Naughty Ceo’s Secret -
Chapter 7
!!! Sorry for the late update! I had some issues with service to upload yesterday! Thanks so much for understanding. !!!
"Opal."
I turned in my chair to see Ted sticking his head out of his office door.
"Yes sir?" I asked.
Ted shook his head.
"Enough with the 'sir' crap." He said.
"Sorry Mr. Mackley." I corrected.
"Opal." Red scolded me softly.
I gave him a smile.
"It wouldn't be very professional if I called you by your first name." I said.
Ted sighed. "Fine, whatever. Can you go get me some coffee, and possibly a donut out of the break room please?" He asked.
"Sure thing Mr. Mackley." I said.
Ted shut his office door, and I stood from my chair. I walked to the break room in silence. Stupid that the break room has to be on the ground floor. Maybe the owner should think about putting a break room on every floor. He has enough money to.
It's been two weeks since that night. I think about Kenzo all the time. Like a ridiculous amount. His deep voice echo's in my dreams, and that hint of a smile.. Ugh!
At this rate I am going to ruin all of my panties. Every time I think of that man I get wet. It's unbelievable. I can't go on like this. Maybe Kendra had a point about me needing to get laid.
The elevator doors dinged, pulling me out of my thoughts. I walked in the crowded area. Then I waited to make my way to the main floor.
"Hey Opal."
I turned my head to see Eric. He's a young intern here. Apparently, his family are good friends with the owners family so he was able to get into the company right after college. Some people have all the luck. "Hi Eric." I said with a smile.
Eric is probably the only other nice person here. At least to me. Ted, and David are the only othes. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I get bullied by everyone, or anything. Most people here are too busy about their own jobs to care about anyone around them. The other secetaries though..
"How are you doing? I feel like I never see you these days." He said.
"Yeah, well, Mr. Mackley keeps me pretty busy." I replied.
"Mr. Mackley? Not Ted?" Eric asked amused.
Eric and I started around the same time as well. Back then we would have lunches together, and we saw each other in the break room often. Ted had wanted me to call him by his first name since day one. Back then I did. Now is different. I shrugged.
"Felt like maybe I should be more professional." I said casually.
Eric raised a perfect blonde brow at me.
"Wouldn't have anything to do with the gossiping sluts here would it?" He asked just as casual.
My eyes went wide as I looked around. No one is paying attention to us though. Thank god.
"Eric, you shouldn't say that about people." I scolded him.
The elevator doors dinged. This is my floor. So, I stepped out. Only for Eric to follow right after me.
"Why not? It's true." He said continuing our conversation.
"You don't know that they're all sluts." I said.
Eric chuckled. "Oh believe me, I do." He said.
I slowed my pace to turn and look at him. Eric has a smug smile spread across his handsome face. Realization hit me.
"Just how many secretaries in this building have you slept with?" I asked.
Eric shrugged.
"Probably all of them except you." He said. "Unless you want to change that." He added.
I rolled my eyes as I pushed open the glass door of the break room. It's full of people. Great.
A few of the other girls that have been here for longer than me started to whisper. Even more whispering started when Eric followed me inside. Whatever, I can ignore them all. Just like I always do.
"No Eric, I do not want to sleep with the slutty intern." I teased lowly.
I went straight to the coffee pot, pouring two cups. Then I grabbed a few napkins. I placed a donut on one, and rummaged through the fridge for a yogurt. If Ted is going to have junk for breakfast, I should at least make him eat something healthy with it. "Hey, that's rude." Eric said amused.
I put the yogurt on the counter next to the rest of my stuff, and gave Eric a pointed look.
"Okay, but seriously. Let me take you out on a date." He said.
"No." I replied as I gathered up everything.
"Why not? You aren't dating that douche bag anymore." Eric said.
I paused to roll my eye.
"Did everyone know he was a douche bag except for me?" I muttered.
Eric took the two cups for coffee for me.
"I'll help you take these back up." He said.
"Thanks." I replied.
"And yes, everyone did know except you." Eric teased.
I rolled my eyes.
"It's not your fault. You just have a thing for guys with control issues." He said.
"How would you know about the guys I have a thing for?" I asked amused.
Eric shrugged as he held the door open for me.
"You must forget that we ate lunch every day together for the first two years that we worked here. Then your boyfriend found out, and made you call him for all of your lunches." Eric said with a pout.
Wow, I completely forgot about that. So much time has passed now, that I honestly stopped thinking about Eric altogether. Wait, does that make me a bad friend?
"I'm really sorry about that Eric. I shouldn't have let him boss me around. Especially when you were such a good friend to me." I said.
Eric gave me a small chuckle.
"Hmm, friend." He mumbled.
"Huh?" I asked.
"Nothing." Eric said.
We paused at the elevators with a large group of people.
