Chapter 1199 Are They Close?

It pained Nicole to watch him pining for Elisa. Gareth even got upset at the sight of Elisa enjoying the company of

other men. At this point, Nicole could no longer dodge the reality. Gareth loves Elisa!

Seeing Gareth heading towards Elisa, she frowned at the possible sight of them being all lovey-dovey at the party.

So, she took her glass and strutted towards Gareth, believing he would stop if she went up to him.

She walked toward Elisa, but her eyes were fixed on Gareth. As expected, Gareth halted his steps and chatted with

someone who had just arrived when he saw Nicole approaching him. Nicole breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing Elisa surrounded by men, Nicole walked up to them with a smile and said, "You guys seem to be having a

great time."

It's Nicole Tabor! The man's eyes lit up at her voice. Despite their regular attempts to impress Nicole, they were

always left disappointed as she was always preoccupied with duties and barely exchanged words with them.

However, they were surprised that Nicole took the initiative to approach them today.

But their excitement was short-lived as they quickly realized that Nicole had come over for Elisa.

One of the chubby men immediately smiled and said, "Ms. Tabor, it's been a while since we last met! You look even

more beautiful now!" As he said, the man pushed his wine glass forward.

Nicole smiled and clinked her glass with his, "Thank you," she said.

The other men also came forward to offer a toast. Nicole smiled and said, "I'm sorry, today is my grandpa's

birthday. I'm not supposed to drink too much. Thank you for the offer, though."

Those who missed the opportunity to drink with her felt a little upset. They accepted the rejection bitterly.

Nicole smiled and looked at Elisa. "Liz, can we talk for a moment?"

Liz...?

The intimate address caught the attention of everyone. Could Elisa and Nicole have a closer relationship than

previously thought? It didn't seem to add up. One was Gareth's ex-wife, and the other was a woman who had been

pining after him for years. Weren't they rivals?

Elisa was not in the mood to entertain the men any longer. She nodded at Nicole, and they walked over to a nearby

sofa together. They held onto their wine glasses, but barely any wine was left, and neither of them made any effort

to refill it. Elisa would rather have a dreaded conversation with Nicole than endure the men's superficial chatter.

They sat facing each other, and Elisa spoke first. "Today is your grandfather's birthday. Don't you need to greet the

guests?"

Nicole smiled easily, "Aren't you also a guest?"

Had Rachel been present, she would have marveled at their ability to put aside their differences. Despite their

history of hostility and competition, the two women were sporting enough to be in each other's company.

Elisa raised an eyebrow in surprise but said nothing as she placed her wine glass on the table. Nicole did the same.

After straightening her dress and placing her hand on her knee, she smiled and said, "I appreciate you coming to

support me today. Your presence means a lot to me."

After all, everyone knew Elisa's presence carried significant weight, given her newfound prominence.
