Things were weird last week. First Eric asked me out, then that Beck guy asked me for lunch. That was strange enough for one day, but.. They didn't stop!

Eric came to see me every single day for lunch. Said that we should be able to eat together again now that I'm single. Thankfully, he's okay with eating at my desk, or going outside to eat.

I shouldn't be thankful at all though. Eric is a nice guy. Super cute, polite too. But I don't have feelings for him like that. Besides, I don't want to get involved with anyone I work with. Even if it is just for one night. Still, it's not like Eric has been pushy or anything. He flirts with me here and there, but nothing more. At least he hasn't asked me out again either. So, I have just been enjoying the company.

Beck has also been stopping by every other day. He always says that he needs to speak with Ted, but he spends at least twenty minutes talking with me, then he leaves. The weirdo doesn't even talk with Ted when he comes by. It took me one full day to realize that Beck is a way higher up in Suzuki Industaries. You can tell by the way that other people act around him. I have no idea what he does, but I feel like maybe I should stop being so cold to him. Does Beck have the power to fire me?

If all of that isn't weird enough.. Ted has also been acting strange. Something about tiddying up my desk more, and making sure that I have all of his appointments in check. First of all, my desk is plenty tiddy thank you very much. And why does he keep double checking my work?

Ted acts like I haven't worked here for almost five years. Like I'm brand new or something. I don't understand it at all.

Today is going to be different though. I'm positive of it. I will make this week better than any before.

I'm going to prove to Ted that I am more than deserving of this job. I'm going to try to put a bit of distance between Eric and I. Making sure that he understands we are only friends. Same with Beck. When he comes by, I am going to politely ask him to leave me be so that I can do my work.

I got this. I am a confident, independant women. I can be professional, and stern at the same time. I can do this. "Opal."

I looked up to see Ted poking his head out of his office. I just got here. Just set my bag down on my chair. I'm earlier than usual today. I thought I would beat Ted here too, I'm a bit disappointed. "Yes Te- Mr. Mackley?" I asked.

Ted smiled at me.

"I need you to file these, and be done by lunch. I will be giving you a bit of work today." He told me.

"No problem at all sir. I can handle anything." I said with a smile.

Ted gave me a small smile in return. Something more seems off with him. I hope it isn't anything terrible.

"Are you okay sir?" I asked.

Ted shook his head.

"Oh no.. Is it Emily? The kids? You?" I rushed out as worry started to take me away.

"Calm down Opal, it's nothing like that." Ted said.

"Oh. Good." I said.

Ted sighed. "But there is something I need to discuss with you." He said.

"Okay?" I replied.

"Come on in." Ted said as he turned around.

I walked into Ted's office. He gestured for me to take a seat in the chair across from his desk. I sat down, and panic started to take over.

"Am I being fired? Is this because I yelled at those women last week? I'm sorry that I lost my cool, but they wer-"

"Relax Opal. You aren't in trouble." Ted said with a laugh.

"Oh." I said.

"You yelled at some women last week?" He asked.

I blushed.

"They had it coming." I mumbled.

Ted laughed louder.

"I wish I could have seen it." He said.

I rolled my eyes.

"Anyways, I got word last week that this will be your last day as my secretary." He told me.

My jaw dropped.

"So, I am being fired." I groaned.

"No my dear, you are being promoted." Ted said.

"Huh?" I asked.

I'm not even qualified to be a secretary, what else could I possibly do at this compay?

"You are transferring departments tomorrow." He said.

"What does that mean?" I asked.

Ted took a deep breath, and looked me in my eyes.

"Starting tomorrow, you will be the secretary to the CEO of Suzuki Industaries."

"You stab that salad any harder, and you'll break your container." Eric teased from across the table.

I can't believe this is happening to me. Why me? Why does that bastard want me as a secretary?

Some of these people have been working here for ten plus years. They are so much more qualified than I am. I have a feeling that someone taddled on me to a higher up.

Am I being punished for yelling at Joyce and Janette that day? Is Beck really the CEO, and this is his way of trying to sleep with me? Or, am I really just this unlucky?

"Who does this guy think he is anyways? Pulling me out of my little peaceful corner. I just got in the swing of things again." I muttered under my breath.

Who is going to take care of Ted? He needs a secretary that is more than just that. I make sure Ted eats healthier stuff, that his wife knows how he's doing at late hours. Who will order her flowers, and chocolates? Ugh, I'm going to have to type up so many notes for the new person.

"What guy?" Eric asked.

My eyes snapped up to him.

"The CEO here." I said as I stabbed my salad. "Stupid dickwad." I muttered.

Eric's eyebrows shot up.

"I didn't know you knew Mr. Suzuki." He said.

"I don't." I said. "He must know me though." I said as I shoved a mouthful of lettuce into my mouth.

How the hell does he even know about me?

"Uh.. Can I get a bit of context?" Eric asked.

I stabbed my salad some more.

"Ted told me that I am being transferred to the top floor. Starting tomorrow, I will be the CEO's secretary. Can you believe that? Like why me? Out of all the people here." I said angrily.