"s**t. I forgot a spoon. I'll be right back." I said.
Before Eric could reply, I turned on my heel, and rushed back to the break room. Hopefully Eric holds the elevator for me. I don't want Ted getting too mad about not having his donut to dunk in his coffee. I was just about to turn the corner to the break room when a few voices stopped me in my tracks.
"I can't believe Eric was following her around like that."
I recognize that voice. Joyce, from the floor above me. She's a secretary for the guy in charge of advertising.
"I know. Poor guy. What is he thinking?"
Came another voice. I recognized this voice as well, but I don't know her name. I think it's Janette or something.
"Who knows. He's slept with every available girl here. Now that Opal is skinny, maybe he's giving her a chance." Joyce giggled.
"She won't stay skinny for long if she keeps eating donuts." Janette said.
The both giggled.
"Did you see her grab a yogurt too? As if that would save her from all of the sugar from the donut." Joyce said.
"Girl is hopeless. I thought we were done seeing her face for good. She stopped eating to lose all of that weight I thought." Janetta said annoyed.
I'm annoyed too b***h.
"At least she's much less annoying now." Joyce said. "Do you remember when she used to try to sit with us?" She laughed.
"As if we would befriend someone who f****d her way into the job." Janette said.
Anger coursed through me. I never slept with anyone. Ted just took a chance on me. It was nothing more than that. If anything, he is more like a father, or an uncle to me. I know he feels the same way too.
I squared my shoulders, and took a deep breath. Then I marched right into the break room. The gossiping sluts went silent immediately. I walked to the drawers, and grabbed a plastic spoon. When I got back to the door, I turned back to face them.
"I feel sorry for the two of you ya know. You must have pretty boring lives to have nothing better to do, then sit around gossiping about little old me. Let me set one thing straight. I didn't f**k anyone that works in this building. And if I did, it would be none of your buisness in the first place." I stated.
The women just stared back at me.
I put my nose in the air, and strutted out of the break room. And right into the hard chest of a very tall person. I literally bounced off of the person.
"s**t, I'm sorry." I rushed out.
Thank god Eric took the coffees.
I looked up at an impossibly sexy man. Holy s**t he's hot. Tall, maybe 6'6, with dark brown hair, and deep brown eyes. His chest is broad, and his suit is nice.
A smile spread across his face.
"Not a problem at all sweetheart." He said.
Ugh, I hate pet names from strangers. No matter how hot they are. I'm nobody's sweetheart.
"I overheard what you said to those women." The man said. "I like a woman who can stand up for herself."
If only he knew that was the first time in almost five years that I said anything to defend myself here.
"Okay." Was all I said.
The man's smile grew. Oh cute, he has dimples.
"I'm Beck." He said as he held out his hand to me.
I moved the things in my hand, to shake his.
"Opal." I said.
"Opal.. what an interesting name." He said.
"I guess." I replied.
"I've not seen you around here before Opal." Beck said.
I was just thinking the same thing about you my guy.
"Yeah, I work on the eigth floor. I don't come to the break room much." I told him.
"The accounting department eh?" Beck said.
I nodded with a polite smile.
"Do you go out for lunch instead?" He asked.
I raised a brow at him. Where's he going with this? What's happening right now?
"Uh, I usually just eat at my desk." I said.
"We should have lunch together today." Beck said.
I looked back at the women through the glass walls of the break room. Beck and I are standing right outside the door. I'm sure they can hear bits of our conversation. I almost want to say yes, just by the angry looks on the women's faces. I turned back to Beck, and blew out a breath.
"I don't think that's a good idea." I said.
"Why not? Because those women think you f**k your way to the top?" He asked bluntly.
"Well.. yeah." I said.
Beck leaned in closer to me. He bent his head down to my face. Gosh, he smells really good.
"Funny, you don't strike me as that type of girl at all. You seem more like the type to-"
"Opal, for f**k's sake I've been waiting... Oh. Mr. Rossi, how are ya?" Eric asked interrupting our conversation.
Beck stood back up straight, and took a step back. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Eric came to stand right next to me. A little to close.
"I'm doing wonderfully, thank you Eric. How are you?" Beck asked politely.
"Great, now that I've reconnected with an old friend." Eric replied, and bumped my shoulder.
The two men stared at each other. The air is growing tense. Uh... okay.
I have no idea what's going on, but I feel like I'm caught in the middle of it. I don't like that. I'm not sure what their macho game is, but I don't want to be involved. "Okay, well Mr. Mackley is going to be wondering where his coffee is so.." I trailed off.
"Oh right, let's get it to him." Eric said.
"It was pleasure meeting you Opal." Beck said.
"Yeah same." I said with a smile.
"I hope to see you again soon." He said as Eric and I walked away.
"Maybe." I replied without looking at him.
Doubt that that will ever happen though.
