Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2261
"Who's with you right now? Where are you? What are you doing?"
"I'm at the beach with Dustin now. Don't worry. I'm fine, Ms. Young," she quickly answered, afraid that Delilah would get angry again if she didn't make herself clear. "When will you be back?"
"I won't be going back now. I'm heading straight to work at the supermarket after this, so I'll only be home once I get off work."
Oh? This girl is getting bolder.
"No way. Come home now and get changed!" Delilah shouted before hanging up the call.
This is the last chance I'm able to fight for you, Larry. If you don't make the best of it, you'll have to settle it on your own.
She pursed her lips and walked into the kitchen.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" Dustin asked.
"It's nothing. Ms. Young wants me to go home," Joan replied.
Well, it's true that I have to change my clothes. Otherwise, the staff working at the supermarket will start some weird rumor when they see Dustin and me wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Besides, there are a few chicks at the supermarket who have their eyes on Dustin. I wouldn't dare to offend them.
Larry had been tossing and turning in his bed the whole night. The sun was already shining brightly outside, but he had no intention of getting up at all.
He was waiting for the woman to come home.
"Time for breakfast, Larry!" Delilah shouted from the kitchen.
"Coming," he quickly answered but didn't get up from his bed.
"Do you want Joan to make fun of you when she comes home later? Get up now!" Delilah purposely added.
Hmm? Joan's coming home?
Larry instantly got up and ran to the washroom to wash up.
"Grandma, didn't Mom come home last night? Where did she go?" Lucius asked.
Coincidentally, Joan arrived when the boy finished speaking. Before she could even answer, Larry was already downstairs. He asked while looking at her miserably, "I've been waiting for you all night, Joan. Where have you been?"
Why were you even waiting for me? To explain the scandal in the news?
The woman shot him a dirty look but said nothing.
Larry's heart clenched when she gave him such a cold response. "Can you listen to my explanation first? It's not what you think it is. There's really nothing going on with Jessica and me," he tried to convince her.
Nothing's going on? You kissed! How open-minded of you if you think that way.
A cold glint flashed across Joan's eyes. She didn't want to listen to anything that came from him, even if it was about matters concerning her.
She was tired and wanted to take a rest.
"Joan!" Larry grabbed her arm and yelled right when she was about to leave.
"What are you trying to say? I don't want to hear any of your explanations. I'm busy, mister. Can you let go of my arm now?" she said coldly.
Seeing that she was actually angry, Larry started to get mad as well.
"And what about you? Where have you been last night? You were with Dustin, weren't you? Did you go to a hotel with him again?" Fury boiled in him every time he thought about her being with that man, and he couldn't contain his emotions anymore.
"Yes, I was with him. And I did go to a hotel with him! At least I dared to admit it. What about you? You don't even have the guts to admit to something you did. Do you still call yourself a man?" Joan bellowed as she pried his hands off before turning to leave.
This was the first time Joan had been so angry at him.
She had never been so disappointed in the man.
"Hey, where are you going, Joan? You haven't had breakfast yet!" Delilah shouted from the kitchen.
"I'm going to work. I'm not eating!" Joan answered without even turning back.
Larry was left frozen on the spot, looking lonesome.
How could she say that about me? I'm her husband. Shouldn't she choose to believe me? A look of agony appeared on his face as he held his head in his hands.
