felt there was something different about you. I tried pushing you away but the more I got to know you and watched you with my son, the more I realized that not all humans are the same. I’m not saying this because of the mate bond. I’m saying this because I got to know you. That day when you opened up to me… I felt like I could see right into your soul. I felt that there was no malice in you. Not even a single drop. The day that you left, and I told you that the night we made love was a mistake… I was lying. I was afraid to get close to you and that you would reject me after how I treated you. But then you came back even if it was to bring the invitation for your grandmother’s birthday party and the moment, I saw you again I knew I couldn’t let you go. I wanted to spend more time with you, and I wanted to do things the human way. I wanted you to be my girlfriend, but the moment you told me you felt like someone was following you, your safety came first” I told her taking her hand in mine again and this time she didn’t pull away.

“I was going to ask you last night to be my girlfriend, but the pack was under attack, and I had to leave” I admitted.

“What about Ashley? I saw her kissing you last night” she said looking down at her lap. I cupped her chin so she could look at me.

“Did you see when I pushed her off of me?” I asked and she shook her head.

“Well, I pushed her off. Yashira, there is only one woman I want, and that woman is you. Bond or no bond, you are the only woman I want. What I feel for you… is something I have never felt before. Not even with Lacey. There are no words to explain how I feel Yashira, but if you give me a chance, I promise to show you exactly how I feel about you. I promise to love you and keep you both and Tristan safe” I admitted.

“Both? So, you know?” she asks.

“Yes, Maggie told us before you woke up” I told her.

“What do we do now?” she asks shyly. I watched as the tips of her ears turn red and I couldn’t help but replace it cute.

“Yashira, will you be my girlfriend?” I asked. I watched as her eyes widen before they flashed, and a soft smile made its way to her face and her eyes blurred with unshed tears.

“Yes” she smiled. When she blinked, her tears fell, and I gently wiped them away.

“Let’s get you out of here. We need to come back tomorrow so Maggie can see you and check on the baby” I tell my mate who nods. We head out the door and I can feel the happiness coming off of her in waves when suddenly I hear pack members gasp with some ‘wow’s and ‘beautiful’ I turned the corner with my mate to see a beautiful, bright rainbow. I had never seen a rainbow so beautiful and bright like this one. I saw many pack members looking at this rainbow including Blair. I saw Blair smile before she turned to look at us.