"Uh, wow.." Eric said. "I hear he sleeps with all of his secretaries."

"Well, not this one." I said.

"You sure? All the women love him." Eric said.

"Then it sounds like he doesn't need me." I stated.

Eric chuckled.

"You've really never met the CEO? All the years you've worked her, and you have no idea who he is?" He asked.

"Nope." I said. "I'm just a secretary. My job is to make Ted's job easier, to make the buisness run smoother." guess so." Eric said amused.

The alarm on my phone went off. I scrambled to my feet, and gathered up all of my things. I gave Eric an apologetic look.

"I need to go back early today. I have to get notes started for Ted's new secretary. Emily is just going to lose her mind if she doesn't get calls when he stays late." I said.

Eric told me goodbye, and I made my way back inside the building. I rushed to the elevator in time to catch it before it closed. I squeezed my way in, and sighed.

I hurriedly made my way back to my desk. All for Beck to be sitting on my desk, waiting for me. I rolled my eyes as I shewed up off of my things.

"You are so rude, ya know that?" I asked him.

"Me? Rude? That's no way to talk to someone who brought you a cupcake." He replied.

"Have on your usual charm I see." I muttered.

"Always for you Opal." Beck replied.

"I don't see why. Since it never works." I said as I set my bag down.

I sat in my chair, and looked at the large double chocolate cupcake. It even has little chocolate candies on top. How the hell did this guy know I love double chocolate? "You seem to be extra feisty today Miss Evans." Beck said.

"Maybe I'm just extra annoyed today Mr. Rossi." I replied.

Beck chuckled. "It's a congratulations present." He said.

I raised a brow at him.

"For your promotion." He said.

How does he know about that? I haven't told anyone else. Maybe word just travels fast. Not fast enough for Eric to hear though.

"It seems that we will be seeing more of each other starting tomorrow." Beck said.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Are you the reason that I'm being transferred? Are you the CEO? Cause if you are, let me tell you that I do not appre-"

Beck's loud laughter interrupted my rant. People started to turn their heads to look at us. My face heated instantly.

"I'm not the CEO darlin'. Nor am I the reason for your transfer." He told me.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"You better not be." I said.

Beck chuckled at me as he leaned against my desk again.

"But we will be seeing each other more. As I am the right hand man of our precious CEO." He said.

"So you did have something to do with this!" I accused.

Beck held up his arms in surrender.

"No, no. I just heard from the man himself." He said.

"But you know why this is happening to me?" I asked.

Beck gave me a mischievous smile.

"I might know a thing or two." He teased.

"Tell me what you know." I demanded.

Beck chuckled.

"And what do I get in return?" He asked.

My cheeks heated. I gave Beck a big pout, really pushing my bottom lip out. Then I moved closer to him.

"Please tell me sir. I want to know so bad." I whined out.

Beck stared at me for a moment, before he shook his head.

"That, right there." He said.

"Huh?" I asked.

"Nevermind. Things will make more sense to you tomorrow. For now, enjoy your cupcake." He said.

I huffed in defeat.

"Fine, but you have to eat it with me. No way will I be able to eat all of this chocolate myself."

*********

Today is the day. The day I start my new position. Time for me to replace out just who this CEO is.

If this guy thinks that I will be a compliant little secretary, then he has another thing coming. Of course I will be. I need the job, and I'm not too good at confrontation anyways.

Still, I plan to give this guy a piece of my mind. He barley left Ted, or I enough time to prepare someone else for that job. That, and the guy also tore me away from the only nice person in this whole place. Well, aside from Eric and David. Which makes me wonder..

Will I be seeing any of them from now on? I never saw the CEO before, which makes me feel like I won't be seeing anyone else now either. That makes me sad. I'll have to make an effort to reach out to them more.

What kind of man is our CEO? I haven't heard much about him, other than he is drop dead gorgeous. People seem to be impassive about him. It seems that he keeps his distance from everyone. Except his secretaries apparently. Ugh, what have I gotten myself into.

The elevator doors dinged. I took a deep breath, and walked onto the top floor. The place is completely empty. Is no one else up here?

"You must be her."

I looked to my left to see a tall, thin women standing there. She's stunning, other than the scowl on her face. Oh yay, friends.

"Uh.." I trailed off.

The woman rolled her eyes, and turned around.

"This way. Mr. Suzuki is waiting for you." She said.

I hurried to follow her down the hall. The woman stopped at a doorway. She gesutred for me to go in. It's a big open room, with one blocked off room. I can see a desk sitting in front of the blocked off room.

"This is your desk. Mr. Suzuki would like to speak with you before you get started. Good luck, you're going to need it." The women said before leaving me alone.

I gulped as I walked over to my desk. I set my bag down, smoothed my hands over my beige pencil skirt, and then went to, what I assume, is Mr. Suzuki's office door. Taking a deep breath I knocked.

"Come in." Came a deep voice.

Have I heard that voice before?

I opened the door, and walked in. My eyes flickered around the room for a moment before settling on the man sitting at the desk. My eyes went wide as I took the man in.

"Kenzo?"
